Unbelievable that they were playing there. Lost my hearing for a few hours but it was worth it. The best of Southern rock and roll....

I was working in security with a cool older white man named Mr.Toddwick. My girlfriend broke up with me after 7 years and I was crushed I mean destroyed Mr. Toddwick let me take a shot of his whiskey put this song on for me and told me to just listen. Man, when I say this song hits too the heart and soul. He looked at me and said this is what he listened to after his wife divorced and took his daughters and moved to Wales. You're a lucky man to have a friend like Mr Toddwick. Glad to hear you listened to him and this song, lots of hard won wisdom in both. Hope you're doing better...

“I’m gonna climb a mountain, the highest mountain and jump off nobody gonna know” I’ve just heard this song for the first time, I can literally feel that line in my soul
This song shows you the effort and professionalism these musicians put in their music compared to the crap they put out today, the Allman Brothers are another great example of Southern rock!
December 1955 John! What a wonderful time to be born! What a wonderful life growing up. I was born at the Army Hospital at Fort Jackson, Columbia SC. But moved to the mountains of Western NC when I was 2.
I have sailed with Jake and now I'm at home dealing with my wife with cancer and I listen to these guys singing and they inspire me to be a better man . ❤
RedGeoBlaze I hate modern music, especially the commercial shit that is spewed all over the television, I just mute commercials now...but I was born in the 80's so I tend to appreciate all that came before me, not the other way around...I know what you mean though...
RedGeoBlaze, I hear you (brother or sister)... loud and clear, I listen to music from the fifteenth century to the 19190s. Sometimes I make my own. I’m not much of a guitarist, but I like what I come up with. I play for my wife, my brothers, my nieces, my nephew, my mom & stepfather & of course for me. I’ve Never been able to play anyone else’s music, but songs like this inspire me. I like the progressions, the pick patterns, the tone, timbre & inspiration in songs like this.
62 years old and still get chills listening to this. Been married to my bride for 31 years and still have a lot of good years ahead of us. Let the craziness pass us by and keep on livin'!
My daddy was a singer and songwriter and also played lead and rhythm guitar. This song was one of his favorites. I lost my dad this past June... I'm crying right now!!!
I think your daddy would be proud to know that you're listening to one of his favorite songs. Let those tears be tears of joy; he would probably want it that way.
Born in 1958 I grew up in Spartanburg, SC and picked a little with a buddy, Stuart Swanlund, who went on to play with the Marshall Tucker Band starting in the 1980's. My Mom & Dad used to come over and watch Stuart and us play music at his house as he lived only one street over from me. That boy could pick a guitar like nobody's business - even when he was just 15 years old. Mom, Dad and Stuart are gone now. I live in Florida these days, but when I hear the opening notes of this song I get a little lump in my throat thinking of home and lost loved ones. P.S. Thank you Doug Gray for treating my 3 daughters like princesses whenever we would come see you all play in Florida through the years.
I've heard many songs today that utilize the strings, orchestral. My favorite rock band of today tours with a cello and violin. But yeah, not many have winds today. I saw a foo fighters acoustic set that had a violinist also. The only classic rock band that comes to mind is Kansas with the violin, but there are probably others.
your so right. today's music has no soul, no depth, no feeling. Today's music is just fake. They're kids singing about things they've never felt or experienced.
Y'all are just looking in the wrong places. There's significantly more music today than there has ever been before, so a lot of this style gets lost among the chaff.
Marshall Tucker was a blind piano tuner in Spartanburg SC. The Caldwell bros and few others moved into Marshall's former building to record music. They saw his name on the door and said, what the hell, we are the Marshall Tucker Band. I shit you not.
I was a very "short for my age 5 year old" when this song came out. My sister played this song over and over on the record. My short self would be in the back yard, the grass being up to my eyeballs. The sun was warm, the wind was gentle, the grass was soft, and the earth was rich. It felt like this song poured the warmth, and the gentleness, and the softness in to my soul. I felt safe and content, with the smell of thee evening meal wafting through my back yard. I remember the melodies and note of this song would carry my imagination to the spent days events. The magic of youth and the eternity of a 5 year olds imagination would make the past events seem much more sensational than reality. To this day when I hear this song. I time travel back to when I was a barefoot 5 year, sinning around in circles, in the soft grass, under that warm sun, in the path of that gentle breeze, till I got dizzy, thinking it was dancing, so damn happy to be alive.
This song my friend brings the clock back to a time that can never be duplicated no matter how hard technology tries. This is truly a blessing and reminds me of real people real friends and a country that comes together to enjoy each other's small accomplishments

