Kay, you ALWAYS have amazing SAL. I love this one, too. I think what I really love is the beautiful fabric/thread combination. I must get around to making some coasters and table toppers, etc., soon. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much Virginia, it is one of my favorite coasters I think and stitches do quickly so I am going to make some for Christmas presents as I dont get much spare time to make pressies as you can imagine!
I made one tonight. I used Fujix King Star silver metallic thread and a metallic needle, 80/12. I had no issues with a vertical thread holder. I did learn, however, that the thread color used to do step 2 should match the fabric - I used green thread on black fabric and I could see it on the outside edges when the coaster was finished. But the silver design in the middle is beyond fabulous!! Thank you, thank you! Great video!
Setting up your thread properly sure helps reduce problems and I know that many people have issues when stitching with metallic thread and some brands are more forgiving than others. Pleased you enjoyed this video thanks for watching it.
Hi Marian I used wash away stabilizer but you can use cut away and in the instructions it says tear away but I dont like tear away personally so I rarely use it. It's one of those projects where it doesnt matter very much. However if I were doing the quilt blocks that are part of this set I would use no show mesh instead.
Hi Arlene I am not sure what you mean by how do you get the placement and chain design. Everything you see in this video is part of the mandala coaster design, to make it you just need to follow the step that I show in this video. There is a link to this coaster design in the video description.
@@KaysCutz I did what you say but when I started embroidering it went straight to the mandella design. There was no stitching for the placement line or the chain stitch. I was using the .jef 5 x 5 if that makes a difference. Should I have used the 5 x 7 hoop? Also, thank you for your prompt reply.
@@arlenepomrenke1395 yes use a 5x7 hoop. Have you unzipped the file and put it straight on to a USB stick and then directly into your machine without opening it in any software? Software can change the design and cause it to not stitch out properly.
This is gorgeous! Thanks for the video. It makes it seem simple and it's the prettiest coaster I've ever seen.
Aww thank you and thanks for watching. It really is as easy as it looks, just go for it!.
Oooh! That dark blue fabric is wonderful! Clever way of improvising for an upright thread stand. Pretty mandala.
Thank you Maggie! The fabric is John Louden Marble Blender Korean Cotton Fabric in blackberry. Once of my favorite fabrics that I use an awful lot. 😊

When you've to snip the edges before turning through, could you use a pinking shears?
You can if you wanted to. Thanks for watching.
What kind of stabilizer did you start with?
