So, it's a WORLDWIDE fact that Reggae was the FOREMOST reason for Jamaica's POPULARITY.
Anyone above 12 years old should know it's now not the ONLY major association persons have with the island. To be roaming in the comments and making all kinds of DIVISIVE statements tells a lot about your purpose. I'm sure MOST, if not EVERYONE, has caught on to your CRAFTINESS--same old tired tricks.
Just leave the family to our meeting, you were never invited, GWEH!

Thank you Evan. In a way, Jamaica is from Africa. Our ancestors were from Africa, and they left behind their culture and teachings and we continued to live that way. Our patois language have words from Ghana, Nigeria, English & Irish. Jamaicans are very proud to be Africans. We know who we are, and there are no African alive can tell us that we Jamaicans are not Africans. Our music is straight from Africa. We know how beat our drums. It's part of our culture. Evans you were cursing bad words at the end. Do you know Bombo claat is a bad word...hmmm? Jamaican from the US. Peace and many blessings.

That the slaves are all from Africa is not historically correct. The Spanish took slaves from Iberia and other parts of Europe to their American colonies. The first slaves to Jamaica in 1509, were from Iberia.
Even those from West Africa contained the children of those taken from Iberia whose children were taken from them and shipped to West Africa, their descendents were also enslaved to the Americas.

The same way you said not all Africans are negative toward us you should say the same thing about African-American because not all African-American are spoiled and negative and not all Africans are nice and kind. If I should generalize the in general most people from most culture of positive attitudes toward each other the arrogant and the wannabes are the ones that's causing most of the problem because they want to be more than they can be they believe themselves to be white rich and powerful. even when they are broke . Marcus Garvey had the biggest followers in the United States all of Martin Luther King's book was written in Jamaica WE NEED TO STOP THE TRIBALISM LET US SHOW THE AFRICANS ARE GREAT WE ARE BY FIRST UNITED WITH OUR CARIBBEAN BROTHERS.❤

True talk sis. Black Americans have been tainted by the constant oppressive programming by the white supremacy. In other places the colonizers left. Not in America. Jamaicans never lost the connection with Africa, & Africans notice it. We understand west African dialects, since we’ve retained those words in our own Patois. Also the cuisine & customs. The love is therefore mutual. African Americans can change that, but they feel “superior” & that attitude produces no love.

Jamaica has Indian, Chinese and white people that born and raise there. When a Jamaican is born in another country they are not seen as Jamaican but at home they are raised as a Jamaican in some fashion. I grew up in a Honduran household but born in USA. I never had American food besides a burger for fun times. When I met Africans is when I started hearing black American. Let’s stop trying to make it look like black American are bad because they American. They have culture as well and many are not what you think. We have people that struggle in every country don’t stick to the negative stereotypes. Jamaicans have culture city people in Jamaica behave differently from the countryside people. It’s the same everywhere. Let’s look past the good and the bad and love each other more.

No. thats incorrect. Jamaicans are different racially than Africans. we have been mixing with many races and cultures for hundreds of years. That includes Irish, Chinese, Indian, Arabs and Jews . We all have those DNA, and the African part is most from Nigeria and Ivory Coast not Ghana.

Jamaican don't play, it is so true. Teachers said they can tell the difference between children of Jamaican parents in comparison to children of other cultures, because Jamaican don't play. They love their children, but they don't allow their children to disrespect them or their teachers. If you do something to Jamaican don't feel for one minute you got away with it, because they don't talk a lot, but when one is relax it could be years one will find out. Jamaicans are not hate filled, they are fair people, who are smart, kind and trustworthy.

Most Jamaican speak proper English. Not everyone speak like that. and not everyone use dirty word like the one you just use at the end . People go to jamaica, meet with a diffrent class of people and they interduce these dirty word to them it is not cute, it is disrespectful.

I wonder how did you come by that conclusion that most Jamaicans speak proper English 🤔 of course English is the official language of Jamaica 🇯🇲 because Jamaica was colonize by the British 🇬🇧 but the Jamaican Patwah is the most widely spoken language on the island 🏝

Jamaicans are blessed with a lot of talents especially with music, my friend call Jamaica “the musical island”. Jamaicans gave the world several different types of genres they are: Reggae, Dancehall, Rocksteady, Mento, ska, Reggae Fusion and Reggae Dub, out of two they birth Hip hop, Reggaeton and Dembow genres, which the Hispanics use today. Others may see this comment and dispute about the birth of their genres and say otherwise, but the truth is the truth, they need to get rid of the egotistical attitude.

Yes Jamaicans are extremely talented but Hip Hop was not birthed out of any of those forms of music that you mentioned. In fact the creator of Reggae ( Toots Hibbert) said Reggae was born out of r&b, soul music, Rocksteady ( Rock steady already had jazz influences) Ska and Mento. Dancehall genre came after Hip hop and was born out of Reggae and Hip Hop. All of The Elements of Hip Hop were all born in the States, the rap portion of hip hop was born from and greatly influenced by Black Southern American culture mixed with urban street life in N.Y.C. Yes there were great Caribbean influences as it began to take root but the Jamaican born Kool Herc absolutely did not start rap music/ Hip Hop. He never made this claim himself but nor did he correct it, when a white Jewish reporter printed it after an interview with him but that is a whole other story for another day. Some people really need to go and search history , there are actual interviews and written accounts from Old Jamaican musicians and selectors about where they got their influences from R&B ,Soul Blues Jazz, Gospel Country and how they greatly admired and copied the black artist from the states. Please, please do some real open mined and unbiased research on this and don't just regurgitate incorrect information that you have heard. I am sure most won't because of laziness, pride or ego
