ACT police arrested a 68-year-old man today in Melbourne over the 1999 death of Irma Palasic. He was hospitalised with a heart condition hours after his arrest. Thank you Detective Dunbar.

*I have watched this case FOR YEARS and am happy that a Melbourne man Steve Fabriczy, 68 years old was arrested (and then later hospitalized) on September 20, 2023. Sadly, he has likely committed many, many crimes such as the one he committed in 1998 and 1999* .
He has quite the record....Following is an account of a case he was charged with 15 years ago:
"Police allege Fabriczy, 53, and two others conspired in 2008 to kidnap a truck driver to obtain cigarettes and his truck, worth a total value of $1.9 million. Fabriczy, a truck driver since 2000, planned with two accomplices to use an offensive weapon, knuckle dusters, during the kidnap."

JESUS that photo of his beaten face actually sucked the breath from my lungs. That couple were some STRONG/resilient people. Wow.
Is there any possibility of a low-level mafia/low-key trafficking aspect to this case? They showed up to the country with nothing, but ended up having tons of money and jewels stuffed around the house, being known for their flashiness/extravagance (after pre-established poverty/"arriving with only a suitcase"), and then it all leads back to literal 'family connections through a common home-country social association? IDK. It just reads like one of those stories.

They probably didn’t tell people at all that they hid money at home , I don’t think they would have.
The cop saying they were ‘ open’ about their wealth probably only meant the generosity they showed buying people food & drinks …..they were not hiding their wealth by doing that .
I doubt they be silly enough to be saying “ hey we hide thousands of dollars of our money at home” however…..sadly….. I think the person who was arrested today in relation to this crime was probably someone they knew from this Hungarian Club who got it in their big fat greedy head to rob them .

That’s how “karma” works. Nobody escapes karma and eventually catches upon what you deserve.
I believe in good karma & bad karma. It has its own timing and will get you!
So in this instance looks like the saying “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”
The individual in the investigation did not kill the couple in this cold case. However; they did a petty crime that led into putting their DNA into the computer system. Then the codis picked up their DNA as a famillle dna to a cold case. Ultimately over 10 years the case gets solved.
So always do good especially with humanity. Work hard, & don’t take things that don’t belong to you!

What was new was familial DNA linking a father and son via two separate crime scenes decades apart.
Finding someone to rat out the son for the vandalism crime for the 500k reward wasn't that difficult and thus led investigators to his father, who was the killer.
I'm so glad that justice is finally going to be served!
We are going to see more and more cases solved in this way!
      Thank goodness! ❤

Here’s the problem here. Australian laws today prevent anyone from standing their ground with a firearm or own one. With wealth comes those who wish to take it! Facts are a police officer who has criminology degree are useless for those who wish to live! Deadly assaults last minutes and by the time the police comes it’s already over and the coroner has to be called in. Had this woman had a firearm she would have had a tool that was a great equalizer. Quite possible the tables could have been turned on the assailants. The victim could have been the pit viper that bit back! Sad to say! Government especially Australian government is not your savior! You the people are responsible for your own safety and yes the long arm of the law gets them eventually but it’s only after your dead or injured.

@@veronicafleitas412 do you honestly think that’s going to stop crimes? Your delusional! Even if you ban guns you will not get them all and on top of that you just made a case for every criminal to do what they do without fear of any person defending themselves! You’ll live in fear in your home while criminals and crimes run the streets. Look at San Francisco you would be caught there at night unless you want to be robbed or sent to the hospital. Your argument saying banning guns make you safe, in reality it only emboldens those to do you harm and steal your stuff while liberal prosecutors put them back on the streets after they have been arrested for theft! Sad you think more laws are going to protect you! This is what sheep do!

In an incredible show of bravery, a 75-year-old woman in Oakland, California, took on a pair of armed home intruders last week, firing a single shot from her .357 Magnum to ward off the criminals. The unidentified woman, who survived the life-threatening encounter uninjured, valiantly defended her home during the city's recent surge in violent crime.
Old people can’t defend? Or do you just rollover and take it like a good citizen?

@robertmahler8894 Like South Africans, New Zealanders, Canadians and co - Australians have their own distinctive range of accents, including indigenous accents, words and influences. Stemming from 235 years of European, Asian and other varieties of ethnic immigration. To my ears, Detective Dunbar was well spoken. Maybe quietly spoken. Same with the perpetrators of this horrific crime - if Canberra police had arrested the perpetrators of those 2 previous home invasions, then there would be no murder and attempted murder; but Australian police would only act if there is one, is that it?
