      Kidan the G You invalidated your own argument by saying,"Covered or saturated." Now, as you should know water is a molecule, and in order for us to see or feel water, a substantial group of water molecules have to be present. That means that if we can derive the presence of water, water molecules have to be COVERED with other water molecules. Unless you can single out ONE h20 molecule which I know for sure that you can't), water is wet. You're dun no. -Big Shaq

      What is water? H2O.
      Every molecule of water will be surrounded by another molecule. And thanks to Hydrogen bonds, this will always make sure this is the case. H20 is always in the proximate vicinity of other H2O particles and if we define wet by covered in water, then water is wet

      Water is not wet..if you put water on water the water remains water.
      If you place an object in water its submerged in water, when you take the object out of water or pour water on an object the object itself is wet and the water is still water.

      ItsMikeyMoe oo The existence of fire is a chemical reaction, not a substance. Water itself is a substance. There are many different types of “fires” but there is only one substance with consistency and chemical make up of water. If you combine a substance, with the same substance it remains the same. Water. If you combine a substance with another substance you get a reaction. Fire; wetness.

    • @MoneyMakinMichh

    • @bleachcool1465
      @bleachcool1465 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ItsMikeyMoe oo thats why I said consistency and chemical make up.
      Also to add on to my point. Water and fire are completely different. Fire is a product of molecules when reacting to each other. The light and heat we see and feel is fire. Fire needs fuel to sustain it’s form. Water is a bond between 2 hydrogen and Oxygen molecules. It’s a substance. Steam is water thats just been heated.

    • @lovely_rae
      @lovely_rae 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@myprofilepicismysoul739 lol you just said water is wet though. If liquids are wet & water is a liquid then water is wet which is an adjective not a noun. Going to explain it again. Water is a liquid & they are wet. If water isn't wet when anything comes in contact with it nothing would happen to the object, it would remain dry not become wet. The word wet is an adjective ( a word used to describe the state of something or someone) Think about this when you shower.... I'm assuming you use water then a towel to dry off (which is dry) Wet things makes things wet if dry. If said thing is already wet adding something else that's wet doesn't make it wetter went wet is wet (unless it's in a state to where the water is drying out.) That's like me taking a dry towel & tossing it in the dryer to get it dry....its already dry.

      Angel_ Rae woah hold on “if liquids are wet” that does not sit well with me I’m trying to say is that liquids such as water are in itself not wet and where did I say water is wet? I did not even try to imply that water was wet, it isn’t

    • @lovely_rae
      @lovely_rae 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@myprofilepicismysoul739 you said "solid objects can be wet too if you pour any form of liquid on it for an example like water.... I'm telling you that water is a liquid & liquids are wet. So if you yourself just stated that an object can be wet by pouring liquid (like water) then you yourself just stated that water is wet. Wet is an adjective (a descriptive word used to explain what something is) not a noun (a person, place or thing.) By placing water on an object you made the object wet. You did nothing to the water except place it on something else. The natural state of water didn't change but the object did.
      Edit: if you can't understand this, then I feel for you on so many ways because it's so simple. For anything to be wet there's some type of liquid on it. If water isn't a liquid then what is it?

      Water can be dried if you freeze it. But in its liquid form it is wet. Fire cannot be burned because it is already burning. The whole concept of fire is to be burning, just as the concept of any liquid (I.E. water) is to be wet. You cannot dry a liquid unless you eliminate it or change its property into a solid or a gas. As long as there is liquid there is wetness, therefore liquid(water in its true form) = wet.

    If a solid is in a gaseous environment (like a pen floating in mid-air), it is dry. If a solid is in a solid environment (like me wrapped in a blanket), it is dry. Is a solid is in a liquid environment however (like my hand in cold water), then my hand is now wet. My hand is wet. NOT THE WATER. Wet occurs when a solid is encased or exposed to a liquid environment. The liquid is just liquid, the solid is just solid.
    Also, the only reason why my hand is wet is simply because it is an anomaly. A human normal lives in a gaseous environment or a solid environment. Therefore, we are naturally DRY. I don’t walk up to a stranger and say “wow, you are really dry somehow.” We don’t acknowledge humans as dry. But if a human is wet, it is an anomaly. It is abnormal for a human to be “NATURALLY WET.” We consider wet as an anomaly and it is therefore noticed and referred to. A fish is naturally in a liquid environment. It is naturally wet, ALWAYS. If a fish is dry however, it is an anomaly. It isn’t normal for a fish to be dry. A fish can’t get wet because that is what it is naturally. A fish cannot turn into a state that it already naturally is. That is like saying I can turn liquid water into liquid. It is already liquid, so that isn’t possible. It basically isn’t worth mentioning,.
    IN CONCLUSION, WATER ISNT WET AND FISH ARENT WET EITHER. IF U READ THIS ENTIRE THING, U A REAL ONE

