250 foot pounds isn't too bad. Right on par with alot of 38 +Ps and just behind plain target 9mm loads. But how the energy is delivered is probably more important.
Right. I can't remember if you've seen it or not, but the gel test video I did of these showed how they performed. I think we're going to try some of these again over the chrono soon and maybe into a block behind it as well with my buddies Bersa Thunder because it has a longer barrel- so they might perform better from that gun. I wish I could get a Glock 25...

The Bersa Thunder I mentioned has a longer barrel than both the G42 & 365. The EZ is like a tenth of an inch longer. You could also get a PK380 and tie the EZ, or a Beretta Cheetah is slightly longer still. What I really want is the Browning Black Label which has a 4.25" barrel. Perhaps more interesting than that, is what velocities would be from the Hi-Point .380 carbine...

Good video I don't know if it still stands but in WW2 it was stated that as long as a round had 36Lb's of force when it hit a person it would kill them. You can die from a punch to the throat pretty quick as well. I guess it doesn't take much to kill us I carry a LCP-MAX or M&P9+ both can throw 12 rounds. I feel that at self-defense range I would rather have volume over ft-Lb. Just my opinion. 🤷♂
I forget the website but there's a standard for slaughtering animals with bullets. 200 ft/lb for cows goats horses, etc is the minimum they asked for, which is high to cover ALL animals. A cow skull is ridiculously over built, so getting 175-225 ft/lb I think is the sweet spot of a edc pocket pistol since humans are much weaker creatures. Above that in energy I mark up as wastesed energy in recoil, cost, and sound. The ultimate gun is a 32 acp with Buffalo bore rounds from a 3.5 inch barrel in a sub compact. You get 160ft/lb , perfect
I know this isn’t part of your test but just putting it out here because I too watch a lot of 380 comparisons, Defiant Munitions has a very good 380 round as well out of a 3 inch barrel. Nice video!
The Norma MHPs are junk. I tested them in 9mm through my Canik SFX Mete Pro with a 5.74 inch barrel, and they were over 100 fps under the advertised velocity. Norma must have a 10” barreled solid receiver to get those listed velocities.
In another video of mine they came in under advertised velocity even from a 16" 9mm carbine and still failed to expand properly. I don't know if they had a bunch of bad batches or what, but I definately agree with you because I had the same experience in both calibers. I see them on sale everywhere now for less than 10 bucks because they are garbage- same as the Sierra 9mm (which I also tested).
@@BuckeyeBallistics I did buy several boxes at ten bucks per box. I had a bit different result than I'm seeing in a lot of these tests with the few I've fired. I got decent expansion and good penetration in water jugs out of a Bond Arms derringer. About as short of a barrel as you can get. Both ended up in the fourth gallon jug, expanded. Curious to see how they do out of my Beretta or some of my other longer barreled .380's. Being solid copper and with such a tiny hollow point I was sort of surprised to see the expansion I did get with them myself.
@ditchdigger - That's water friend. Shooting water is the best media to get hollow points to expand in, almost garunteed expansion everytime from every bullet. Shoot them into ballistic gel and they won't expand from that derringer...

That’s a moderate rifle used daily for hunting. Plenty more that are way more powerful. There is no comparison between an air rifle and a actual firearm.

Yeah, one of my favorite carry pieces is my da/sa Bersa combat plus. It’s a double stack 380 acp firestorm. It’s 15+1 and I carry Buffalo bore 380 acp JHP +P. It’s not like this is the 380 cartridge of old out of this firearm. It Carries more than enough firepower.

What do you mean how far will a 9mm go? Shoot it up in the air at a 45 degree angle and it will easily travel a mile. But I'm assuming you mean effective range? Well that depends on the firearm and shooter skill. I have numerous videos shooting .22, .380, 9mm, .40, and .45 pistols quite accurately at 100 yards, sometimes with little to no holdover (aiming over the target to compensate for bullet drop). Matter of fact, the very video I posted before this one of my grandfathers H&R .22 revolver, I was shooting it 100 yards in that video. If you want to see a 9mm pistol shoot 100 yards, watch my Girsan Regard MC video from a year or two ago. Lasty, I have videos shooting my Hi-Point 9mm carbine 200&300 yards, and my .22 rifle 300&400 yards on the channel. So since you were asking me to do this as a next test, well, I kinda already did lol, so check out the mentioned videos and let me me know what you think!
Those monolithic hollow points are absolute trash. Every single video I have seen these tested in has very similar results. They tend to be well below the advertised velocity, and they drastically under penetrate. I usually like Norma ammo but these are no good.
The Norma say tested out of a 5 or 6 inch barrel in very fine print somewhere on the box. I’ve never seen a 380 with a 5 or 6 inch barrel. They perform pitiful in all the test I’ve watched! Palmetto armory has the 9 mm on sale for 7 dollars and 49 cents 😂🤣

Perhaps I missed it, but make sure your pistol is *manufacturer* rated for +P ammo if that's what you plan to feed it.
So far I've heard the Kahr CW380 and Beretta Pico are the only ones rated for +P ammo (up to 30% higher than std SAAMI specs)

So out of all the 380 you tested the 2 best was liberty and Underwood. The liberty was super fast. Almost 1500 fps.
Fastest doesn't necessarily mean best as far as penetration is concerned; you should check out the gel test I linked in the description...

I bought an air gun that can do 320 FPE lol and 250 average. Was going around comparing it to other 380 ACP videos. This was the strongest one.
You mean 320 fps not fpe big difference. Fpe is foot lbs of energy no air gun makes that much.
