      I was going to say the same. I have two children and they don't help as much as your kiddies do.

    I've watched several of your videos recently after finding your channel. I really appreciate how you keep your children safe by not identifying them on camera. I'm used to other TH-cam creators (not all), including their kids in the video. I like how you include them but say she, they, the kids instead of their names. At first, I thought it was strange, but it seems better this way.

      My older children are given the option and occasionally I slip. But I feel at this point this is what is best.

    You and kids did a phenomenal job!! Im in CT, with Canadian smoke, garden was better than last yr, but not normal. Kept temps all over the place. My dad in VT, my cousins in Maine didn't get it like we did. Just getting tomatoes turning red. Seems since cov*d (I'm being careful), nothing is normal. Before that, I'd have bushels of tomatoes. Yellow squash is producing for fresh eating, but not enough for anything more. Butternut squash should be more than it is. Im greatful for whatever I can get. Cucumbers, peppers and hardneck garlic were great.

    I had excess kale last summer, so I dehydrated the excess (and froze some) and then ground it to a fine powder to add to soups and stews. You can add it to smoothies too.

    Hi. Do you all blanch your beet greens first before freezing? We did but I was wondering if it was really necessary. We had lots of beets so when we first started preserving we froze them and saw all the freezer space it was taking and the loss of power that was happening cuz of storms and decided to start canning which I haven’t done in 25 yrs since moving to nc (originally from ct). Anyhow we ended up with 31 pint jars of beets that I water bath canned and they came out great. Since then we have done tomato sauce, cowboy tomato jam (yum), green tomatoes for frying, green beans, fig jam with honey, salsa verdé, corn and soon butternut squash and sweet potatoes. Hoping to get some muscadines to make jelly. Anyway just wondering about beet greens and wanted to share a little bit of our adventures. Haha. Hope y’all have a great week.
    Happy Canning!

    • @mommabear2many
      @mommabear2many  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a reason behind that. Actually more than 1 reason. But we feel that our children should have the choice to be public or not. When they are on camera it is with there consent. We dont really want people in public calling out to our children by name. i have slipped a couple times. But this is the basic reasoning.

    How do your kids feel about doing all of the canning? I didn’t see any happy faces 😊

    • @mommabear2many
      @mommabear2many  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Think we are just so busy this time of year everyone feels a bit tired. I also don't think lack of a smile means someone is not happy. My husbands eyes dance when he is happy. I think it might be a bit odd to plaster smiles on our faces. Like do you know anyone who smiles the whole time they are scrubbing a toilet? It's not like I don't like a clean toilet I do. But I personally am not going to smile while I clean it :) Canning is more a fact of life work is good for all of us.

      @@mommabear2many , I figured they would probably have been thrown out. With 40% food waste in our country it’s a shame grocers and consumers are so focused on “perfect” food. I’m glad someone is making use of the bounty.
