They get injured so they can't continue that fight (except when used Life Dew, Resurrection or Giga resurrection. Or just the ol' Life Sprinkle.)
And yeah, they also get revived for the next battle.
Just a quick tip Martyn. When you are feeding the characters, it is more useful to look at the amount that has been added to their base stats ( this is the large orange number with a plus sign in front of it that is displayed for each stat). Trying to get this value even between all characters will be better in the long run.
I'm in agreement with having the next party member be a mage since you haven't had one yet. Doesn't matter who, just so long as they are a mage so you got all the classes covered
The tank gets better the farther along it gets. It has crazy high attack values and even gets a laser! And please make a mage (and considering Mercy is your only female character, I'd make/scan a female character for the mage).
I like how Love God stands like Natsu from Fairy Tail whenever he said "You look pretty good." to Thomas, just started watching Fairy Tail recently xD

Martyn, you're doing spectacular! One thing that i might add a slightly constructive criticism to is that Love God is now the healer class, you need to get into the mindset that everybody is either gonna depend on him for healing, or as a consequence completely deplete the heals supply, but if there's anything you've proven to us, its that you are a rather adaptive fellow, good job, my friend and i am rooting for ya!

You skipped over the chest at the pyramid by the way, you could get useful gear to your class or your team's classes, since it's treasure is based on the classes in your party
