Thanks! For sure keep my videos family friendly. I hear lotta folks just let my channel run non stop and love to get that feedback. But of course get out and stay active 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
I’ve been wakeboarding 30 years I’ve followed you guys for a long time. I just got a foil board and have been going too fast and breaking the surface. Tomorrow it’s going to be a lot slower. Wish me luck.😂
Hey Shaun, just wanted to say thank you very much for your content, you taught me to wakeboard at 41 I’m about 250lbs and the Murray 150 is my go to. I’ve been foiling now for a couple of years behind the boat, I ended up breaking the LF pod board and was recommended the Armstrong WKT, it’s super stiff and very low volume and surprisingly really advanced my foiling because you are so connected to the foil, if you get a chance, try one.
"alls hes askin you to do, is hit a stupid button". Lol. Rusty cracks me up. Another great video with actual helpful information and interesting to watch, great people as well. Hit the stupid button!! Lol
Picked up a foil last winter, cant wait for the summer and get the boat in the water and try it out! This video May make a big difference trying it out for the first time! That foot placement seems critical for (hopefully some) succes 🙂 thumbs up!
Makes me happy to see these 2 legends still goin good n strong! I’m that goofy kid wit the go pro who “interviewed” rusty in Dallas Texas but I doubt he would remember but it was a great time and I was just a little kid!
I think you may have saved foiling for me Shaun. I bought a high-end foiling "kit" setup 2 years ago, nobody could get up on it behind my boat, after watching your videos recently, its clearly because the board is way too bouyant, while also being too small to stand on to start. I just bought a Hyperlite Shuttle yesterday, and with your instruction videos, I think we've got this now.
Love to hear it! Make sure to have the boat start super slow while feeling where the push of the wing is under you. Check this out if you haven’t th-cam.com/video/lLYYCxILz5A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2TZ31YyHH-rs7oqK
Great to hear because it was my mission for rusty to try it and knew he’d love it. Which he did and does! Electric one is a great start bc it helps understand flight but the movement is slower on the E foil and doesn’t generate the same kind of quick lift you’ll find behind the boat. But it’s a great start for sure!
Going from eFoil to wakefoil was a fun experience with a quick transition for me. The people who took me behind their boat were astonished at how quickly I picked it up. But I had to credit their analogy before my ride, that it would be going from a heavy pickup truck (efoil) to a Ferrari (wake foil) I even did a little switch stance riding the first day. Always gota push that ride switch challenge! eFoil is a great intro to foiling in general and I think its the easiest way to learn. You're captain and rider and can progress from kneeling to standing. Even physically challenged people can kneel or sit and fly... But wakefoiling has one unique advantage of being able to cut down the 3-dimensionality to a more simple and manageable 2-dimensions because of how the rider can leverage the heelside edge and use it like a wall or crutch to lean on. They can then isolate the new santion of balance up and down the mast. Then bring in the 3 dimensions with toeside and then find the power.
This is all really good info. Great analogy and also great point regarding the handle giving you another point of balance. Flying away from the direction of the pull is one of the top 3 points I give people when learning bc it makes such a difference! 1. Driver needs to go really slowly on the start initially. 2. Longer rope really makes a difference. 3. Point the board/wing almost 90 degrees away from the direction of the pull. That's where the handle can give you a point of balance, and some extra speed to gain lift when the boat is going only a fast idle. Thanks for the great comment eFoilLakePowell!
Hey Shawn been trying this for the past few weekends, I have the foil as far back as it will go but im still finding I have to have a huge amount of weight on my back foot to stop it from diving. Any suggestions to remedy this?
Can I ask? How much does Rusty weigh? What was the setup you gave him. Compared to yours? My friends have a foil. I’m looking to get one. I’ve got control. But just riding for less than a minute. Without the rope. He has a g23 and I’ve got a first gen. sport nautique. Thanks for all your videos too! I owe it all to you! I’ve been watching since before I got my first board.
I suggest using a helmet always. This things are dangerous. I have a Slinghot board but it's too buoyant for that kind of start., We stick to wakesurf style start

Incredible progression! It took me 3 sessions before I was even able to stand up!

😂 but did you?! 😂
I did hit that stupid button. 😁

Great to see how quickly Rusty progressed. I love my foil, especially on choppy days.
Such a great feeling when the wing is flying so smoothly under all the waves 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
Do you have a video of going from riding with rope to staying in the wave without rope?

Love it! When was the interview with Rusty?
Just bought a H/L Shuttle last week. Looking forward to learning this summer. Thanks for creating the foil series… wouldn’t have bought it without!
Love to hear you're gonna start foiling this season 🤙
I feel you Rusty. My buddies are requiring me to e-foil this season. Do have to say, you too, made it look easy.
Rusty’s fave activity is E foiling but I’m getting him to switch over
Happy Birthday Shaun!
Thanks Tom 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
Shaun’s at it again!! 👍👍
Yeah you did Clark 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
Happy birthday Shaun!!! 🎂🎉
Great video!! lets go!!!
Thanks Nick 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
Love the video! A tutorial on how to drive someone doing a foul would be great. Also on how to choose a foul board to get started. Thanks Shaun!
Good input Ty ✌️

Foot placement sounds like it could move. Are you standing in front of, on top, or behind the mast w your back foot?
Yes!!!!
Yeah Chase 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼 thanks for stoppin by

Using a helmet can be a good idea. Most people end up realizing it's not as dangerous as it seems initially but a helmet, not a bad idea.
Thanks for this vid and we are about to start foiling as well…appreciate the guidance and real world view from you guys!
And Happy Birthday Shaun🎉

Good one guys! Rusty was so stoked!
@shaun.murray What are vests you both wearing during the first day?
Thanks!
I always wear my Jet Pilot Murray vest. CGA. Not sure what brand that is that Rusty has though? He put a custom patch on it to make it his own
