Thank you so much for this! Im making a monster arm for my transforming Monster Girl (Invincible) cosplay and was unsure of how to go about patterning the muscles. This is extremely helpful!

How much for a muscle suit and to have you build it?

I’m a 5’5’’ guy but have an opportunity to buy a full size mannequin for cheap. However, the mannequin is about 5’11’’. Is it worth getting the mannequin for a muscle suit or should I make a duct tape dummy?

Good question. If you have someone that could warp you up in plastic wrap/tape then that would probably be cheaper and would match your proportions better, but would take longer to make and wouldn't be as coinvent.
I would maybe lean towards getting the mannequin just because it'll be a lot easier to work on it standing up. I haven't made an internal structure for my duct tape dummy so I just do all the work on the floor and I'm unable to work on the front/back at the same time.
At the very least if the mannequin doesn't work out for making a muscle suit, you could always display a costume on it later so that's something to consider as well

@@BioCosplay Thank you very much for the speedy reply. The mannequin would cost me $30 so it’s not as painful for me to go through the trouble of getting it. Because I have never made something like this before, a mannequin would definitely make things easier but I’ll also make a duct tape dummy just so I can have a correctly proportioned suit. Did you put a pvc skeleton in your dummy? And how long did the suit take for you to complete, from drawing to cutting the foam, sculpting it, sewing pouches and then sewing every piece on?

@@thebedroomshow9010 For $30 I would for sure get it! No I haven't done a pvc skeleton, but I should. It took be about 4 months to make.
