I just got a single cab ram gas 2500 and I work off a 18x6.4 utility trailer. Been thinking about getting an enclosed but you opened my eyes to the heat thing, never thought about that.
Hey, that’s great that a smaller rig is working for you, I run a pretty small rig, I use a 6 by 12 trailer which is big enough for my Stander and Grandstand. But I run a Chevy 1500 and it doesn’t seem to quite have enough power, I don’t know if it is the engine or the 4 speed transmission or what. Maybe it’s just old because it has 350k miles, and it gets like 10 miles per gallon, but it works. Anyway I enjoyed the video.
Great video Mack. You are learning that you don't need to haul around everything at once. Only take what you need for the day. This has saved us alot over the years and has cut cost. It is wild how you learn these small things over time. Great Job keep grinding and see you on the next video.
We met last year at the morning show I believe. Mitch, from Dayton Ohio with Birds lawn care. We will look for you this year and hope to get out to your meet up.
Looking forward to it buddy …See you at Equip my friend …There’s a link to register for the meetup on my community page or my Instagram Mack_landscaping412
We use Toro and Echo equipment. And it performs very well for us. Looks like you have a solid game plan. Keep it simple but effective. Sometimes we all have to do more with less. I like the open air trailers. They work best for us. We are mainly on rural roads and in small towns.
We had similar issues with our handheld equipment in our enclosed trailer setup. We switched over to ethanol free, canned gas and haven’t had a problem since. Not to mention zero shop bills for fuel related issues. Been using this current setup for 2 years and still no issues. Mowing about 25-30 accounts per day.
When I store my equipment in an enclosed trailer, I loosing the gas cap some. Even gas cans do this. Also I have two vents in mine as well. If you don't let them vent sooner or later the fuel lines could become damaged or internal parts to the carb will become damaged.
When I was racing motocross we had a powered vent on the rear and a front manual vent. It was amazing but it was on a 24ft trailer. I'm still debating on getting an enclosed for my lawn care. My 12ft open is okay but I need trailer brakes at least. Also barely can fit my mowers in my shed
Storage was the original reason for me getting my enclosed trailer in 2020. My garage was overflowing with equipment so I got an enclosed 1st and then eventually moved to a storage unit and then into the Compound
What brand two cycle equipment are you using that vapor locks? I've run an enclosed trailer for years, including in Tampa Florida for numerous years. I never had an issue with vapor lock running muruyama, shindawai, and echo. The only people i ran into that had vapor lock issues were running Stihl Nice new trailer
@@mack_landscaping412 that's crazy. I have a ten year old echo backpack blower that starts on the second pull every time that sits in my trailer year round. I think the problem is the type of side vents your trailer has. They're inefficient. I'm glad you're liking the new set up
@@Hillsidelanscapemanagement That could be the case…it’s not a top of the line enclosed trailer so there’s probably a lot other things I could do to add better ventilation…There’s no issues now with the open setup
I'm currently running a 5×8 for my ikon 52, would like to upgrade to 7×14. Do u think I could fit 2 zero turns and a walk behind on it? Want to start running a two man crew in the spring.
I’m not sure buddy…it would probably depend on the size of the walk behind…if we’re talking about a 21” or a 30” push mower then yes that should fit…but if you mean like a 36” w/ hydros then maybe not … i’d say get all the specs on your machine and then measure it out …hope that helps 🫡
I have both and I have a solar powered exhaust fan I mentioned that in the video…there’s pros and cons to both but less is more for me right now and the utility has been a great change for me 💯 Thanks for the comment buddy 💯🫡
This is my main setup without tje racks. I have a 8 by 16 trailer because in my area requires clipping picked up. So by tje end of day i might have 3-4 huge bags of grass. I use one rider and a toro 30 inch. I like the paint and i think ill do that. Boy those hitch locks are expensive. I have a diffetent one but i do like those. Any discounts on those mac?
I still gotta finish installing the rest of the rack but they really save time and hassle 💯 …They’re expensive but you only gotta buy it once and then you got it for life …I have 1 on each trailer now…I do not have a any discount codes yet but if/when I do I’ll put them on my linktree on Instagram 💯
Hey man let me know when you go to equip expo and let me know when you get a chance can you do a video on the new echo pb 9050 backpack blower that is coming out during the fall of this year
Simplicity 🔑 … so what are you doing with the debris now? I remember on a podcast with Keith you mentioned that you would mow, edge & blow as well as trim trees/hedges as needed as part of your service. I’m hopefully staring soon and debating whether to go enclosed or utility. Theft & rain is a HUGE issue in south Florida.
Once spring cleanups are done, It’s just a matter of touching up things so there’s no debris really during the mowing route we just mulch up the clippings …branches or anything like that if there’s no tree-line ill just throw it the truck bed
What happens when you have to trim? No room to haul away the junk on the trailer. Must be nice to sit down all day cutting grass. I have bi-weekly with148 accounts 21 inch push mower. Tiny yards 500 sq ft. Basically 4 car garage size. Arthritis city.
We mulch shrub trimmings most of the time and we don’t sit down and mow. I use stand on mowers. 148 accounts is AMAZING buddy🔥 & with a push mower 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Let the truck run all day???? That was his advice rather than swap out the starter, or check connections? 🥴 My 14 Ram needs a new engine, and I miss her 🙄🤯 Congrats on the new rig. Nice paint job. Interesting you went with a half ton; she pulls well? Yes, running a pickup rig is so much better than a dumptruck setup 😂 Just keep it all locked up, and tarped up if it rains or if you leave it outside.
He suggested getting the starter looked at and other things too…He only suggested leaving it running while we worked so we didn’t lose the day …he was trying to help but I’m happy it happened when it did cuz I found the perfect truck 💯

The heat and smell trapped inside an enclosed trailer never sounds fun. Couldn’t do an enclosed in tx.
100% half ton trucks are best for weekly lawn mowing, best fuel economy and strong enough to handle a few mowers , you will not go back to dump truck
The dump truck served it’s purpose but definitely not going back to it for daily mowing 🙅🏽♂️
