Wow. I just discovered this album today. Always loved the earlier records by Pineapple thief. They changed so much after Magnolia, made their music simple.
I listen to this and it makes me wonder if Bruce Soord has the slightest idea of the level of musical genius within his persona. This piece is amongst the perfect examples of the kind of "atmospheric voyage" that 'his band', The Pineapple Thief, is able to produce. The "introductional" electric guitar is a perfect beginning to the journey.
Jose Antonio Duclaud Unfortunately, I don’t think that it is a very good idea to call anyone, intellectual or artistic ‘genius’ that tends to create monsters. The music is beautiful... I won’t disagree with that.
I was mesmerised by this album on its release, its quality throughout. This is a stand out track along with Part Zero, Remember Us and We Subside. Shame the latest couple of albums are not a patch on it
No. The final sequence shows footage of a rocket lifting off, only to end up exploding after a few seconds. Editing suggests that there is only one rocket, while in fact two different events were used: The first batch of footage shows a Saturn V lifting off (Apollo 11), followed by footage of the May 1962 explosion of the first Atlas-Centaur. (from wikipedia)
So could we perform some kind of music therapy to chill out some of these murderers with automatic assault rifles? Absurd. Music will never change anyone. Very unfortunate. However I believe that music changed me in a very good way when I was twelve years old.
One of the most meditational songs ever written. Beautiful soundscapes.
I remember listening to this in 2010 flying to London. Feeling so elated! I live in the UK now ❤💕
