- You'd expect real bridges to be the safest designs right? Poly Bridge 3 (pb3) is finally here, and with 10 years of professional civil engineering experience, who better than to take you though the brand new poly bridge game!? This time I recreate three randomly selected bridges in Poly Bridge 3 whilst also fixing a marriage with the power of engineering!

I'm very happy to see The Liberty Bridge(Budapest) in this series, thanks Matt!
You were right, in the Second World War the Germans bombed this bridge together with all the bridges in Budapest, so the enemy could not follow them. It has been renovated several times since then. The decoration on the top of the bridge represents a mythological bird called Turul, which is a national symbol for Hungarians.
People often like to sit out on the bridge to drink and relax (Cozy place for dates). The bridge is often closed to cars, in which case the bridge can be used freely for social gatherings and events.
And on one side, you have the engineer university, but on other side, the uni of the engineer's mortal enemy... economists.
It is my favorite bridge in the city. So very pretty, with all that steel and rivets and hard core victorian engineering. Plus there is an amazing hotel on the Buda side of the river and an even better covered market on the Pest side. No reason at all to go more than 10 blocks from the Liberty Bridge unless you're going for all that touristy stuff.
@@europ_everi_niceand architects, like I want to be 😈
My grandparents lived in Twin Falls, so I’ve been across the modern Perrine bridge many times. Didn’t expect to see a location I’ve been to in this series, quite a pleasant surprise, though the bridge design you recreated was replaced before I was born. The Snake River below is quite a sight to see in real life.
I wish he did the modern one. I think its the only bridge you can base jump from in the US
is that the bridge that was by niagra falls
@@EdwinJThompson No, it's in a city called Twin Falls, Idaho
Nothing makes you happier then when Matt builds a bridge you drive across every day lol
Man, if he made the Cheasapeke bay Bridge, it'd need to be long as hell XD
@@HypeFlexingtonyeah isn’t it like 3-5 miles long?
@@Mets2015WorldSeries I think
Üdv!
About a mile. I drive over it often as I live about 30 minutes away
It would be nice to see the 'Erasmusbrug' in Rotterdam, Netherlands being added to the list. I think it is a unique and most definitely beautiful bridge!
If you want a real challenge, try making the Dragon Bridge (Da Nang) in Vietnam! It’s yellow so you may need to build it out of wood if you wanna be color accurate, and it serpents through the top and bottom of the bridge. There are foundations though so I think it’d be possible to make. Plus then you have to accommodate the architect’s impractical urge to put a non structural dragon head at the end of the bridge.
I actualy know but he is going to struggle of th hand
Omg!!!! Thank you to whoever suggested this bridge! I came to this episode thinking "wow it would be crazy if someone entered my home towns bridge but even if by some chance that they did, it would never get picked" but what do you know it, the Perrine bridge from Twin Falls Idaho. The canyon is absolutely beautiful to walk across and I love kayaking or paddle boarding underneath the new designed bridge
My father operated a crane on a barge in the Mississippi River to help build the Hernando Desoto Bridge. Thank you for featuring it today! It always makes me proud to tell people about our bridge. Even if the inspectors aren't always competent...
It is very pleasing in its simplicity and beauty! It's lovely that your family has something like that to be proud of!
Yikes. Yeah that huge crack that inspections missed a couple years back. That was a scary one. I was circulating the news story around my structures office that week.
That's awesome! I drive over that bridge a few times a year going from Oklahoma to see family and friends in Memphis, where I grew up. That crack a few years ago sure added some time to our commute, lol. That I-55 bridge just couldn't handle the amount of traffic.
19:25 So happy to see Memphis get some love! The Hernando de Soto bridge is too underrated imo
I live in Memphis and was shocked to see it.
Can you add the Hålogaland Bridge to The Wheel Of Bridgetune?
Its the longest suspension bridge in the arctic circle at 1533 meters, and is located in the Norwegian city of Narvik, known for the first german defeat in ww2 (also the movie "Narvik") and the iron ore it exports.
