Disagree. He was the best coz there was little to no competition. Even when mvg first came on the scene they both could win games on there b game were as now if anyone doesn't turn up with A game then they don't win its as simple as that u can see how much mvg is struggling and taylor would be no different we just didn't see it coz there was no pressure on him like that back then. Taylor won so many matches he Shouldn't have and that was against guys that were nowhere near the level of today's top 10. Great players but he wouldn't have won half of what he did if he was competing in today's game at least that's my opinion anyways. Even when Gary was at his peak in 2015 taylor struggled with him and although he won against tmvg in 2013 he also got slaughtered on a few including a white wash and an 11-3 loss in the pl final.
That's true look at his record from 1994 to 2006. Then RVB comes over from the bdo and then the following year all the others from the bdo join. 2007 to 2017 Phil was still averaging the same but now he has about 10guys who could hit 100 average over longer matches and another 6/10 guys makeing up the top 16 who could hit 100 avgerage for shorter match who he would have been up against in early rounds.
He only started as practice for the crafty Cockney turned pro at 30 and look what he's achieved darts first multi millionaire but at the start there wasn't much money he made darts what it is what a legend
Amazing to me that Gary is still so underrated by public opinion yet obviously feared by MVG not to miss in the early part of a game. This match is where I truly began to fully respect Anderson's POWER to punish under pressure. I've been a huge fan of Taylor's for many years.
Once Taylor was gone Anderson is my favorite with chissy and Lewis of course MVG is no1 great to watch and I think a top man the worst by a mile the ice twat hes good but his sportsmanship is nigh on cheating he needs to lay off the steroids cos roid rage isn't welcome in darts some ppl think I'm very opinionated hahaha.see ya