      *Covered* or saturated *with water* or another liquid.
      Water is surrounded by itself on an atomic level so atomically, water is wet. i.e. What is water surrounded by in the sea/ocean? More *water.* (unless you go far enough and say it's surrounded by land but then are you trying to say water is dry? (Might I remind you the definition of dry is to be free from moisture or liquid, and it being a liquid itself means it isn't free from it)) Regardless it's just a definition thing. Depending on the definition used water and be wet or not wet though most cases, if not all, water itself is wet.
      IN CONCLUSION, WATER IS WET, FISHES ARE WET; IF IT IS SURROUNDED BY WATER, *IT. IS. WET.*

      if you take a water molecule, which is water, and put another water molecule, water, on top of that one then, by definition, water is wet... being wet is being saturated in water or a liquid

  • @eMDeeBeats
    @eMDeeBeats 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    If an object is covered in water (H2O molecules) it is considered wet. So when you put that object in water and stays submerged, it is wet because it's covered & surrounded by water. Now say that object is a H2O molecule or a water particle, it is surrounded by other water particles, so by that definition, water IS wet.

    • @ellajayy
      @ellajayy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      eMDee Beats the word “wet” is simply an adjective to describe our experience with water, not water itself. water had the ability to make things wet but is not wet itself because it was never dry. In order for something to be considered wet, it has to have been dry at some point so it can then become wet, but water was never dry so it can’t be wet. because water was never wet, when objects are completely submerged in water they are also not wet. only when you expose that object to the tiniest bit of air or dry space is when that object is now wet, but once again, water itself it not wet; it has the ability to make things wet.

    I was actually waiting for this, so I’m in college and I asked a few biology and physics professors. For an object to be “wet” there must be water present on said object that can be removed be it any form of removal. If said object is submerged in a body of water it cannot be wet, as the water on the object cannot be removed. Additionally, water itself is not wet as it’s part of a body and if removed continues as an aspect of the water cycle.🤗🤗🤗

    • @zae_bo
      @zae_bo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Scott Evins it doesn't have to be removed for it to be considered wet. As long as the object is in contact with a liquid, it's wet. If you're body is submerged in water, milk, or oil, you're wet. If you're not wet in that case then what are you? Dry? Or is there some other term for that state that I don't know. I'm not tryna be mean btw, I just really wanna make sure I'm not missing something because that's the first time I've heard if the liquid can't be removed from the surface of the object then it's not wet.

    • @ScottEvins
      @ScottEvins 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zay hi, I appreciate the response and thanks for letting me know your intent, neither am I trying to be mean. What I meant particularly but didn’t really explain was; the concept of wetness can be branched from two perspective purely scientific or psychological.
      I’m gonna try to explain both, your skin always have a moisture level as there are water (or oils) molecules on an atomic level. To such a microscopic scale that that they don’t send sensory impulses. When the quantity of water (or at this stage any liquid) is increased to absolute threshold, the sensation of wetness occurs as the quantity of milky led is enough the generate sensible friction. Here water is not wet, rather the sensation of it elicits is wetness as a product of societal definition of wetness. Our bodies actually have now sensory receptors to for wetness.
      Referencing the removal idea, upon absolute threshold, this quantity evokes the response to remove water in any way you can think of. Hence upon being submerged one can argue that you would still be wet, however, removal is the only way to remove yourself, hand foot etc from that situation. Therefore in the moment of being completely covered and surrounded by water, one can argue that your not wet but submerged becoming wet when there is a change in atmospheres after removal.

    • @zae_bo
      @zae_bo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn that caught me off guard lol. You explained exactly what I was thinking about regarding the moisture level in our skin. Since I just finished taking a biology course in college and everything is fresh in my head, I knew that water was present in our skin but it isn't enough for someone to go, "hey, I can feel water in my skin" or "Yoooo I got water in my skin" unless someone told/taught you about it, you did some research on it, or in some rare cases, you remember your biology lessons from 9th grade. I just dismissed the idea because I didn't think anybody in the comments would think that much about it and people wouldn't know what I was saying if I tried to explain to I kept quiet lol. I like that removal idea though. Thanks for the explanation. Really appreciate it.

  • @samidesi
    @samidesi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    wet
    wet/Submit
    adjective
    1.
    covered or saturated with water or another liquid.
    People are arguing we need dryness for anything to be wet so ill evaluate the meaning of wet it has nothing to do with dry, it in itself can exist without dryness if there was all water everywhere based on its definition we are all still wet. If you see in the definition it does not say an object has to be dry to be wet. So by that same logic and embodiment of water is also wet gg ez

    • @BruceKendallMartinJr
      @BruceKendallMartinJr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok Zemy 1a : consisting of, containing, covered with, or soaked with liquid (such as water)

    • @BruceKendallMartinJr
      @BruceKendallMartinJr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1