I was one of the many who helped building it.
You should definetly do movie star bridges. How about River Khwae Bridge, Thailand (starring in ‘Bridge over the river Kwai’) and John Frost bridge, Netherlands (starring in ‘A bridge too far’). Fun fact about the latter, the bridge seen in the movie is not the actual bridge in Arnhem, but a similar bridge in Deventer.
I'm glad that one of the Budapest bridges made it into the series. It was very cool. Good job Mr Engineer!
I would like to see some Polish bridges in your series, especially from Krakow, such as the Kotlarski Bridge or the Zabłocie-Grzegórzki Pedestrian and Bicycle Footbridge or the Piłsudzki Bridge. They are not big bridges like the American ones but they are unique! I love these series!
this could be great!
The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge would be great to see - technically three separate bridges in one, it has two double-level traditional suspension bridges sharing a center anchorage pier on the western half, and an asymmetrical self-anchored single-span, single-level suspension section on the eastern half, followed by a causeway.
Day 2:
Can you build the Tsing Ma Bridge?
It is an very very long suspension bridge of over 2000m.
It is the longest suspension bridge that both carries trains and cars over, connecting Hong Kong Island and Tsing Ma Island. It is the longest bridge in fully in Hong Kong.
Please build it, It has been part of my childhood everytime my family went to the airport on vacation, I used to get excited everytime I was crossing it, watching the cable hang from a curved concrete structure really makes me glad. It would be an honour for me that you build this feat of engineering. There is no deceration and complete engineering.
Crazy idea instead of just realistic Bridges, how about realistic budgets? Take a budget from a real bridge and see what you can do in Polybridge.
YES
15 hours later: I spent 100M and that’s only 1/10 😭😭😭
Fort Pitt Bridge in Pittsburg, PA, USA
The story behind this is that I was in Geometry class and I had a project where I had to build a scale model of something. Diving deep into my engineering nature and love for bridges, I chose this to build my scale model. It took me 4 hours and a lot of procrastinating, but I got one hundred (mostly because I was the only person in the school to choose a bridge) and the teacher even encouraged me to keep engineering. My want for more projects to engineer grew, thank you Texas Schooling.
Matt needs to build this, it has an arch, and has two layers. He might even try to use springs, for the color despite the architecture in using things for the color.
Not sure if you've already done this bridge or if it's on the wheel, but the Astoria-Megler Bridge is very unique in my opinion as half of it is barely above the water's surface, and would probably be an interesting bridge to showcase.
It's the longest continuous truss bridge in North America as well.
Honestly, he could totally do a video JUST on the coast route bridges. So many cool ones through the entire thing!
Hi Matt, I'm so happy you picked my favourite bridge in Budapest. We have lots of bridges, and one of them is the Chain bridge.
It was built in 1849 and, at the time, was the longest chain suspension bridge, spanning over 200 metres. At the time of its construction, it was regarded as one of the modern world's engineering wonders, with only two foundations due to the strong current of the Danube.
The Fehmarn Sound bridge would be a great addition to the wheel. It’s 963 meters long and connects the island of fehmarn with the German mainland
Fun engineering fact about the Liberty bridge: at the time of design the theories to calculate an over-constrained beam were not yet laid down, so the bridge is actually two beams with two supports - with a sizable overhang over the pillars -, and a small piece in the middle held up by 4 pins - pin diameter approximately 200 mm. This middle section is about 40 meters in length, and you can nicely see the octagonal nuts on the end of the bolt is Google street view. :)
i think this real bridge series is my favorite in PB3
Perrine memorial bridge... Like, it really looks like the engineer sat for hours in polybridge and finally made a strong enough bridge that works pretty well. If I saw that bridge for the first time back in 1927 when it was built, I'm not quite sure how much Id trusting that thing.
Very cool looking bridges ! Good job ! I have two ideas of bridges to build, they are at Bordeaux in France and they are the bridge of stone (pont de pierre) and the bridge Jacques Chaban-Delmas.
