The most depressing moment so far in the expansion for me (I've just finished this bit) A being with remnants of their past, their shattered mind, pieces clinging desperately to the physical form that was stolen from them and reshaped by the light. The mindful mindlessness of a child's soul in a light driven husk, imprisoned for 100 years in the absolute madness of such an existence, amplified by solitude. May their soul rest easy with their defeat, may they finally find peace and friendship once more
I love how cheery this song is juxtapose how f’d up it is when you realized that fairies are just little kids and that the light warden either made this one basically crazy. This song is literally a little kid driven insane
Not really. That's like saying trees are acorns. Faeries come from kids, but they become something else. I wouldn't say our faerie helper is a child, for example.
In tradition of half year in between replies; our faerie companion seemed to have a more maternal nature to them than anything. So I'm not sure I'm on board with the kids thing
Shakespeare may not have invented Titania but it's still very appropriate that it still alludes to Midsommer with both direct allusions like the title and just the fact that the main chorus line at full speed forms pentameters.
I loooove the part where the music gets all muddled at 1:43. It really makes it feel like the song's drowning you and you're succumbing to the sinister fairy magic.
I think the contrast between how playful this song is and how sinister its deeper meaning is makes it really the most fitting song possible for a fight with the ruler of the fae.
Greatest tragedy of the light wardens coming, the fall of titania to the Light. The hint of sadness and remorse hidden in the later verses of the lyrics, may she find rest in the end.
The line “will you, when I’m gone, remember me?” Is a great line that showcases this. Fairies are immortal, so she knows why you’re there. She can also teleport; all fairies can. She _does_ during the fight. This is assisted suicide. The fact she retained this much lucidity at all shows how good of a ruler she was. Then again, I’ve never done the beast tribe quest. Still, all things considered I’ve been given no room for doubt
Something about this is both sad and...very sinister. Like some kind of infection is spreading across your skin, but you're trying to pretend it isn't happening.
Both the lyrics and the melody hide the tragic meaning of this song. It's almost ironic how the entire fight is made silly with it, even though this is pretty much the purging of a tormented soul.
Titania is tragic amongst the lightwardens as she fought for her people and fell for it a loved ruler sealed away as nobody could help her and it fell to us to free her,
Maybe thats why the tone is lighthearted, almost jolly. Maybe a part of Titania is still there, trapped within the madness, happy someone strong enough arrived to put her out of her misery and free her from her torment at last
If you told me when Shadowbringers launched that one of the leading causes of death for me this expansion would be FA LA LA LA and a tangle of vines, I wouldn't have believed you. And yet, here we are.
I went in a farming run with this one as a healer. Only did two pulls after that the other healer left he had a mentor icon. First pull failed it was chaos and he took my spot for the soaks so i need to run all the way to the other side and we wiped. 2nd pull i think i died from the vines since im at west for the first time and lots of people got the terror/fear debuff so we wipped. Funny thing is that he as the mentor was taking the easiest part of the healer and making mistakes every now and then too has the audacity to say "i thought this was a farming run" 🤣.
The song : coffee cafe The fight itself : AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
The reveal of this Light Warden was so creepy. Shadowbringers really put it front and center for some moments that were like "Yeah, that happened" or "Yeah, you're fighting *that*"
may I ask what's the difference between looking for Alisaie first before Alphinaud (I did go look for Alisaie first so yeah ._.) maybe a few dialogues?
@@nooneshouldknowme206 probably he means the way of the wardens are presented. In Alphinaud route we see them controlled and peacefully chilling and this is first impression of them. My grandpa once told me a story about a rich noble who met a strange girl dancing by the side of the road. The girl told the noble that she was a faerie, but the noble merely scoffed at her and challenged her to prove that she was telling the truth. The girl answered the noble that she would prove her words true by granting the noble a single wish. With scornful haughtiness the noble replied that he already had everything he could ever wish for and, at this point, all he could wish for is for the girl to prove that she really was a faerie as she said. Upon hearing his words the strange girl smiled at him, curtsied and disappeared out into the woods... The story is a bit too long to include in its entirety, but at the end of it the noble had lost his fortune, his mansion had burned down, his friends had turned their backs on him, his children had drowned in the brook, his wife had died soon thereafter of a broken heart and he, himself, had gone blind, become a cripple and was dying from a disfiguring pox. When he finally sought out a priest to at least receive his last rites before he passed on, the priest wistfully told the noble that he would be unable to ever enter God's kingdom up in heaven as he had already entered an agreement with a heathen spirit of the court neath the hills... Thus the noble's wish came true: All he had wished for was to know if the strange girl really was a faerie, and the knowledge that she had indeed been a faerie was all he was left with. Moral: Don't take the things you have for granted. Never stop appreciating the things you do have. After all, everything you have now were once things that you merely wished that you had. Never stop wishing that you get to keep the things you already have and appreciate... Also, never, ever act smug with a faerie. They'll fuck your shit up.
