    Made this tonight for the wife and I. It was very good. I'll make a few adjustments next time to suit my taste (less garlic), but overall it was very delicious. You're turning me into an Asian cook Seonkyoung. I'm loving it.

      @Jon C: from the red spot in the middle it should be a german Tefal, or maybe in the US the are called T-fal wok. Now my wok is (and I definitely prefer it) a heavy-duty cast-iron wok. 'cause still today I don't trust all of these coatings. The red spot in the middle of Seankyoungs wok will tell you when the perfect temperature has been reached. But most times, I want my wok to get smoking hot. To fry things in only seconds. Plus I've learned about cooking with a wok, you fry thinks in the middle of it, then need a rough surface to just push things aside in the wok, to cook your meat in the still hot middle. Without ever taking the veggies out. They will be sitting on the sides. Still warm. Then add your sauce and mix everything together. A rather old cooking-technique, that requires an old-style wok like this.
      Also I found out that you cannot bring a cast-iron wok to proper temperature on an electric stove with a "ceran" surface. I bought an induction heater especially to heat my wok. Induction can only heat up iron. No stainless or aluminiun! I'm fine with it, now!
      Hope this gave you the information needed.

      Here is the Pizza Egg Roll Recipe
      Ingredients
      Olive oil for deep flying in a pan
      Pepperoni and beef for toppings (all together till in small pieces) Note you can use any kinds of meat of your choice as long as they are blender together with pizza sauce
      Make sure if you are using beef cook first and seasoned and store in refrigerator till frozen
      1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
      1 jar of favored pizza sauce
      1(14 ounce) package egg roll wraps
      3 tablespoons of water
      1 egg
      Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Whisk egg and water together in a small bowl.
      Combine the pizza sauce, pepperoni, beef or any other kinds of meat of your choice in a blender or food processor. Process until pepperoni is well chopped and the sauce has thickened. Transfer sauce to a large bowl, and stir in mozzarella.
      Lay out one Eggroll wrapper on work surface. Place 1 tablespoon filling at the bottom center of the wrapper, leaving 1/2 inch border on each side. Lightly brush the wrapper edges with the egg mixture. Fold over both sides; roll up to encase filling in wrapper. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
      Deep fry pizza rolls in batches until crisp and golden brown, 5-9 minutes.
      Then enjoy (smiles)
      Hope you like it

    I had to substitute sake for the Chinese cooking wine but this came out so beautifully. Looked great, nice and crispy, and the sauce was amazing. I've tried so many recipes before and was never able to get it right. This was just the right amount of heat and sweet. The stuff from the local Chinese restaurant is WAY too sweet. Thank you so much for sharing!

    this is a great recipe, I especially like how you incorporate the batter with the diced chicken. the only thing I did do differently is when you are adding garlic chilli's and chili oil I heated the wok with some oil to toast the chili's. I also minced the garlic fine and mix it with minced ginger to add flavor.

    Made this 2 days ago and it was FANTASTIC! The reason why I subscribed to your channel: you are able to bring things to the point. Hats off! Never had it in the US. But this is just perfect.
    I know that there is about a million recipes about this dish. I watched a few.
    Next time I wanna add the same amount of ginger, when you add the garlic. And add a fine sliced scallion of green onion when adding the chicken, finally.
    The double frying is blast! Like I do it with my chicken-wings. And: starch instead of flour makes a difference. A very important thing.
    This is another: do-it-like-this recipe of yours. Thumbs up!

    this looks sooo good! I'll need to get a wok now

    • @Endgame901
      @Endgame901 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +moochimichimoo No wok required! Watch the video.
      edit: actually I'm retarded. That's a wok. Nevermind.
      Crucially though, that's a flat bottom wok on a gas burner. You actually wouldn't need to use a wok at all for this recipe. Woks work the way they do by getting hot quickly and completely. A gas burner isn't really capable of that. As far as wok usage is concerned, it's only marginally better than an electric stove. Chinese restaurants have burners that blast heat up the sides of the wok as well as the bottom too. Add in the fact that the wok she uses is flat bottomed, then you come to realize that her setup is only marginally better than using a regular old saucepan. So I go back to (half) of my original statement. No wok required! A relatively deep saucepan will work just as well for her recipe.

      +moochimichimoo - make sure you have a good extraction fan over the stove if using a wok - I don't and my ceiling (and top of cabinets) is a layer of grease. I wok a lot - good exercise ;o)

    • @Kenko706
      @Kenko706 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +moochimichimoo Fortunately, that sort of wok isn't that expensive, and although as noted a good frying pan would do, I personally find one far better for stir-frying and similar techniques.

    (I also got the amonia smell like someone else mentioned, but it went away quickly once the dish that was holding the sauce was washed.)

    Great. I am a Persian-American cook and I love Asian cooking, and this is one of my favorites, but I have not found a good one at restaurants in years. I'm going to have to make it myself. As a cook of many cultures, I already have all the ingredients except for the chili oil and the Chinese cooking wine. I will go to my local Asian grocery to find them. That chili garlic puree, I have and am very familiar with. I am happy to see I can now use it for something else. Thank you.

    This was a good first recipe for me to make in the wok that I just bought. It has a more grown-up flavor than the take out version, which (at least in the places around me) is just sweet. The flavor combination of the garlic and chili crunch makes all the difference in the sauce. I need to improve my technique as it took me a little too long to get together. Once or twice more and I'll be able to just knock this out. I'm so glad that I made this.

    I finally got around to trying this recipe, and I really loved it. I have made General Tso chicken often before, but your method is much better, and the result did not disappoint. My previous recipe's sauce used different ingredients, and I might try combining them somewhat to personalize it. I'm thinking of adding hoisin sauce, and experimenting with the batter for even more crispiness. I have to say this was some of the best General Tso chicken I have ever had, and I made your Wonton as an entrée, which is simply the best I have ever had. Thank you for sharing these wonderful recipes and cooking tricks, tips, and methods. It took me a fraction of the time it normally takes me , with better end results!

    Hello!!! I wanted to make this as soon as I finished watching the video earlier this week!!! I googled where to find an Asian market in Wilmington, NC and purchased my ingredients today and OMG!!! It was soooo good!!! The only thing I left out were the dried chilis because I thought it would be too spicy for me. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe. I have tried many variations of General Tso’s Chicken over the years. Sometimes it was terrible and other times it was just ok... I made this recipe tonight for the family and it was an absolute hit! I have finally found the ABSOLUTE BEST General Tso’s recipe!!! I think the “secret” ingredient for that authentic taste is the Sambal as none of my previous recipes had it. I omitted the chili oil and red chilies as the kids do not like very spicy food and it was absolutely perfect! Thank you so much Seonkyoung!!!!!!😃😃😃

  • @samanthab5752
    @samanthab5752 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just made this last night and my husband said it was better than any dish he's had in a restaurant. Thank you! It's a bit spicy for those who can't take the heat (we can and we loved it), but you could probably cut it down by reducing the amount of sambal and leaving out the dried chili. Chili oil is a MUST though. :D
