    Great Video Kelvin, i am glad you brought out the part on insurance for wealth protection which many ppl may have miss out. Do remember to include medical insurance premium into your retirement expenses too. Protect your income before you can secure your future!

    Hi Kelvin, love your content. Retiring early was always my goal since my 20s. I was pushing hard and managed to get good start. But I had a dilemma, I love my job. I would even do it for free. But somewhere in all that passion for my job, I neglected my health and had a stroke early this year. Suddenly, early retirement looks like a necessity rather than an option. Your channel and many others have give me a better perspective on how to fast tract my retirement. And great advise on getting insurance. The insurance saved my life. Best to a good policy early, don't go for the bare minimum. Go for a slightly higher premium than you can afford now. As income rises, you will be glad you did so. Keep up the great work, you are an inspiration.

      Hi Vijay, hope you are better now. i am glad you got yourself covered. I have been through tough times during my younger days when my dad had kidney failure. Many neglected the importance of wealth protection. takecare!

      @@jinwooo2724 Hi Yong Chin, glad you got the basic insurance covered. More importantly you should look at how much coverage you have at the moment instead of what you have. Rule of thumb is to progressive work towards getting yourself covered for 10x your Annual Income for Death and TPD and 5x your Annual Income for CI. Try to keep the premium for wealth protection coverage between 10 to 15percent max your annual income anything more you might be overpaying. If you are young the premium can be even lower than 10percent of your annual income. Cheers!

      Nope. Hold Tesla for max 5-7 years. Look at the market. China EVs are not only catching up, they differentiate themselves by being aesthetically appealing compared to Tesla. In 5-7 years, Tesla will have fierce competition domestically and internationally. You also have to take into account that Tesla is overvalued now. Only this yr they finally made profits, due to first mover disadvantage of high R&D costs. Hold it, but know when to let go. Not everything goes to the moon in the long term.

    I am new to investment and watched videos from investors like you and public interview of fund manager or company owner. The most consistent advice from all of them including yourself is do your own research before invest anything. I also heard the same advice from my friend who is a long time investor who retired from work before 50, his exact word is to research everything.
    My question is how much research is enough? Because I noticed there is always more things to read on or watch even just for 1 company.

    The preferable retirement target is to get the passive income (excluding capital gains) to at least equal the last drawn salary. The rationale is that your expenditure would likely lower than last drawn salary as you have been building up the portfolio over the years. The difference between last drawn salary and expenditure can then be put back into the portfolio to reduce the impact of future inflation on future expenditure.

    • @fghfdgable

    I always have this confusion on whether this calculation should include money from your CPF account or not? How about CPF Life? I think this topic has to cover all these for better understanding for future retirement. Thanks for the explanation 👍

    • @KelvinLearnsInvesting
      @KelvinLearnsInvesting  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Personally i didn't include CPF because anything can change in the future, eg lower payouts, higher withdrawal age etc. The money should best come from ourselves, any extra from CPF treat it as bonus.

    • @snowchamp
      @snowchamp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like how you think. yes, retirement money tends to be calculated with just a single source. aka stocks/cash. personally, I feel, there are multiple streams. 1. CPF, 2. reverse mortgage, 3. insurance (whole life/endowment/ILP/annuity), so with all these said, I personally believe you can go into stocks whichever gives you the best risk/rewards. cause we already have multiple safety built-in.