Hey Matt, you should do the Perrine Memorial Bridge in Idaho. Nobody would know what it is, and it's a gorgeous bridge. Or the Owsley Bridge. The Moyie River Canyon Bridge is very truss-y. There's a lot more great bridges in this state, but those are the ones I think you'd like the best!
Edit: I wrote this before watching the video! And then you actually did that bridge! Oops!
@matt, ask the devs for color control.
Why don't you use an even number span just for your own sanity. If you use 60 or 40m the quarter are easier to calculate
Matt, please add Kotlarski Bridge, Cracow. Think you'll like it. Pat Paddy please!
Im from Michigan in the US and I would love to have the Mackinac Bridge added to the Wheel! By total length the Mackinac Bridge, at 5 miles long, remains one of the longest bridges of its kind!
It's already on the wheel
Another great bridge to add is the Rio-Antirrio bridge in Greece. it's one of the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and the longest of the fully suspended type (according to Wikipedia). It also had a lot of engineering challenges and the "engineering feats" section on the Wikipedia page is worth a read. It's a gorgeous bridge and definitely a BILF candidate!
can you recreate the Hörnbrücke from Kiel Germany. It is the only bridge in the world that works according to the three-panel folding principle.
0:17 Based on the current acceleration and velocity of the wheel, I'd say the bridge looks like either the Great Seto Bridge or the Liberty Bridge. Or did I miss the point?
More timberborn!
Just crossed the Liberty bridge minutes ago... You can climb up and sit in the middle on the bridge, it gives a great view onto Budapest.
The Clifton suspension bridge would be really cool in game I think!
Was going to suggest too.
Whilst you've done this style bridge before, the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver, Canada, would be a cool one to do. Albeit, it's a 100 year old bridge AND only 3 lanes, so it's pretty outdated for a major bridge connection. But, they can't tear down the bridge to replace it due to the national government designating it a Nation Historic Site of Canada, back in 2005.
Gotta be the Pattullo Bridge! Beautiful arch bridge, sad that's its being taken down and being replaced
By the way, its in canada to help out
The Rio-Antirrio Bridge, officially the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge, is one of the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and longest of the fully suspended type. it would be cool to see it
There was a bridge in my youth that I would often use as a diving point. I was always fascinated by it's function.
It was about a 50 foot span that sat upon a giant pivot point. When boat traffic needed to pass, it would turn 90 degrees opening up two separate pathways for boats entering and leaving.
I don't think poly bridge allows for such a setup, but if anyone could build it... It's a real engineer.
Add Sydney harbour bridge! If you don’t already. And I wish the devs make it so that you can recolour steel
9:33 Geotechnical engineers be like:
Vancouver, BC. has a lot of neat short bridges. such as the Second Narrows Rail Bridge which is an elevating bridge
most our bridges are simple causeway or suspension (such as Pitt River bridge, which is the widest bridge in the world),
But I would nominate the Patullo Bridge as the Truss style or the Coast Miridian Overpass as its a cable stayed bridge over a railyard!
Another great bridge in Budapest is the Margit bridge, please add that to the wheel!
It has an island in the middle, and it is all under truss and foundations. It also has a 30ish degree turn in the middle, but I don't think you will be able to show that lol
I’m not sure if it’s already on the list but how about adding the Tamar bridge from the south west of England.
Btw love the videos, keep up the hard work.
I have some nice German bridges for you: "Hohenzollern Bridge" in Cologne (steel truss and arches), "Devils Bridge" in Kassel (add looking design), "Oberbaum Bridge" in Berlin (beautiful double decker brick build with two towers), or the "Golitzsch Viaduct" (largest brick bridge in the world with arches galore)
Could you add the Tromsøbrua (Tromso Bridge)
on the wheel if Bridgetune?
