Only player with 2 safeties in a game, playing with the Rams against the Green Bay Packers on October 21, 1973!

He sure was a giant I forgot all about that just like Rosie Grier went from New York to L.A.

Rosie was a year before Sherman tore up the Giants defense. He went in 1962 and then after 1963 Huff went to Washington and Modzelewski went to Cleveland and the defense collapsed. Robustelli was 39 and went from 14.5 sacks to 6.5 sacks and retired after 1964.
With 3/4 of the original Fearsome Foursome gone, Katcavage went from 61.5 sacks from 1961 to 64 to 5.5 sacks in 1965 and he was never the Pro Bowl end anymore. He played until 1968 and retired but in his last 4 years only had 21.5 sacks despite playing all 56 games.

Was actually dealt to the Pats and refused to report and then was dealt to the Rams. Dryer was traded to the New England Patriots in February 1972 for three draft choices (a first and a sixth in 1972; a second in 1973).
Because Dryer had not signed a contract for the 1971 season, he was eligible to become a free agent in May 1972. He refused to report to the Patriots unless they signed him to a long-term contract making him the highest paid defensive lineman in pro football. The Patriots refused to meet his demands and instead dealt him to the Los Angeles Rams for a 1973 first round draft pick.
Dryer relied on great speed and quickness. He had 103 sacks during his career and recovered 20 fumbles. He had 29 sacks in 42 games as a Giant.
In 1973 Dryer had 2 safeties in one game against the Packers.

I wonder if he ever said "works for me" but back in the late 60's and early 70's like after he got a sack or when he recorded those 2 safeties in 1 game...or if that was just a 80's thing.

Though the new players that came in and replaced Dryer, Kanicki, Shay, and Lurtsema on the Giants' defensive line were good, the defense lost it's edge with them gone. They could be fierce as a group.

How was Hunter able to go from the Giants to the Rams, with no free agency, back then....?

Contract disputes.he wanted an absurd amount of money ,the giants wouldnt pay so was dealt to new England for picks, there he wanted longterm deal with top pay and new England also refused to meet his demands so he was traded again to Los Angeles where he and Youngblood became a defensive powerhouse
