@@DonJoyce It went well! There was a stiff breeze that challenged its stability. The outcome made it look no different than someone walking behind us with a cell phone. I also brought it into my classroom and challenged it to move around 3 of my students while they stood in different positions. It passed! The best challenge was to have it follow me through the door and out into the hallway. Let's just say don't cut corners, but we figured it out by lining up the path before exiting. I can't wait to try this amongst some of the ancient ruins in the upcoming weeks!
Interesting video on a drone that seems perfectly suited to individuals who want to use aerial shots in Video blogs with minimal fuss - and free from the need to register the drone.
Exactly, Mike. It's not a replacement for a fully featured drone, but it is SO easy to carry and use, it's terrific for vlogging or social media shots!
Hover Air X1 has great features! It can be purchased overseas directly in Korea, and I was able to see the excellence of the Hover Air X1 while watching this video.
I often use the HoverAir for exactly that kind of thing...a walk and talk! This video demonstrates this. The key thing is to have your phone connected to the drone while in dolly mode (in front of you). Any audio recorded by your phone will be applied to the video through the app, which eliminates the prop noise (and a lot of other background noise as well!)!!! th-cam.com/video/ovkjQMG-3hM/w-d-xo.html
Yeah, it is so fun and useful. I took it on a hike recently (video coming out soon...) and used the new features, and the 'regular' ones too. It was like I had a camera man along with me!! (Amusing side note: I also intended to bring my Mini 4 Pro on the hike...and oops left it in the car!)
Cool video, well done ! I feel that this high pitched noise can be disturbing to people around you while it's tracking you. What's your experience with this? It's a pity because otherwise it would be the perfect low profile drone. Btw, does it lose you often when you walk fast within a long narrow forest trail ?
I haven't found the prop noise to be a big issue, but I don't usually fly it around bystanders. The following capability is quite good, even on trails. Oddly, the prop noise is a good confirmation that it's still with you!
Morning Don. I suspect flying drones over crown land is legal, but I'm having trouble finding a decent government map of crown land. I use the 'drone pilot' app as well. Any suggestions ?
Nice video! Have you used your wireless mic with just the phone and the hoverair? Can you put your phone in your pocket and walk around talking and get good quality? We have the hoverair and are considering getting wireless mics, but I haven't found a video yet showing that it works well. Thanks!
YES! I have used the wireless mic approach with the HoverAir! It works really well in fact. I sometimes do the opening parts of my vlog style videos this way. Here's an example from January: th-cam.com/video/yalJVIDnUHQ/w-d-xo.html
@@DonJoyce Thanks for your response! I watched the video you sent and the opening has great sound! Looks like I will probably be ordering those mics! 🤠
Well, like any piece of tech, you COULD always wait for the next version, but honestly, this drone is awesome as it is. For example, I used it a lot on a recent hike and it was so easy to get amazing footage: th-cam.com/video/WhYFUnQ7Cnc/w-d-xo.html
I just got mine today! It’s still charging. 🎉 we’re going to take it for a walk and see what happens. ❤
Cool! Have fun! (Or rather...how did it go?!)

Thanks for the info!
@@DonJoyce I also like the 'Hover Air X1', which has excellent features! And thank you for your reply.
Great video - thanks! Can't wait to try new smart controls, I'm having so much fun with this thing!
Have fun!
Greetings Don. Certainly a great little drone including the awesome gesture controls. Thank you.
Thanks Dave! It is cool, and I've already used the gesture controls and side follow on a hike!
So cool. Thanks for the video.
Glad you liked it!
Hi Don, looks like a fun drone, thanks for the video. 👍🇦🇺
It is definitely fun, and very useful for interesting clips when I'm doing vlog style videos.
Cool little drone Don. Thanks Brother!
Thanks, Doug! It is cool, and quite useful for certain kinds of vlog style shots!
Hey, Don.
To overcome the three second landing, you can go to settings and set it to land with hand gestures only.
It's how I have mine set.
Yes, I figured that out later...thanks!
That’s so cool. I wanted to use this for a Walk and Talk idea but that drone sound is very loud in the lav mic. I wonder if it could be fixed in post.

That’s perfect! I just saw it. Sounds so good! Thank you! 🙏
Great review! Thank you.👍
Thanks!! I love that little drone!
Awesome demo... TY!
My pleasure!
Great video, could you show me how to change the side of the sreen like from sideways or stand ways please
You do the selection of portrait or landscape from the app settings screen after connecting to your drone.
Wow!
Yes!
Great video, I really want this drone, thanks :)

Assuming you are meeting other airspace regulations, yes, you can fly over crown land. I'm not sure where you would find a decent map.
Hey Don just found this channel. How do i get it to fly in front of me and film me walking?
It's called Dolly track on the Custom mode. It works really well!
Yes! I found it as soon as i sent this of course😊 thanks for responding. Im loving this. Still figurin out the learning curve @DonJoyce

We'd follow you anywhere Don... lol.
Lol...just watch out for trees!
You're having too much fun. LOL
That's for sure! Thanks, Gerry!
Thanls much 😊
It's a shame that in smart mode it doesn’t automatically start with follow mode
Maybe they'll add that as an option one day.
@@DonJoyce I hope so 🙏 😔
I would wait for the next reiteration when they have minimum 4K60FPS + longer battery life.
