Watch This Before you buy Wltoys 104311 4X4 Crawler Dual Motor RC Jeep

- WLToys Releases the 104311 4x4 Dual Motor RC Jeep RC Rock Crawler and their advertised pictures and content makes it look like a high performance RC Rock Crawler, but don’t be fooled by their smart advertising. This is nothing but a disappointing cheap RC toy. Not even worthy to call it an RC Rock Crawler. It has no proportional steering and no proportional throttle. Using an exposed controller board inside a cheap body, and a cheap plastic chassis, soft cheap springy shocks, a small NiCd Battery and cheap plastic body that resembles a Jeep. I wonder if WLToys acquired a license to use this shell. Nonetheless for a Toy like this, it does have good power and performance. It should keep kids entertained. But if you are looking for a serious RC Rock Crawler, this is not for you.

Hay I think you can convert it to proportional control. Install a brushed ESC and a servo.
Given the already high purchase price for this type of product, it would be crazy to add the price of an ESC, a motor, a servo, good shock absorbers and a battery, unless you already have all these elements in reserve. I imagine that the chassis must also be of poor quality like the rest. Smart buyer: go your way!

Great review. Maybe rip out the electrics and put in a decent brushed esc and real receiver. That should be the easy part. The big question is how is the servo mounted in there? That might be the biggest problem replacing It (if its integrated into the axle). It might be a fun quick project to see if you can make it better for cheap.
I would just spend time with better stuff :D rather than modding this. The only good thing to do on this crawler is to take the body off, Trash the rest. and Use the body on a decent crawler. :)
It's too expensive at £72 plus shipping, so any mods will just take of past the price point of something half decent. Like the FTX Ravine/Danchee Ridgerock, which is only £99 online, and has super articulation, a motor on each axle, 4 wheel steering (selectable 4 different ways), oil filled dampers. And even that is called "toy grade" by people on some forums.
you are very right. there are better RC Crawlers which are cheaper and hobby grade.
I just got the new HGP Jeep and it has dual speed transmission and much more better specs. much more better shell with doors that can open and more scale details

These crawlers are waterproof, they may not look it but they have no problem in the rain, absolutely nothing wrong with this car, I'm selling mine, anyone interested?

yeah this is too expensive for what it is, if they put in the electronics from the wltoys 959b perhaps that handles a 540 motor or dual 370 that I'm guessing this has, has a proper lipo cutoff 2s capable, might do 3s with these motors even. & a alright small servo this could have been good, but I'd recommend something like hb toys zp1001 (its more like a 1:12th scale rather then 1:10 but does really well for what it is.)
It's 105 usd on banggood & offers way better crawling ability out of the box & with some minor modification becomes a pretty good trail crawler.
(Like shaving the steering knuckles so the steering can move a bit further as an example, new battery, pinion gear that's smaller for a bit more torque.
(not quite sure if the motor mount has other spots so you can change the gear ratio, but might be enough jumping down too a more torque heavy motor like a 55t crawler motor.)
(The battery could also be changed too a 3000 mah 2s lipo for a bit more power as the lithium ion pack using two 18650 cells, yeah they cut out during heavier loads.)

Lol but yeah I bet but if you want the best cheap one check out the redcat ridgerock. It has duel motors 4 wheel steering with 4 setting everything's proportional if you get some aftermarket better tires and shocks you'd be real surprised I've had mine 3 years. Anyway just wanted to share that oh yeah 2.2 be lock wheels as well for price it well worth like 100 bucks. ✌️

/ESC crap servo so wheels maybe re-usable, body will fit the metal tfl chassis.
Yup thats what I thought too. Just take the body and put on a real RC Crawler and trash the rest :D

My kids love it and driving it with phone it has a very good range. outdoor my kids driven it about 10 to 20 meters away without issues. 4WD, full proportional controls and using phone as steering in gesture mode, your little one will simply hooked on this. and its very capable too.
