  • Join me, Craig, on an unforgettable solo journey to one of Switzerland's hidden gems - the Trift Bridge. Nestled between towering mountains and suspended over the serene Trift Lake, this adventure is a feast for the eyes and the soul. 🚠 Starting with a scenic ride up the Trift Bahn, the cable car that takes us high into the mountains, we embark on a thrilling 400-500 meter hike to the bridge itself. The path is filled with spectacular views that words can barely describe, but don't worry, my drone captures it all from the sky. 🌄
From the exhilarating heights of the suspension bridge to the breathtaking landscapes that surround it, this vlog is more than just a hike; it's a journey into the heart of Switzerland's natural beauty. The Trift-Galcier is a sad testimony to the changes of the alpine world in the last 50 years. In the 1980's the glacier reached to the bridge and there was no lake, but that was all glacier. Till the 1990's you could pass over the gorge on the glacier to the Trift-hut, but it was clear then that this crossing would be gone soon and the first trift-bridge was build in 2004 and then replaced by the current bridge in 2009. Imagine that what you see at 22'49'' was all filled with ice some 40 years ago. The views are spectacular still today, but for those who knew what it was like before, it is rather depressing.

That is crazy. I’ve just looked up some photos of this. It’s mad how much it has changed. Not sure if it’s true but just read that they’re planning a dam there and seen an illustration of it 🤦🏼‍♂️

@@DiscoverWithCraigIndeed there is a hydropower project at the Trift in discussion, but it is quite controversial and for the moment there is no agreement that it will be realized anytime soon. By the way very nice video Craig.