No auto tune.... No pathetic, repetitious tripe... No sampling.... Real honest lyrics with real honest music played on real instruments... This music will never return.
Something interesting I read: Toy Caldwell, who died of heart failure in 1993, was the band's guitarist and wrote most of their songs. His wife Abbie Caldwell told us: "He didn't read music, and played by ear. He jotted down words on any piece of paper available."
Man tears come when i hear this song. 62 years old and miss my friends, family who passed away and those ole days of partying carefree! Time passed so quickly!

1975 to 1981 created the most awesome music available to humanity. The artists were so versed in their craft it produced incredible work. It began to die around Madonna and Wham. It's been dying ever since. A few exceptions here and there, but dying none the less.
The version of "Can"t you See" that I have was recorded in 1973! I was 4 yrs. old!!!! A great southern rock classic that is still rocking out today!!!!!
Can picture everything Toy’s singing here, a tale as old has time. They sure were storytellers their harmonies & musicianship are off the charts great. A favorite band.

I'm a child of the Boomer generation (70 years old) and I am blessed to have grown up with the begining of a music revolution that still exist with the songs and artists who to this day are classic and never get tired of listening too.
Right there with ya brother ! Turned 70 end of April . We had some great music in high school days ! It was righteous dude ! LOL !
Me too, my friend. I’m 74.
Me too. Turn 60 on Monday 2024, June 10th
I'm 68, I saw these guys play in Asbury Park NJ along with the Outlaws, must have been 1975, and I know exactly what you mean!
Me too! A lot of music from our youth has really stood the test of time! Also brings back some great memories!
I’m Navajo. When I heard this song, it reminded me when I was dressing my barrel horse before a Indian Rodeo 😢😭 ❤️ ❤️

I got a Pony for my 12th birthday and my Dad and I would ride all the Trails around near our home. Miss him So much.
Classic. And after almost 50 years, it still brings chills.
True
You must have married my ex-wife are at the very least dated her. LOL
It's some song
I was working in security with a cool older white man named Mr.Toddwick. My girlfriend broke up with me after 7 years and I was crushed I mean destroyed Mr. Toddwick let me take a shot of his whiskey put this song on for me and told me to just listen. Man, when I say this song hits too the heart and soul. He looked at me and said this is what he listened to after his wife divorced and took his daughters and moved to Wales. Great Man Mr Toddwick was. Bless That Man And Marshall Tucker
Go Mr toddwick
You're a lucky man to have a friend like Mr Toddwick. Glad to hear you listened to him and this song, lots of hard won wisdom in both. Hope you're doing better...
@paulfly3121 Yeah I'm doing better and thanks for asking. Sometimes all you need is a wise friend and a great song to get you through it.
I'm glad you looked past his whiteness.
@morrison1405 Color doesn't matter im not racist but to tell the story right I have to provide evidence.
My best friend and I went to this concert our freshman year of college in 1981. She passed away in December 2020, and when I heard this song tonight, I wanted to call her so badly! Still hurts but the memories are like yesterday ❤️
I feel you! My friend Randy who I met when we were 7 year olds in 1980 were best friends for 41 years until his passing last year. We used to get drunk and jam to this all the time but now he is gone and I feel so alone without him. RIP to your friend and mine. Think I'll have a drink for the both of them. 🍻
Peace
My Harley friend Bob was killed by a drunk on his way home from a biker show that was his jam miss you Bobbie bear 🙏🕯️🕊️🤘🎸🎙️

