The opponent not being able to get on the water early, nor get the upper-right corner early, is what you saved your behind and let Vengir actually play in the mid-game. That, and your opponent trying to use Giants aggressively, when they're more of a defensive unit. Dude should've sat on his mid-game economic advantage to build up a death ball. Good game, and congrats. That was not an easy win, even for a veteran player like yourself. I would've given up halfway through the fight.
I think it clearly shows that he employed some tactics that are used against bots (like using mind benders to lure your giants, or not really having ranged units and just brute forcing the way through you by throwing a bunch of units). Although it works against bots (which can be quite shortsighted at times actually) it simply does not work against an experienced player, who went both against bots and real players. The main difference of a player from a bot is that player values vision much more than a bot, as such most tricks used against bots are too easy to spot. He still did a good job though, Good Game.
i feel like their biggest mistake was being too hyper focused on the knights and mind benders. they could have easily gotten some other tier 3 tech to get an advantage such as cloaks or markets

At 7:42, what was your reason for border growth over population? Thanks :)
My guess is: bc of ressources and blocking the way for making roads
Good job, but tbf he had a horrible spawn
