      When I bought my GX-40 there was also the LX-40 with a looper. The GX had something the LX did not have, but I forgot what that was (a G-spot?). The L in LX stands for looper we can conclude.

    So they have moved the Cube from the Roland name to the Boss name, smart. Roland Cubes have always been the best combo amps under 10” speaker for me. This will be a great product.

      I had an old roland keyboard amp from the 80s or early 90s and it sounded amazing with an ibanez classic metal pedal in front (the soundtank version was a great pedal) but that was back in like y2k era and it had a 4×3in speaker setup...four 3in speakers... and now all these modelling amps are coming out with similar setups and it makes me think they were way ahead of their time. All my friends back then had like peavey rage 158s or some equivalent but you never saw small amps with multiple 3s... it was always 10 or 15w driving a 6 or 8 in speaker and that seems to be going away with these katana and cube and blackstar amps... just a thought that had been kicking around for a while now.

    Sounds as bad as my old Roland Cube 40xl. Hard to believe they haven’t improved the sound in 11 years or so. JC Clean and acoustic simulator are the only good sounds. Looper is good too. Obviously the Katana is a whole different league.

    • @DanielLebronTorres
      @DanielLebronTorres 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      11 years ago the Roland Cube 40xl was revolutionary. Now especially after trying a Katana, the cube sounds really bad. Very obsoleted sounds. I still have the Roland Cube 40xl and the Boss Katana 50. One of them is a toy(cube) the other one is a serious amp(Katana). The only reason I kept the cube is for the looper and the JC Clean. Also Cube has an incredible bottom end. That close cab is really good. Good bass.

    Ten years ago I bought this FS-6 pedal as a remote foot control for my DAW, when I just started using one, with all strugling that comes with it, like MIDI CC codes etc. I tried a ten buck chinese pedal for this simple function, but couldn't make that work, probably something with the latch/momentary thing. The FS-6 is great. It also costs a lot of money (which is not the same as expensive to me). It is about a quarter of the price of the amp, I see. I think you would do a lot of potential buyers a great favor and sell more Cubes when you'd test some 10-20 bucks pedals whether they work or not as an on/off switch for the looper. A large part will buy the FS-6 after a year, probably, it being more solid, but I think you'd save buyers in the beginners market the initial frustrating choice between 60 quid extra to make the looper work or buying the incomplete, looperless thing (Any which way you loop, starring Clint Eastloop)..

    It's listed for $399.99 here in Canada and with sales tax on top of that it's just over $450. It's sounds great but that's just too much. The Cube Street 2 lists for only $135 more (which also seems way too much) and the 6.5" vs 4" speakers alone would make that a better choice in my opinion. I've got one of these arriving soon and I'm pretty excited about it. Haven't decided if the Bluetooth adapter is really worth the cost. I will try without first and see if the phone/tablet app can work via Camera Connection Kit (direct USB cable). Even if not, I question how much I would really need to adjust the parameters in that much detail. As best I can tell, you already have tempo controls for the time-based effects and full EQ settings on the dash. Not sure how often I would need to change the type of delay, etc., though it's obviously helpful for playing backing tracks.
    One thing I wonder about is the best way to hook up an external modeler (like HX Stomp) if your patches are mono. I suppose I could just run two cables than then have a "dual mono" output? It's confusing because their "flat" setting is named "stereo", so I don't want to hook up one cable and have just the left speaker playing! Documentation isn't really clear if it sums to stereo or not with just one cable plugged in. Anyone know?

    Why couldn't they have built in a bluetooth adapter? Money grab... Probably still going to pick one up though.

    I wonder how this compares to the little spark desktop amp. I bought the cream colored spark for when I travel, but I'm rather disappointed with the sound quality. I have a pair of the 100w Katana Mk II's that I run in stereo along with the GA-FC pedal and they sound great, but way to bulky to carry around on holiday.

    Aw man they missed the best kept secret of these amps, you put the guitar through the microphone setting, wang up the gain, and it sounds like dick dale took a knife to it! 😁

    You claim it's perfect for busking, but it does it have any mic input/s? (I've only used the Roland covered in orange leatherette - presumably the female version of Pete's leather, hehe.)

    If you include a looper but it requires an optional extra to work, can you really say you've included a looper? Seems a bit cheeky to me.

    They added a popular feature (looper) that you can't use unless you buy a separate footswitch? That seems rather shitty.

    • @StormJH1
      @StormJH1 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is pretty crappy, but at the same time, it NEEDS a footswitch to be useable, and the one that BOSS makes is like 1/4 the price of the amp. So they lose the price point (which is tucked under THR10) if they include that. You can also probably use a $20 import double switch if that's a feature you want. I have a Rowin one I plan on trying out to see if it works, but something the size of the FS-6 probably would be better for a looper control.

    Why you need the footswitch to activate the looper? Cashgrab.
    Either include it or make it work without.
    Adding atleast 50 to 80 to the price. Bluetooth is an additional 50 euro

    I'm glad this has reverb! That's one thing I wish my Boss mini amp had... also, you guys mentioned you can connect the boss app to this (with the dongle). Does that allow you to add various FX? or is it just a convenient way to control the FX that are already included with the amp?

    At the start of the video, Pete is vocalizing into a microphone. Decades ago, in much of Rural America, there was an art form called "Eefing and Hambone". There is a TH-cam clip from our 1960's television show "Hee-Haw" ( th-cam.com/video/FvlcXYsfZ4g/w-d-xo.html ). Sorry, Pete, you have got to step up your game a bit.

    The fact that these have almost halved in price since this video was released is incredible. I’ve just bought one at £139 new and for that kind of money it’s an absolute steel as an amp for the house and then even a portable love rig pedal platform with the stereo out on the back 👍🏼