👍🇨🇦
This song shows you the effort and professionalism these musicians put in their music compared to the crap they put out today, the Allman Brothers are another great example of Southern rock!
what kind of music do you make?
@@TheYagimi Sorry, I don't make music because I'm not a gifted, talented musician, I just listen to it!
You have to look for good music today; it’s out there. Go to live clubs if you can, and get your feet wet
Wasn't Richard Petty #43
Allman Brothers were great and bands like Blackberry Smoke are carrying on with the tradition. Well worth checking out.
Thank you mom for raising me on classic rock. They don’t make music like this anymore.
I think mine too..
Hi
My Mamma raised me on a wide variety of music but I raised my babies on good old rock and roll. Always dialed into the classic station in the car!!!!
there's alot of new great music and bands but they get no radio play gotta find it
This is the shit when a woman done hit a man so hard
The thing about " Can't you see"is the lyrics tell a depressing tale while the music lifts you along. It never gets old.
Perfectly said. 👍♥️😘
👍 Words of Wisdom! Yep! Words of Wisdom! 🎵=🔑
This is real Southern Rock! I was born in 1955 so I lived through this era. Great music great cars, and great girls!!
Perfect Kevin !
Yeah ha
Kevin Yarbrough me too 1955 April
December 1955 John! What a wonderful time to be born! What a wonderful life growing up. I was born at the Army Hospital at Fort Jackson, Columbia SC. But moved to the mountains of Western NC when I was 2.

I have sailed with Jake and now I'm at home dealing with my wife with cancer and I listen to these guys singing and they inspire me to be a better man . ❤

It's a good song
MashaAllah, Kiss Ur Cute Son Buddy
Now that's raising your kid right. Good music never dies.
Dennis Alcazar He's 3 you could have played Fuck the police by NWA and he would have said the same thing!
I wonder if anyone else is sick of Modern music, and is looking to the old classics for something good to fill up a music playlist.
RedGeoBlaze I hate modern music, especially the commercial shit that is spewed all over the television, I just mute commercials now...but I was born in the 80's so I tend to appreciate all that came before me, not the other way around...I know what you mean though...
RedGeoBlaze hell yeah brother
RedGeoBlaze, I hear you (brother or sister)... loud and clear, I listen to music from the fifteenth century to the 19190s. Sometimes I make my own. I’m not much of a guitarist, but I like what I come up with. I play for my wife, my brothers, my nieces, my nephew, my mom & stepfather & of course for me.
I’ve Never been able to play anyone else’s music, but songs like this inspire me. I like the progressions, the pick patterns, the tone, timbre & inspiration in songs like this.
Damn I wonder what music from the 19190s will sound like.
you hit the nail on the head
62 years old and still get chills listening to this. Been married to my bride for 31 years and still have a lot of good years ahead of us. Let the craziness pass us by and keep on livin'!
Awesome congratulations have a beautiful life
same here, 65 and on year 49, let the memories roll!
nice. 48 here and 22 years strong
Hallelujah brother it ain’t easy but it’s life
Right on brother it's a miracle just just to find a good woman but to acknowledge it and cherish it I'd what matters ....cheers brother
My daddy was a singer and songwriter and also played lead and rhythm guitar. This song was one of his favorites. I lost my dad this past June... I'm crying right now!!!
So sorry for your loss, they say it does get better...gone but not forgoten.
I think your daddy would be proud to know that you're listening to one of his favorite songs. Let those tears be tears of joy; he would probably want it that way.
@@jwavada thank you! Thank you so much!!
@XGamerZoca Thank you sir.
One of the greatest songs ever written. It resonates with my heart and soul ❤️
If you don't like The Marshall Tucker Band...we probably wouldn't get along.
Got that right 👍🏻😊
Long lost brother!!!
@mrsvickigriffin long lost sister!
Brilliant 👍
Fucking A Right
Love how 70s bands used flute so much! Not locked into some prejudice where rock only includes drums, keyboards, guitars... So mellow and sublime.
Saw them but no flute. Not the original group. They sounded terrible!!
Song's been on repeat for the last 24 hours because it really resonates with the pain inside . Thank you Marshall Tucker Band :)
It's going to be okay
better with time , friend ❤
I hear ya that's why I looked for it tonight.
Keep your head up every day brother.
It’s my go to….come out on the other side my friend🌺
My go-to song. Be Well.
They sure don’t make music 🎶 like this anymore!!!
ADC6828 sad but true there young lady u said it best
your so right. today's music has no soul, no depth, no feeling. Today's music is just fake. They're kids singing about things they've never felt or experienced.
There is a good reason for that .....
This what I was raised on and I look back to this when I need some good tunez
Y'all are just looking in the wrong places. There's significantly more music today than there has ever been before, so a lot of this style gets lost among the chaff.
Just bought tickets for me and my 75 year old mom. CAN'T WAIT! Here's to making memories.
"You girls get your groove on like nobody's business, you hear"!

