  • I am trying out a new string trimmer attachment in this video. Darwin's grip is a handle that helps reduced back pain and allow you to stand with better posture while using a string trimmer. I installed darwin's grip on my trimmer and show how it works including using it on a hill. If you would like to buy a darwins grip attachment for yourself, use code "creel10" to save 10% at www.darwinsgrip.... Enjoy the video.

I just bought the v5.0 and used it twice and already love it. Total game changer for me. I also found for edging it works great to put the stock handle upside down and further down the shaft which gives much better leverage and control when it's flipped upside down

I purchased 1 to try it out. Loved it, bought 2 more.
I have mine mounted to where the grip is to the left side of the trimmer shaft. That way I can square up my body instead of my left shoulder being forward. I found that when I'm string trimming for several hours at a time, it tended to pull through my rib area in my back. Repositioning to the left side and allowing my body to square up solved that problem. No problems mounting in rack as my edgers, hedger and trimmers hang vertically inside my trailer.
    Huge space saver.
    BTW, walk backwards edging too.👍💯🤔

I got a small bent shaft trimmer and 5.8-.9”so I’m not the tallest person but the last few times with the trimmer I have noticed my back getting really sore. I have a back injury and seems I just started taking pride in mowing my lawn I am feeling it so much. I’m getting a new trimmer, straight shaft and that might help but that arm would help for sure. It’s a great way of solving it a problem for sure

i have mine mounted under the trimmer tube 16" from the gear box. I also have it rolled out to the left maybe 15-20 degrees (easier to change directions l to r). now you can remove that worthless plastic handle. it will take a few adjustments to get it where you like it. do not over torque the screws, if you break the clamp NO WARRANTY.
for those who may not know, Darwin was the name of the first orangutan to walk upright. just a little fyi.

I use one on my edger and love it. I wish they would just extend the trimmer a foot and tilt the head about 15 degrees to keep the head parallel with the ground. I also have the Husqvarna 525ls, what kind and size of string do you prefer?

  • @justintoole2580
    @justintoole2580 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I agree that it would take some getting used to. One of the guys at work has one attached to his trimmer due to a back condition he has and he swears by it but for me I find that I feel like I’m not able to move as fast with the grip. Plus on a larger trimmer the last thing I want is more weight.

  • @flat4314

I love mine I have 2 of them. I couldn't go back to using a trimmer without one. They fit on my racks just fine. My only complaint is I had to shorten mine and reweld it so it would attach to the power head and not the attachment on my echo pas.

I did buy extra strimmer safts, so already have mulching blade, clearing saw and grass blade heads ready to fit in seconds! 👍

I bought 2 of the original version when this item first came out.
The mount was very cheesy and kept coming loose from vibration even if I used loctite on the bolts and the hand grip had an enormous amount of vibration in it.
It looks like they improved and upgraded both of those things.
I should have waited a few years before purchasing.
    A classic example of don’t be a hero.let someone else take the beach,lol !

This may sound backwards but I recently just bought a straight shaft trimmer and it really does a number on my back.. The one I had before was a curved shaft and it was very easy on my back.. I think it's because in order to get an even cut I feel like I have to hold it on an angle on the straight shaft, where as it's perfectly setting on the ground with a curved.. I just bought it two days ago so I may return it for a smaller one or just return it to get the curved on fixed