This IS a very beautiful bridge in the Northern Norway
I'd love to see the Cortland Street Drawbridge (Chicago) in this series. It's the progenitor of the Chicago bascule bridge type, apparently, and has some very cool movement that would be fun to see in poly bridge
Much love dude thanks for doing the Perrine bridge in Twin Falls, i didnt know it had been rebuilt. I walked along the under arch as a teen so this was cool to see thanks!
I present to you: The Kinzua Bridge! It’s a bridge that had a lot of history moving Pennsylvania Coal, I guess it was an engineering feat for it’s time. Once a guy flew a plane through it for a stunt, idk. But THEN a tornado ripped half of it down! The rest still stands, what fell is still just laying there all mangled as a testament to the power of nature I guess? But you can walk to the edge and stand on a glass pane and look down.
I actually got to ride on it before it collapsed so that’s kinda cool. It was for trains btw… idk if that disqualifies it since it’s not for cars… but even if it doesn’t make the wheel, it’s definitely worth a google
Love the real bridge builds, My father was a young ironworker on the second bridge I believe. He is long passed so unable to clarify however I am fairly certain that was where I do remember as a child him taking us to see the gorge and bridge. Yes I was born very late in his life and he was not even 18 when he worked on that bridge in 1927. He used his brothers birth certificate to fake his age. Another he was proud of was the Koocanusa Bridge in Montana.
Rio-Niteroi Bridge is cool one, but in my opinion, the most beautiful bridge in South America is the JK Bridge in Brasilia with its triple arches, approximately 165M USD in today money.
As an Idahoan I love seeing a bridge I grew up driving over. It's okay you pronounced the name wrong, we still love you, Matt!
I’d love to see the old Quebec bridge added. It failed twice during construction and remains one of Canada’s most infamous pieces of infrastructure. Todays iteration is still the worlds largest cantilevering bridge. Thanks Matt!
Would be nice to see the Loschwitz Bridge (also called 'Blue Miracle') on the wheel. It's a cantilever truss bridge and at the time considered a technological masterpiece, as it is 280m long without supporting river piers. Hence the name 'Blue Miracle'. Today it is still considered a miracle, but that is because it is still standing and in use. During WW2 the SS tried to destroy the bridge, but two residents climbed up the bridge and cut the detonator wires.
The Perrine Bridge is massive. Driving over it is an experience. Twin Falls isn't a big city, though you should definitely visit if you ever jump across the pond. I love seeing that part of the country.
Denver has some nice bridges. The Denver millennium bridge is awesome, also the Highland bridge is nice
Great video as always Matt!
I got a recommendation for an interesting build for a bridge you could try building.
Its called the "blue wonder" (Blaues Wunder in german). Its one of the landmarks of the city Dresden, the state monopol of saxony. Its called the blue wonder, because of its color (blue), and the interesting building technique used, that surprised many people that it works (wonder). Also it was one of the first european pier-free bridges.
Hope youll build it, if not its also alright.
Have a great day (or night, depending on where you are)
Imagine Matt making the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. Not only would it be insanely long, but insanely boring. I’d love to see it anyway tho lol
would love to see Canada represented on the wheel. the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge may be an excellent fit, since it honours those who lost their lives in bridge construction.
Bro twin falls bridge has people jumping off it all the time… they use parachutes but still!
Mackinac Bridge in Michigan might be a cool one to do
Pls do the Euro briges from the Euro banknotes
Fun fact: in 2002 the briges were disigned as fictional briges so no countries were favoured over others. Ten years later a Dutch city called Spijkenisse liked these briges and built them all over the same waterway
IDK about the ones in the video yet, but the thumbnail bridge is the Hernando-DeSoto bridge over the Mississippi River in Memphis, TN, one that I see most every day. My uncle, who is a structural engineer specializing in bridges, had a corner office on the sixth floor of the AutoZone building downtown, with a northern and Western exposure windows that provided a beautiful close up view of the bridge. Usually the view you'll see will be from the northwest, so you can see the pyramid and the Memphis skyline behind the bridge. Anyways, the thumbnail looks like his office view as there's no skyline, though her could see the pyramid as it's almost under the bridge, it's parking lot it's under it, and the abutment is on mid Island, which is across the river chute from the parking lot, and the island also houses the Mississippi River museum. Extra cool place. Ok so now I'll time stamp it, cause it's the third one. Also, that view is from the Northeast, a rather unusual side to photograph the bridge from. 14:08 you did a fine job representing it with what's available.
