  • The Melia Mai Khao Resort in Phuket, Thailand is a fresh and modern take on what a small 5-Star Resort could be. Regardless of the hotel though, it's hard to argue that Mai Khao Beach, where it is located is absolutely spectacular. It's still hard to process how vast and pristine the beach was. Join us on this 4K Resort Tour as we explore all of the hotel's facilities including the restaurants Sasa and Gaia as well as the pool bar and two Instagramable pools along with our one bedroom pool villa and of course, the stunning Mai Khao Beach. Check out our video to decide for yourself if the Melia Mai Khao is the best choice for your next vacation.

    Somehow I missed this review. Glad it popped up in my feed. Reminds me how much I like when you review your scores at the end instead of just flashing them on the screen. The beach looks AMAZING.

      I’m trying to come up with a solution for the score/menus/nightly rate feedback that I’ve been getting. I can tell you specifically for the scoring, the fact of the matter is many people do not watch the score in detail. One important metric that affects the algorithm is percent of total video viewed. Trimming 30 seconds from each video helped this metric for me, but I do understand from the viewer perspective as well. Will hopefully have a fix that satisfies both sides of the equation by mid September. Thanks as always Mark 🙏🏻

    Based on my experience with Melia in Bali lve never felt inclined to book at any of the Melia properties, at first glance l would not have noticed that the room lacked seating/relaxing space no wonder it gave the impression of spacious! Glad you point out these things, those baths outdoors are absolutely pointless and l often wonder why they bother going to the effort at all, wouldn't even bath my kid out there🤷‍♀️. Sunset beautifully captured once again. Thanks for the review👍

    Love the idea of staying at Mai Khao, pristine beach close to the airport. This particular Melia doesn’t look like my cup of tea though either.

    It's actually more a regular-sized room instead of a villa. I agree with you, the potential to fill the room with furniture is given. Still a very good hotel, much better than Banyan Tree XD. @Flip Flop: Always a pleasure to watch your videos, keep going with it 👍

    I want to call the designer and ask what they were thinking with the bathtub. They squeezed the interior square footage so much that the only place left for it was the pool terrace.

    Thanks, great review! I have booked the hotel for less than 200 USD/night for the 2023 high season in February. I think you should also take the category value for money into account. It is priced like a standard hotel room in the area. Yes there are bigger villas and private pools in Phuket, but not in this price range.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, all of my scores for all reviews are relative to the price paid. My scores take the value at Melia into account. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

    Hi, great channel! We’re looking to spend 6 nights at 2 locations in Thailand. Leaning 3 nights in Samui / Krabi / Phuket and 3 nights in Khao Lak. Keen to tour Phi Phi islands on 1 day trip, but flexible otherwise. What would be your hotel picks for both locations?

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If Khao Lak is for sure, I would definitely eliminate Samui. I assume for Khao Lak you’d be flying into either Krabi or Phuket so wherever you fly into would be my choice for the other three nights. Phuket has a lot more to do in terms of activities than Krabi does and considering you want to explore Phi Phi I’d consider The Naka Island resort in Phuket. It is on the ‘correct’ side of Phuket to easily explore the islands and Naka is very close to Ao Po Marina where you’ll probably be able to get a boat to Phi Phi. Krabi, I would love to visit on my next trip but I’m not too familiar with the properties there to be able to make a recommendation. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

    • @tfft

      At the time of my visit yes there was a small additional menu. Nothing too spectacular but the eggs Benedict I received were definitely better than anything in the buffet. Thanks for watching 😂

    Very bizarre disconnect between them having so much space for Power Lounges (I mean, really?), yet not bothering to put desks in rooms - so do they want people to do work there or not?

    The front desk agent was full of it, that is not Peranakan style, how gullible does he think we are? Anyway moving on.......

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pattern is actually Peranakan. Normally it would be in a wood carving or tile, not a steel facade- perhaps ‘inspired by Peranakan’ would be more appropriate. Just thought it was odd that Melia never mentioned it.
