If there was one good thing about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, it was Zehra Fazal’s killer performance as Wonder Woman. And yes, that is a hill I am willing to die on.
The fact that Shadows of the Erdtree didn't make it on that Times Magazine list is astounding, and makes me think they couldn't get far enough in the game to access the DLC.

My Top 5 Worst Games of 2024: Veilfart Concord Skull & Bones Star Wars: Outlaws Dustborn Dishonorable Mention: Madden (ARE YA... ARE YOU OUTTA YOUR MIND???)
I think Star Wars is its own worst enemy. Creators think the IP is such a heavyweight that they can produce slop, slap the Star Wars IP on it, and think people will buy it in droves. There have been many shitty Star Wars games out there, even when LucasArts was independent.
Outlaws was fine. Just like Veilguard. I think the hate just stems (outside the culture war side) from the wish that it was something special. Something great. But in the end it was just fine.
I believe it has big shoes to fill but instead brought a sex toy to a bbq and thought people would have "fun". (The most moisty thin i could imagine charlie responding to this lol).
lot of games this year felt "oh wait this was a game that was coming out and now its here", didn't ever get really excited for games coming out more than a day or two beforehand. as bad as JJK is, putting it at worse than concord is crazy
@bross7801 debated between it being 5 or JJK. Gave Outlaws the dishonor because it's such a big property and from a AAA dev. Most of the time with those Anime games lately they have been bad unless it's DBZ
What a travesty... To this day, nobody can come close to Code Vein, Dragon's Dogma 2, or Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty for "the best character creator". Not even Elden Ring. Maybe Baldur's Gate 3.
"1/4 of the first game content" isn't even true. Sure has less mobs but the game design is great. Quests were just better and classes redesigned more coherent

Veilguard is such a hard game to talk about because there is a lot of very deserved criticism to say, but also I think its manifesting as a disproportionate amount of backlash that has people talking about it like its total garbage. And I think it comes from being a decade since the previous title (the expectations for which they were never gonna live up to, especially with how awful the dev cycle was for the poor game. Thank god the live service design was scrapped eventually), coming right after the unequivocally better BG3, and what feels like a certain group online that make it their job to paint a game as absolute garbage the moment it talks about... certain topics. It's puzzling (and ironic), because I think the game suffers a lot from what feels like an identity crisis. A lot of the criticism is with the dumbed-down dialogue that doesn't really sound like a Dragon Age game, and I think that was clearly meant to make it accessible to new players to the series since there's SUCH a heavy amount of lore to get into... but at the same time, there are massive lore revelations that I think would just be utterly baffling for anyone to understand who hasn't played Dragon Age before. I really can't suggest any new player to the series to start with Veilguard, it would just be a confusing mess, so that change was a huge net negative to the game. My biggest criticism, as a long time fan, is that I think they were way too ambitious with how many different places and factions they wanted to explore, and made it all feel surface-level and underwhelming as a result, just like visiting Val Royeaux in Inquisition and it was a big nothingburger. We go to a lot of different nations, but only two of them get major cities (Rivain is just an uninhabited coastline). And even then, one of the major cities is just a fraction of what we could have seen; Minrathous only being Docktown would be like if in DA2 we only saw Lowtown, we don't see any of the higher-class inhabitants or magical institutions that Tevinter is known for. Same thing with the factions- the Grey Wardens and Mortalitasi were really interesting, but the Veil Jumpers and Lords of Fortune felt like cardboard cutouts and never that well developed or compelling. If there had just been fewer countries and factions we visited, I think the game would have felt more satisfying. But at the same time, the game also had massive improvements over Inquisition that I don't think enough people talk about. I think the core narrative is much stronger (Inquisition's climax is hilariously anti-climatic), the exploration FAR better than Inquisition's attempt at "open world", and what I think is the most brilliant equipment system I've seen in an RPG to date. It has some core downgrades too, but a lot that's comparable. At the end of the day, to me it felt really only marginally better/worse than Inquisition (depending on what you value)... and Inquisition won GOTY in 2014. There are some disappointing aspects to be sure, especially as a fan of the series, but people acting like it's one of the worst games of the year I think are exaggerating way too much.
Yeah that tends to happen when you take a preexisting series and lighten the tone so dramatically that it ceases to even appeal to its preexisting audience. Whether it actually is an MCUification of Dragon Age or not, that is the primary impression it gives off.
@@JesseAnderson The worst part is that I know they could still do it. Visiting D'Meta's Crossing early game and seeing the way the blight was depicted there gave me really high hopes, it was visceral and brutal. A couple of blood magic ritual sacrifices you could find were also dark and gorey too, and the dubious stuff the Grey Wardens were up to were real high moments. It sucks that in the same game though they were totally afraid to actually dive into properly depicting slavery in Tevinter, and made the Antivan Crows toothless and ignored their l previously established unethical practices. All victims, imo, of "we don't have time for all that"- they'd rather not depict the morally grey stuff at all than risk doing a bad job of it when they already are spread too broadly across so many set pieces.

@scaryhockeyman8548 how's the gameplay though? When the game dropped, I played Nanami and Nobara, I swear that the blade and nails did no damage, I felt scammed and only put 2 hours into the game
@ The character movement is great honestly the best part about the gameplay in my opinion, but the combat gets repetitive and like Charlie mentioned the escort missions suck. Plus the ending to the main story isn’t really an ending so it feels like you wasted your time playing the game.
Dragon's Dogma 2 was one of my favorite games tbh, was able to play it day 1 with a considerable worse setup than Charlie. I Genuinely think it's a skill issue on his part.
What? When someone plays a game, thinks it's shit, of course that person's not gonna listen to someone say it's the opposite. You are not going to invalidate someone's first hand experience by saying, "Nuh-uh!"

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2005) currently has 190 players on steam.