I was expecting to see Steins;Gate here :D
Lovely video as usual! If I can make a suggestion for a few bridges, you could add the "Garabit Viaduct" located in France. Another popular bridge in Paris would be the "Pont des Arts" (Art Bridge), it is a pedestrian bridge, and it's the one where couples would attach a padlock to the bridge and throw the key into the river to "seal" their love here.
Love from France!
Could you add the bridge "Jacques Chaban-Delmas" in Bordeaux to the wheel of bridgetune please? You have to add a bit of France between all these usa bridges don't you :)
14:48 - Bridge 3 is the bridge that connects Arkansas and Tennessee at Memphis (not sure what the name is). It had a major crack in the structure back in 2021 that closed it down for months (maybe even a year). Bit of controversy on who had to pay for the repairs too. (edit: After finishing the segment, I was right! Where's my Engineer Points?)
5:22 just for this, you are now my favorite youtuber
Hopefully the Tacoma Narrows Bridge is on the wheel.
Hopefully the millennium pedestrian bridge from London is there too
12:00 in, not too far from my house. Never saw the original. But the new one is there, and lots of base jumping with parachutes still happen. Good vid
I would love to see the Thatcher Ferry Bridge, currently known as the Bridge of the Americas. It's one of the bridges that allows you to cross the Panama Canal by car. Either that one, or the Centennial Bridge, which also goes across the canal. The first one is a historical structure and the latter is an award winning one.
Relatively new bridge (less than 20 years old) but a nice one you should read up on is penobscot narrows bridge at the Hancock-Waldo county line in Maine U.S.A. made incredibly quickly of granite from the surrounding area with a built-in observation deck at the top of one of the towers, this cable-stayed bridge is a massive tourist attraction coupled with it's location to an uncompleted coastal defense fort Knox it makes for a special site to visit.
I was shocked to see the Bandra-Worli Sealink, a bridge in my hometown of mumbai on the wheel. I recently got back from San Francisco and am in love with the design of the bay bridge and would love to see it in the series. Thanks!
I just got to experience the Perrine Memorial Bridge in Twin Falls, ID, USA 2 weeks ago. It was quite impressive.
the Arial lift bridge Duluth, MN
I’d love to see you build the viaduc du littoral, it’s a french bridge on Reunion Island. I don’t really know if it’s possible to build it in polybridge, if not you’ll discover a new bridge anyway. On the same island there also lots of bridges on La route des Tamarins and also an old bridge called Pont suspendu de la rivière de l’Est. Hope you’ll have fun discovering tropical bridges we have there! I love your videos and I hope you and paddy have a good day 😊
Hey Matt, I loved watching you play mini motorways and downloaded it myself to join in!! They’ve updated it and it now has train stations, I think you’d really enjoy it x
The Infinity Bridge from Stockton-On-Tees. It's not a flashy bridge but it has a nice gimick/modern look to it. Plus Stockton is known for its bridges and the Infinity Bridge does stand out.
Would love to see you do the Eads bridge in St. Louis Missouri for one of these! It's the oldest surviving bridge over the Mississippi, the first cantilever bridge design put into use on earth, and when completed was the longest rigid structure every made at the time. It's a national historic landmark and features some very cool metal truss work
Shout out from a born and bred Memphian! Cool to see you do the Hernando de Soto Bridge. Speaking of it being over stressed, you should check out the crack found in 2021 that caused them to shut down the crack immediately until repairs could be completed.
I want to see how you would do the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in Virginia, I’m sure that would be interesting to say the least 😊
I second this!
