Although the storyline is basic, the twist of it being in the world of the immortals, is interesting. I liked this adamant/decisive/loving FL who held him accountable to his promise to only have her in this life. Despite the bad subbing and poor editing (scenes in wrong order), this is actually worth watching. SYNOPSIS - SPOILER ALERT!!! After witnessing her husband (ML), the Lord of the Underworld, cheating on her, FL goes to the Reincarnation Clerk and registers her wish to enter the reincarnation cycle and forget her previous life. She has to endure 7 days before it is effective, trying to hide it from her husband. She tricks him into signing a divorce agreement, thinking it to be the usual game of writing their names together. She hands him the agreement and asks him to open it 7 days later - on her birthday. Over the next few days, she discovers more clues of his infidelity and lies, but chooses not to reveal her knowledge. But this scheming mistress makes sure FL witnesses the kisses and secret meetings between them, wanting her to know and give up on ML. Finally, the day of her leaving - and her birthday party - arrives. His mistress entertains by dancing, shamelessly wearing the love token (hairpin) between FL and her husband. But this FL has already given up on this scumbag and is ready to leave. Well, not spoiling too much, this has a satisfying ending.
Agree, this is a good Xianxia rendition of this story. The only thing I didn’t like was ML giving up his soul to save FL. That's an easy out. It's like the modern versions where ML gets to die a heroic death he didn't deserve. I prefer them being separated for another thousand years separated by the immortal and human worlds. ML can't cross over to interfere with her human reincarnations anymore because he now knows that will only cause her harm. A little reminincent of the version with Han Yutong.