This classic never gets old. Southern Rock will always live on..thank-you MTB 🎶🎸🔥
👍 So True! MTB, ABB & Lynyrd Skynyrd. 🎵=🔑
Marshall Tucker was a blind piano tuner in Spartanburg SC. The Caldwell bros and few others moved into Marshall's former building to record music. They saw his name on the door and said, what the hell, we are the Marshall Tucker Band. I shit you not.
When I saw them in the 80's they had a blind piano player in the backround
truth
that is awesome info. thank you very much
Awesome
stonelove919 cool story man
FOLKS THIS IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT, THIS IS REAL MUSIC THAT TOUCHES THE SOUL!! 🙂👍
amen to that!

+Gerald Moreno Your description made me feel like I was right there with you. Oh to be young again.
Get by your self and put this sonmg on repeat. You will be young, for awhile anyay.
+Gerald Moreno Sure do miss those days...they still come around every once in a while. :)
Gerald Moreno Stay young in our hearts...
And we will forever hold our most cherished moments.
Oh yeah, for real. AI mean I never really came out of the 70,s
This song my friend brings the clock back to a time that can never be duplicated no matter how hard technology tries. This is truly a blessing and reminds me of real people real friends and a country that comes together to enjoy each other's small accomplishments
Your generation managed to put the country in the position it is currently in
I'm gonna take a freight train
Down at the station, Lord
I don't care where it goes
Gonna climb a mountain
The highest mountain
I'll jump off, nobody gonna know
Can't you see, whoa, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, she been doin' to me
I'm gonna find me
A hole in the wall
I'm gonna crawl inside and die
'Cause my lady, now
A mean ol' woman, Lord
Never told me goodbye
Can't you see, ohh, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me
I'm gonna buy a ticket, now
As far as I can
Ain't a-never comin' back
Ride me a southbound
All the way to Georgia, now
Till the train, it run out of track
Can't you see, ohh, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, she been doin' to me
Oh, Lord
Can't you see, whoa, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, whoa, can't you see
What that woman, she been doin' to me
Can't you see (oh, she's such a crazy lady), can't you see
What that woman (what that woman) she been doin' to me
Can't you see (Lord, I can't stand), can't you see
What that woman (ohh), she been doin' to me
Can't you see (I'm gonna take a freight train)
Can't you see (down at the station, Lord)
What that woman, she been doin' to me (ain't never comin' back) oh oh
Can't you see (gonna ride me a southbound, now)
Can't you see (all the way to Georgia, Lord)
What that woman, she been doin' to me (till the train run out of track), oh
So glad my dad raise me on this music make miss my dad very much.
I'm sorry, he must've been a great guy. Surely raised you right.
I miss my dad too- this was one of his favorites...
I miss my dad to bro
Same for me
Miss mine too........
No auto tune....
No pathetic, repetitious tripe...
No sampling....
Real honest lyrics with real honest music played on real instruments...
This music will never return.
This song, SUCH A GREAT CLASSIC
Pessimistic much
Something interesting I read: Toy Caldwell, who died of heart failure in 1993, was the band's guitarist and wrote most of their songs. His wife Abbie Caldwell told us: "He didn't read music, and played by ear. He jotted down words on any piece of paper available."
You clearly dont know good music...
But this will never die .
I will never tire of hearing this song. It will lift peoples spirits forever
Man tears come when i hear this song. 62 years old and miss my friends, family who passed away and those ole days of partying carefree! Time passed so quickly!
Time sure does pass fast and I'm just 55. Friends family missing now. And gosh aches and pains grow ever year. But nobody said we getting out alive sir. Great song to listen to
61 brother and yes we miss our friends and family. Some good times.
I'm only twelve, and I can tell they will never make iconic music like this anymore. This will be my favorite song for as long as I live.
Rock on little bro.. You've got great taste.. Maybe u can make something similar 👍👍
@@alejandroontiveros7052 What's funny is I'm mostly a metal head. Love ya broship. Rock on with me to this song mate.

