    This was seriously amazing. Maybe it's me, but I see a lot of Fighting in the Age of Loneliness in the way this video was structured. But I think no one has been able to present so well why that particular moment at Evo was so magical.
    Thank you Curly Brace ^^

    I first saw this a few months ago. Once in a while, I come back to it.
    I don't play fighting games. I can't, with these wrists, so I didn't fully understand Third Strike except the barest essentials of how parrying works.
    I didn't understand the micro spacing Daigo needed to do right beforehand, or anything else like that.
    When the weight of what you explained finally hit me, years after I'd first seen EVO Moment #37, at 18:40. . .
    It hit. Hard.
    It's hard to put into words the feeling I felt, and still do, thinking about it, then learning Daigo did not go on to win the event. The weight of the title statement, everything-- I'll admit, you got me. I got misty-eyed, too.
    I can't remember if a video essay has ever made me feel something so visceral and human before.
    Thank you.

    What a criminally underrated, underexposed video. Astounding introduction to the players and breakdown. Thank you.

    Fantastic video! I had no idea the parry had to start before the attack started. I've gained a whole new appreciation for this.

    Wow..... This is absolutely incredible. I have no words to describe how much I loved this. Thank you for making this. What made it so much better was that I could feel in your voice, how much this meant to you and I feel the same way towards both this video and Daigo’s parry. It’s a shame that this didn’t get picked up by the TH-cam algorithm and more people couldn’t see this. Once again, Thanks a lot. Also, Merry Christmas and A Happy new year. Hope you are doing good.

    Also should be noted that between the first 7 and next 7, Justin realizes wtf is going on and desperately mashes as loud as possible in order to throw off Daigo's timing.
    Failing to do so.

    Thank you so much for making this video. By a stroke of luck I had already seen Evo Moment #37 and I thought it was absolutely amazing, but your breakdown of the whole thing; the genius strategy, the mentality of the crowd, and the mentality of Daigo and Justin in that moment just adds exponents to this insane moment in time. I’ve never played Street Fighter before, but I’ve been trying to get back into video games and I wanna play this series, see if I can get really good at it. It’s almost like the martial arts I practice and the spars I’ve been in, but the speed and eye hand coordination just seem to make the quick thinking and rushing blood of real life martial arts all that more exciting and amazing. Martial arts and fighting really is about living all you can, taking that one chance every single time, and risking it all on one thing just because that one thing means so much to you.
    Subbed and liked, your passion and knowledge and breakdown in this video is awesome, I wanna see more of it :)
    If you don’t mind, do you have any recommendations for Street Fighter games I should start out with and characters in it I should try out and practice with? :)

    Hey, I've seen your video a couple months ago, I wanted to watch it today again, but by typing "evo moment 37 analysis" TH-cam search didn't find it! Thankfully I had it saved, I thought I would let you know!

  • @oromain

    Fantastic video! Only criticism isn't with most of the video itself and more of a technical aspect- audio mixing
    At the very least on my end your voice was _much_ quieter than the music, and it led to the music blasting out our eardrums as we had the video loud enough so we could hear you.
    That said, worth it :)

    This video is arguably the best recounting and analysis I've seen so far of EVO Moment #37.
    13:32 I must confess I hadn't noticed Daigo was preemptively pressing forward in order to pre-parry Justin's Super Art. Good catch!

    • @sage2050
      @sage2050 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You HAVE to in order to parry chuns super. If you aren't parrying before the flash, it's impossible to parry it.

    • @WalterWorldGames
      @WalterWorldGames 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sage2050 Yes, I know that's necessary, but I used to think that was only required at point blank range -at least that's where I've managed to pull it off the few times I did it-, not across the screen.

    You know the sad thing is that even if I show it to people unfamiliar with FGs they won't understand how great this play is. You only start feelign how great this is when you try to do it yourself.

  • @SilkNeon

    This channel is probably my favorite TH-cam channel. A long while back, someone linked to your Ape Escape video in a game dev discord chat. I've been a fan since then. Good luck on balancing life, work, and this. I hope you manage to make this work, though, because I love it.
    ....
    Also, you want $10 a month? Because I'm down to... what's the best word here?... pay you $10 a month. I know it isn't much. We can do it via some means where the middleman doesn't get some of the money.
    Also, slight criticism: I found myself having to shuffle the volume up and down during this video.