The Samuel Beckett Bridge from Dublin is a marvel of engineering, definitely deserves a spot on the wheel.
Another great vid! Have you ever played Stormworks before? It’s pretty fun, you should check it out
Bridge Submission: Lewis and Clark Bridge, located in Longview Washington, USA, over the Columbia River. It's a cantilever bridge, if that impacts the submission.
I don't know if it's unique in the world (it probably isn't), but I thought it was neat as a kid, and reminds me of home.
Not sure if it’s already on the wheel, but I’d love to see the Royal Alexandra Bridge that spans the Ottawa River, connecting Ontario and Quebec between Ottawa and Gatineau respectively. It was the first cantilevered bridge in Canada, by Canadians, and the National Capital Commission (NCC) is in the process of replacing it since it’s reached end-of-life.
I, personally, have distinct childhood memories of that bridge. Only one lane of it is paved; the other lane is just metal grating, so I’d be in the car all excited to go on a trip to Quebec, and suddenly there’d be a “ka-thump” and “vrrrrRRRRRRR” that always spooked the shit out of me as we made our way onto and over the bridge.
You should add the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle
Id love seeing fictional bridges in poly bridge one day. Like maybe dragonbridge from skyrim, or the bridge that pewdiepie did an oopsie on
Could you build the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge? I know its a simple bridge but it would mean a lot to me. :)
I would love to see Samuel de Champlain bridge in Montréal! Beautiful bridge that opened few years ago! Awesome video matt! Always a pleasure watching you!
Requesting the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge 👀
I'd love to see the Köhlbrandbrücke from Hamburg, Germany! It's planned to be demolished, but there's an ongoing debate about whether to rebuild it or replace it with a tunnel. I'm sure Matt has an opinion on that (bridges are obviously preferable!)
Hi, I am a fellow engineer (mechanical) from Sweden and I would love to see the Öresunds-bridge. A marvellous engineering project and a great collaboration between Sweden and Denmark.
My University is literally 50 meters away from Libert bridge, Budapest and walked on it yesterday, so lovely to see it in a video too
Ahh, the Liberty Bridge, I love it so much. I used to live next to it, going over it often by foot or tram. Great bridge. Although the best bridge in Budapest is the Erzsébet (Elisabeth?) Bridge, which has no foundation, just a long suspention, and all white. Might want to build that too.
5:22 I never expected to see okabe here... As if this channel wasn't already fantastic 😅
DeSoto was a conqueror that met his end not too far from where the bridge is. First stop Florida, 2nd the Memphis area. "The history of Hernando de Soto and Florida" by Bernard Shipp is a good read.
And its the largest letter in the world, its called "The Memphis Bridge" mane.
Honasly we never saw a polish bridge in the series so can you the legions of marshal jozev putski bridge in the wheel of bridge tune?
Man I literally crossed the new bridge at twin falls a couple of days ago 🙂🙂🙂😐.
While there we also saw some people parachuting off the bridge it was cool.
You should definitely add a bridge called Puente de La Salve in Bilbao, Spain. Its a cool looking one and its in front of the Guggenheim museum
With the perrine memorial bridge he built the gorge around the bridge 😂
12:52 There's a scrolling Nordic Rune composition on that bridge: its relevant to giant-troll-thwarting I guess.
I really love your bridges the real-life bridges or the normal bridges you build in polybridge3 and I really love your channel
Now i want to Represent Germany a little so:
x Rheinbrücke Konstanz (Old Rhine Bridge (Konstanz))
x Strelasundquerung (Strelasund Crossing)
x Kochertalbrücke (Kocher Viaduct)
x Hohenzollernbrücke (Hohenzollern Bridge)
x Fehmarnsundbrücke (Fehmarn Sound Bridge)
x Marienbrücke (Neuschwanstein) (i dont know the english name)
x Oberbaumbrücke (Oberbaum Bridge)
Now these are all just Briges for Cars usw (I dont want to make it to complex with the GErman Engineered all in German bridges)
