Sumire Iwaya, beautiful journalist, a grad of Tokyo University and Harvard is confessed by her fiancé that he is tired of being with her that is higher pay, higher education and higher height than him and he leaves her for his new girlfriend. Misfortune never come alone, Sumire gets demoted for punching her boss who is very drunk and rude to her. Feeling she lost everything at once, she comes across a injured homeless young guy in a carbon box outside her apartment. Sumire is startled because he resembles her childhood pet, Momo. As a joke, she says she wants to keep him as a pet. To her surprise, the young guy agrees. She names him Momo after her beloved dog from childhood. Sumire provides room and board, and Momo provides unconditional love and loyalty like a pet. Sumire says there is no sex in their relationship, and she will only sleep with high-spec guy: higher pay, higher education and higher height. Despite this, where will their unique relationship reach in the end…?

@@katgreer6113 Unfortunately, they get lighter sentences there. Especially if they’re mentally ill or were under the influence of alcohol. Look up the Cho Doo Soon case. He raped and abused a little girl and her insides fell out. She’s now permanent disabled. But because he was under the influence of alcohol, he only got 12 years in prison. He just left prison 2 weeks ago and people are protesting about it. What’s worse is that he’s moving back to his old house and it’s near an elementary school. He’ll have policemen guarding him for seven years and there will be more street lights and security cameras installed in the town he resides in. That case happened in 2008, the girl was 8. She’s still alive and she’s now 20.

I luv this drama. It shows humanity, caring, love, funny moments, anger, jealousy, all the human emotions.
The women are jealous and stupid enough that they don't support another female, it would serve them right to have the same experience as the FL. The men are insecure boys in a body of a grown man. To have someone who is highly educated and is not a aggressive arrogant, ultra feminist with a complex is rare. This is the first episode and I am only a few minutes in and so far this FL seems relatable and real with the way she ' react ' and not ' act' the role. I hope I am not disappointed have I had not seen any version of this drama.

I've tried to watch this for a few minutes and let's see how long I can bear this. but can't helped to compare it with the older version that I love so much!. The characters and storyline are way superb.

It actually made sense why Sumire let him stay in her apartment in the Japanese show, cause when she found him in the box he was so injured he could barely move. Here he jumps out of the box mostly fine and then after bringing her into her apartment he creepily decides to get in bed with her, and we’re supposed to believe she’d let him stick around after that? Maybe it gets better in the later episodes but so far the script in the 2003 show made more sense.

and honestlyyyyy it was so damn good and momo was so much cuter i loved every moment of it! The storyline in the first episode of both versions were a little different,, and i thought the older version was so much better and more realistic and not so cringe like this one

Not to mention in this show she’s already bathing him and kissing him with like no build up at all. They are still strangers at this point in the show. The 2003 version was much more realistic.

As an adult woman, all I can say is that he got comfortable because his needs are being met by an older person and he got used to it. He got attached not because of love, but because of that reason. That is my reason to why I find him cringy lmao. But the drama is awesome. I really enjoyed it.

The only way for a manga adaptation to not be cringy is for the writer to modify the story a bit. So I guess it really depends on the screenwriter

Only in Japanese dramas is a woman being smart and accomplished a bad thing that essentially takes you to ostracized status. Reverse the genders and I'm sure the character would've been portrayed as someone who was admired and respected by everybody in the office

Have you ever watched American movies? It's mostly the same there. The exception that in those movies the woman does not end with a boy pet but learn the "error of her ways" or ends lonely and loses everything. Watch The Proposal then come back here.
I think it has less to do with being those things and more to do with what kind of person (i.e. a woman with a lot of masculine energy, fabricated or otherwise) you have to be in order to be that accomplished in most professional environments.
Also, in practicality, being particularly successful can obviate one of the prime purposes of the man in the relationship (providing) which can leave them out of place. A woman has the choice to be ambitious professionally or not-- when seeking marriage, it's generally immaterial because the expectation that the man provides exists regardless of the position of the woman. Men are prided on their productivity by man and woman alike-- lack of professional ambition and success in a man is ugly.
