I am noticing the difference in comfort and social demeanor with Lynn and Oliver. Lynn especially, seems to genuinely smile more often when she is communicating with locals. Language barrier does not seem as difficult for her. Both hers and Oliver's natural eye smiles also comes out more naturally than earlier videos. Filipinos are very communal, friendly, and joyful and your family is adapting to the local customs so well. It's no wonder you all look so happy.

I think all Filipinos are kind. Koreans don't smile much, but Filipinos' smiles make us feel comfortable.

sari sari means of different kinds. so a sari sari store means they sell different kinds of foods/items/groceries in one place. halo halo is to mix.

    • @ecilatnecniv
      @ecilatnecniv ปีที่แล้ว +5

almost but not quite right.. halo means mix... but halo halo actually means assorted..
halo halong bagay (assorted things) assorted is equal to "mixed" , a verbal which has slightly different meaning to the root word "mix"
this mixed is not the past tense of mix (verb) but a verbal acted as an adjective..

Yes.. Halo or haluin or ihalo is stir or mix, while halo-halo is a mixture of different types whether people, ages or things on this case is ingredients or fruits. (sari-sari, halo-halo, iba't-iba) ang klase ng prutas ang lahok ng halo-halo.

@@ericgudes4240 that's why i said almost.. because sari-sari could mean assorted.. but in this case, in sari-sari store... "sari-sari" means variety.. that has slightly different meaning to assorted..

inasal is ilonggo (dialect from iloilo) means inihaw (in tagalog) and grilled or roasted in charcoal (in english)
"mang" is an honorific for elderly man
opposite to "ale or aleng" an honorific for elderly woman..
basically, mang inasal means mr. inasal or mr. inihaw or mr. grilled or mr. roasted 😊

Halo-halo if use as noun it refers to the Philippine dessert that is a mix of sweet ingredients that were put together with ice in a glass, if verb it means to mix it in case of the dessert halo-halo is to mix the shredded ice with other ingredients. Sari-sari it means different for ex. different things, different food, different fruit, exist in one place like store, room but in order. Sari-sari is an adjectives but halo-halo has the same meaning with sari-sari if it is use as an adjectives. Other word with the same meaning as adjectives is iba-iba.

annyeonghaseyo. Im glad to see your family in the Philippines again and travel to explore different places in the Philippines. Yes you are right, there are many really delicious delicacies in the Philippines. mang inasal is one of the famous restaurants in the philippines, the yellow rice is called java rice, and chicken oil is the liquid substance that is put in the rice. But be very careful when taking it (chicken oil) because it is made from chicken skin, so it is really high in cholesterol. Anyways enjoy your meal.. bon appetit.

    • @hellophilippines513

@@hellophilippines513 annyeonghaseyo..At first when i also tried this oil base substance, i didnt also know that it is made from chicken skin. if im not mistaken it was featured on a television show i watched. And again you are also right that it is really delicious especially when mixed with hot rice. one filipino desert that the locals will not miss is the halo halo or mix mix in English. Don't mention it, it is also your right to know what food enters your body, because it is your own body and health. so it's still up to you if you put chicken oil in your rice, or not. honestly speaking this oil base is really addicting ..😊😊

Sari-sari means "assorted". Just like in sari-sari stores that sell different kinds of things.
Halo is Tagalog word (verb) which means "mix" that's why that famous dessert was named "Halo-halo" because you have to mix all the ingredients first before you dig in. 😁
Tagalog can be really confusing because there are a lot of words that sound the same or even spelled the same, but may have different meanings, but don't worry, you will soon get used to the language and will be able to understand it more. Besides, Filipinos are kind and can always translate Tagalog words to English. Just ask people around, you'll be fine. 😊

Hello ... it's better to eat it with bare hands, that is how it is eaten before. You may ask a hand gloves to use eating bare hands and they were served in banana leaves before as plates to eat with. Dipping the chicken into the soy sauce with squeezed kalamansi juice adds flavor to it and adding that oil with rice as well taste best. You should ask for a "unli rice"! So nice you all are learning a lot from and fast with our ways of life. Enjoy life and salamat!