+Max Mccool Showing my solidarity here. Even though I am a chick, it happened to me too. Like the live version, he didn't even say good bye to me even though we were together for 8 and a half years.
+Max Mccool Shit I have one that I never even slept with. And no I'm not talking about my mother.
This woman was just my goddess and I couldn't even touch her.
Call me a fool but it made me the very strong person I am now..
Ah the perils of being friendzoneded after being too pussy to score when given multiple opportunities.
+adglen41112 One of those things where gender doesn't apply dudette. All you need is heart and soul and eventually you'll experience the burn.
I'll soon get there. Thanks.
Im 65 and still get excited to hear this song. I still have my album, played it over and over and over ❣️❣️❣️
I was going to take a road trip with my ex and things didn't work out, I went alone and this played on the radio, I sang my broken heart out, felt like a brand new man after that. Stoped on the side of the road and watched the sunset, I felt so free! God bless America!
Driving down the gravel roads back home with my best buddies in the world. All of us singing along as we're headed out to go fishing for the day. God, it was great times.
One of the best rock songs ever written and recorded.
Reminds me of my dad all the time ❤🎤
Definitely
No one else does justice to this love ballad like Marshall Tucker Band!!!
I needed this one today. One of those days. I could hear Dad picking his guitar and singing along in heaven ❤️
Ugh this song hits so good. Can’t believe I forgot about this band till very recently. Nothing like rediscovering a band like this
And rediscover bob seger.
we named my son after them we lost him in February of 2013 he was 35 his birthday is this Friday March 18th they're playing here in Tucson Az this Friday on his birthday I'd give anything to see them but don't have the money but what a heavenly message from my son 💔

Simply, one of the greatest songs ever written.
I saw Marshall Tucker a couple of times in concert. They just don't make music this good anymore. Them Southern boys knew their shit. Yehaw!!!! ☮️
Woohoo doggy!
Yes they sure did
I'd like to thank the Marshall Tucker band for making my childhood bearable ❤
Can picture everything Toy’s singing here, a tale as old has time. They sure were storytellers their harmonies & musicianship are off the charts great. A favorite band.
Nothing, can ever replace the 60's and 70's bands. Still listening 2023, with a smile, and a toke FREELY✌️😎
Listening to this at 64 yrs old looking in the rear view mirror seeing all my troubles slowly fading out of sight shaking two fingers saying “Peace Out I’m Outta Here”!
Heard a clip of this song on Instagram, never heard it before. Thank you.
I'm French and I known, I listen to the musics for 40 years. yeah, I like this
When I hear this song, an image pops into my head of a bunch of friends hanging out outside, kicking back and having some brews, just relaxing and enjoying life. I wish I could have been a young adult in the 70's.
From those of us who were there, you would be welcome. Rock on little brother
Just keeping your mind what he's saying I'm a black man 55 this is one of my best song I ever heard

Youth is wasted on the young!
driving to St. Louis while my grandma was in Barnes Hospital on her death bed and this song played as I passed the arch... she pulled out of it and survived 4 more years... but I won't forget my best friend consoling me at the winery and she ended up dying sooner of cancer..... what a fucked up world... I love them both and wish they were both still here

It's more than that love is a powerful thing
It's so powerful that a woman have so much power over a man. We can't live without them unless u gay . I love a woman.
this was the frist song me and my dad would listen to when he would wake me up for school. ill never forget those mornings

This hits so differently at 50, then it did at 15. But it's still one of my favorites.
It hits differently at 72. How did time go by so fast?

One of the greatest train songs ever!
+Mahipal Virdy Yes, and THE best train song ever would have be Arlo Guthrie's City of New Orleans!!
#1
+Patrick Wagz I love Arlo Guthrie!
"Good morning, America, how are you?
Say, don't you know me? I'm your native son
I'm the train they call the City Of New Orleans
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done"
that was written by Steve Goodman...Arlo covered it.
Mahipal Virdy this really isn't a train song. It's about trying to escape being hurt by the woman that you love. The train mentioned was a metaphor.
Reminds me of bestie!!! We’d sit with a couple of cocktails & just enjoy some nice tunes!! She passed in 2020, Rest easy my sweet Melissa!
"Seal Team" introduced me to this gem. All the love.
Same
