my dad ferried a 777 from Seattle to Newark. He loved it! Said it climbed out like nothing he's flown before, got cleared up insanely high and cruised fast. Took some cool vids walking up and down the empty aisles during the flight as well. Crazy to see an empty 777 at 40,000 ft haha.
I recently flew on a Lufthansa A340-600 and can say it's quite an impressive aircraft. Probably the best Trans-Atlantic flight I've flown on, too bad Quad-jet single deckers are the past 😞😞😞
Awesome video!!! The "flying into the sun" moment is priceless!!! What a shame they are phasing out the A340 - we almost never get them in Melbourne Australia.
Damn I got excited thinking this was going to be based at Manchester. Love the a340 and with not many left I wanted to see it regularly at my local airport.
There is a beautiful hum of some Turbo prop airplane in the background during taxiing. A340 is literally my top favourite aircraft and have noticed that they achieve the V-rotate quite fast compared to other aircrafts.
Retired now from flying but we all loved positioning flights. Light with only fuel and no payload with minimal engine derate, the 757 used to go up like a homesick angel, god I loved that aircraft
Nearest i got to a positioning flight was Air Europe LGW to PMI. The flight was a scheduled service, but was overbooked. 25 volunteers were asked to accept a delayed departure, so i volunteered. So 25 pax on a B733 minimum payload was like a rocket ship. We were like fl20 at the airport perimeter and i had the last 5 rows to myself. Memorable flight that, especially as the cabin staff looked after us so well. Air Europe went bust the following year I think. Great shame.
This is just so sad. I used to see lots of these take off and land whenever we had flights when I was a kid. Slowly, I was seeing less and less until they're all being retired by airlines :(
Nice video, you've got skills. Low gross weight on a cold day, those big motor loving the cool air, must have felt like they were shot out a cannon when they tuned up the wick.
Today it still has its 'a big virgin atlantic thank you' livery and now I understand why, because it was retired and then returned to service after refurbishment.
G-VNAP after a trip to Air Livery at MAN no doubt. However this sort of take off with naff all payload on board and four RR Trent 556s still at one's disposal is easily managed and perfectly safe too. Power to weight ratio is the key here. GREAT video.
Guys, some of you confuse A340-300 which is slightly underpowered(excess power is not significant which is visible in take-off and climb performance) with A340-600. A340-600 has Trent 500 engines with more than enough thrust(almost double of the CFM56-5C thrust).
One of the most beautiful planes ever made!
indeed
nice vid. no passengers, cargo and small quantity of ferry fuel = short distance, turbo take off - bet the pilots enjoyed it!
yeah, they must have loved it
Yeah! They all perform great when there is NO load.

Al Cuevas no they do not Al, sorry
@Erik Mellander that's why the 340 is my favorite aircraft
It was beautiful watching it climb into the sun after the rotation, lovely footage! Liked
thanks mate. it was nice. when it went through the sun, the shadow that was cast actually made it quite dark momentarily
a340-600 is honestly the most beautiful commercial aircraft ever built after b777-300er. quad engine with that huge fuselage 🔥
After or before the 777?!
@@alinaqirizvi1441definitely before, both the a340-600 and a350-1000 look MILES better than the 777-300er
sadly it's all looks, unlike the triple, that thing's engine is too underpowered
Too bad there's not more of them flying. I think they're a gorgeous airplane. Underrated.
Definitely one of the most beautiful aircraft ever made!
Damn that really was fast
Wow! I'm a Boeing girl, but I have to admit that Airbus is one beautiful aircraft. What a lovely video!
The classiest plane in the skies!
Dude, you just got the perfect take off!!! The footage is awesome...
thanks man
I'm really going to miss the a340 when they retire it and when every airline will retire it in the future. It is my favorite widebody.
yeah, we all will
@@MTAviation UPDATE: Im crying
Incredible video! Love the "A Big Virgin Atlantic Thank You" saying! Really cool! Liked!
thank you. its a nice gesture
A big virgin 🧐
atlubeck I
What a plane... absolutely brilliant takeoff! A340-600 simply is perfect!
yeah, shame we don't see more of them
+MT Aviation agreed a hundred percent. you're doing a great job! cheers!
The plane, together with the sunset/sunrise looks beautiful. :)
sunset and thanks

UConnhuskyandrewnduati the double-deckers too 😢
Keep calm and wait for 777-9X 😈
@@moaz6395 that's a twin
Lighter equals more fuel efficiency. The 777 has taken its market
Bloody hell I did not expect that sunset takeoff to look so damn good, lovely capture!!
DAMN, rocket ship! What a beauty! I can watch this video forever. A340-600 😍😍
Haha, maybe this is going to be part of virgin galactics new fleet
MT Aviation lol definitely
Awesome video!!! The "flying into the sun" moment is priceless!!! What a shame they are phasing out the A340 - we almost never get them in Melbourne Australia.
That shot at the end was amazing
haha, thanks
I am amazed... What a quick takeoff...! Usually I have seen takeoffs happening between 30 to 40 seconds. But this is just superb👌
This has to be one of the best videos . I absolutely love the 340!
Thank you
A346 is such an elegant beauty
ggurks too bad it’s very thirsty
Always was.
Despite 4 engines being out of fashion these days, I LOVE this plane :)
one of the beautiful video i have ever seen ever on youtube.
thanks mate

Absolutely perfect footage, couldn't get any better with that shot as it crosses the sun!
thanks
What the hell!! Gorgeous
Rocket climb from 02:21 to 02:38 awesome footage !!

