PNG PM hits back at Joe Biden after 'cannibals' remark

- Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister James Marape has objected to US President Joe Biden's remarks implying his uncle was eaten by cannibals during WWII.
Last week, President Biden claimed his uncle Ambrose "Bosie" Finnegan died after his plane crashed in an area close to PNG before suggesting he'd been eaten by cannibals.
However, Pentagon records state the aircraft plunged into the Pacific off the coast of Papua New Guinea.
PM Marape then admonished the President's "slip of the tongue" moment.
"President Biden's remarks may have been a slip of the tongue; however, my country does not deserve to be labelled as such," PM Marape said in a statement on Sunday.
"I urge President Biden to get the White House to look into cleaning up these remains of WWII so the truth about missing servicemen like Ambrose Finnegan can be put to rest."

Ambrose Finnegan was part of a 4 man crew on a plane headed to an airfield in New Guinea. The plane’s engine developed problems and went down into the ocean. Three of the crew, including Finnegan, went down with the plane and never surfaced. The pilot survived and told the story. No cannibalism was involved. Edit: Sorry, it was TSgt. Anthony Zulkus, the Engineer, who survived. My apologies.
It was an enlisted crew that survived neither the pilot, co-pilot, nor Finnegan survived.
The plane was flying because they cannibalized parts from an old wreck to repair the engine.

I looked it up, and cannibalism was still a practice during the era Ambrose Finnegan was in the military. It was eventually outlawed, but it actually was common practice in New Guinea. The only issue here is that Biden again embellished or had faulty memory regarding how is uncle died. That part is almost as disturbing as cannibalism.