What a fantastic video, the way it takes off into the sunset is majestic
thanks
Now that is quick. Great Video Mate.
certainly is. thanks for watching
Probably a position flight
It looks a little more powerful than the first 340 with the hair dryers engines
My favourite airliner to fly in. Old but definitely not obsolete!
im glad they're still around
Wow! That’s really quick for such a large aircraft
yeah, it was impressive
Nice one, loved the sound. Looks like the pilot had a conversation with someone who challenged them to get in the air quicker than a F35 :)
thanks, yeah he must have had a bet
Just incredible! Quality is insane. Loved this takeoff
thanks mate
I really wish YT had a Love function like Facebook! I just love the way it rose into that golden sky!
How sweet of Vigin Atlantic at their livery :)
yeah its a nice gesture towards their staff
Wow quick take off!
yeah
What a smooth and effortless takeoff. Pleasure for the eyes.
yeah, it was really empty
Nice to see the beautiful 346 return for awhile. Shame about the Trent 1000’s! Hope to fly on a 346 and a 747 before they are all retired.
me too, im sure you'll get a go
Make em realize retiring the 600s early was a bad idea. 🤣
haha, more on the lines of they don't have as many 787's as they thought they would
Nah, they will retire it again when the Trent 1000 problems are solved hahaha
more like using the tren 1000 was a bad idea should have used GE
My all time fav aircraft has been 340 600. What a beautiful long fuselage
too expensive to operate stupid idea from Europeans as usual
Flew on the Virgin A340 to Hong Kong then on to Sydney .... what a beauty .
What a beauty. ! ! !
she sure is
Cool take off. I watch this video over and over
haha, thanks
This is a bloody fantastic video!
Like a rocket! Got to love the A340 :-)
she certainly did. and you have to, especially the -600
That turbo climb out and level off was sweet too!
yeah, its not a bad way to take off
The 346 looks amazing in VS' livery, especially liking the rejuvenated part
its a nice gesture
Return the nightmareliner and bring back these beautiful birds! 😍😍
Lovely footage, and that bird surely wants to fly.
thanks mate
Nice, Simply Aviation has used this video in their news video!
Congrats, good work!
yeah, we told them about the video and said they could use it in their video. thanks for coming over here and watching the full clip though.
This is just so sad. I used to see lots of these take off and land whenever we had flights when I was a kid. Slowly, I was seeing less and less until they're all being retired by airlines :(
Me too man...I miss the 4 engine era...used to fly with Virgin when they only had 4 engines planes...Heathrow was full of them
Nice video, you've got skills. Low gross weight on a cold day, those big motor loving the cool air, must have felt like they were shot out a cannon when they tuned up the wick.
Yes, one of the best looking planes there is. So sad to see them being phased out.
Yeah, 20 seconds!. God bless the Rolls-Royce Trent 500 engines
Crazy thing is, if it had 2 GE90s instead, it would have even more power than 4 Trent 500s.
@@schumi246 not unless the GE was making over 124000lbs of thrust, which it doesn't
Wow, that was fast, wonderful capture you got there, good job.
yes, lovely aircraft! flew Heathrow, to Cape Town some years ago, smooth flight all the way!
Today it still has its 'a big virgin atlantic thank you' livery and now I understand why, because it was retired and then returned to service after refurbishment.
Very nicely captured. 340 600 has always been my favourite. Second best to watch is 777 300.
But 346 is the most fascinating out of all.
I love the A340. It's my favourite plane
its nice aircraft to see
Same
Absolutely love that bird, beautiful.
Must of been bags of fun for the crew up front! Great Video 👍🏻
definitely
I wish they made an a340 700 that was a twin engine 600
Yesssss!!! Imagine 😭😭😭😭😭
AMAZING take off!
My favorite Airbus. Nice video! Still stands my favorite long haul airplane is 747-8..
Beautiful plane !!!
Blimey that was a quick takeoff! Nice video :)

Best looking plane in my opinion

Sensational footage!

Oh, another take off, but a quick one. I want to see. Yes, cool (power!), no wait: the view suddenly turned amazingly beautiful! Wow!
Wow! Monster take-off!
Wow! Impressive. Great vid
Power to weight ratio off the a340’s is amazing hence why quick takeoff
Spectacular 💯 loved it. My favourite aircraft.

That was awesomely fast
i love A346's! my fav aircraft, so slender!
they're great
Flew on one from LHR to JFK in 2015. Take off roll from spool up to rotate was 50 seconds. It was such a long roll, i thought we were going by road.
haha, well i hope you had a good trip
@@MTAviation Trip was special. Limo back to JFK, then shiny new Boeing Dreamliner back to LHR, which was awesome (no jetlag).
powerfull and majestic sound!!!

wooow! that's a super fast take-off! how powerful ...
yeah, thanks for watching
I counted 15 seconds. Impressive!
just goes to show how much life it has left, dissapointing that its been wasted in storage for all this time.
Impressive performance!
it was for a big girl, thanks for watching