@@Konpekikaminari To be fair, "don't mess with faeries" was the moral of, like, half of my grandpa's stories. Sometimes his stories didn't even have any additional morals aside from that one.
@@robyntact9251 Unto my knowledge, Scandinavian faeries haven't ever displayed any form of weakness to cold iron... So, best case scenario, the faeries would just be amused by an attempt to ward them off using a horseshoe... Actually, come to think of it, horseshoes _could_ be used to ward off faeries, but only if you hung the horseshoes over a door-frame, like so: ℧ ...if you did that, then the horseshoe would act like a cup that would fill up with good fortune, and since many faeries were regarded as harbingers of misfortune, the "contents" of the horseshoe would subsequently prevent the faeries from entering one's house without first being invited. Some stories in which the faeries were invited anyway had the basic moral of "Don't invite misfortune into your home/life." Incidentally, in some of the other stories in which the faeries were invited, the faeries themselves first asked permission to be allowed into the house -- it was generally considered very rude to turn someone away at your door if they asked to be allowed in -- and in those stories the moral tended to be more about the sacredness of hospitality: Even if your guests may be quirky and a bit unruly, even if your guests may look weird or even scary, even if your guests have strange and curious customs, you are still their host and they are still your guests -- once you've invited guests into your house, you've got a certain responsibility as their host to be courteous, patient and polite. And the humans who did treat their faerie guests well could, for the most part, be sure that the faeries would leave them a precious gift as a token of their gratitude once they took their leave. There was a couple of stories though in which the humans _weren't_ good hosts to the visiting faerie. In one of them, the faerie retaliated by inviting the entire human family to his realm for a day so that he could show them how a proper host should treat their guests: They would be dressed in gowns of shimmering silver, they would be covered in precious jewellery, they would be treated to the finest food and drinks that his kingdom could give them, he would personally provide all entertainment during their stay, and once night fell they would get to sleep in the softest beds that can be found upon this Earth, and if they found him to be a good host then he may even consider extending their stay in his realm for a bit... The family thought that this all sounded good and accepted his invitation, figuring that they would at least get to live like kings for a day at his expense... Then comes the twist: This faerie just so happened to be The Fiddler, a.k.a. The Nix, a.k.a. The River Man, and he dressed the family in gowns of living fishes, covered them with beautiful rocks, let them eat the finest seaweed and drink the finest drinks that his waters could provide, he played for them the most bewitching songs he knew, and once night fell they all slept soundly upon the riverbed's soft mud... My grandfather concluded that story by surmising that The Fiddler must've been an absolutely amazing host, seeing as that family still haven't come back up from the bottom of the river, even though a hundred years have passed since the day they left to spend a night as guests in the realm of The River Man...
@@GrahamChapman And then you have faeries like the Leanan Sidhe which is an extremely tragic fairy. They are, in a sense, a type of vampire (albeit an unwilling one). They grant artists and craftsmen a blessing of skill and inspiration in return for their life-force, thus shortening the individual's lifespan significantly (often dooming them to an early death). The tragedy comes in that a Leanan Sidhe very often would genuinely fall in love with the recipient of their "blessing", but very few humans could even see, hear, or otherwise interact with a Leanan Sidhe, so the Leanan Sidhe would effectively be cursed to watch the object of their affections slowly wither away and die without ever being able to truly interact with them....and knowing that once they died they would never see them again since Leanan Sidhe were immortal. A good example of a Leanan Sidhe would be Redcurrant from The Ancient Magus' Bride anime. She is by far one of the most tragic characters in the anime, and she is one of the sweetest and friendliest characters as well, as shown by her interactions with Chisa (one of the few humans who can actually see and hear her), Redcurrant shows a playfully mischievous but still very friendly demeanor towards Chisa.
It's crazy to me how often this track just pops into my head. It's so fuckin catchy once you get over the manic pace of the lyrics stacked on that mellow drum line
I hate how catchy this is. I rediscover it every few months, and then have it on loop for a week or two then burn my self out on it. Then restart the cycle lmfao
I first heard this song multiple times in houses and on the background of streamers in their FC houses and at the time I thought that even though I loved final fantasy and the music I thought this song was too weird and beyond my limits...but then I really heard it and this shit has enchanted my soul. I can't get it out of my head and cant help but hum to it through the day. How the fuck did I not like this masterpiece?
Either someone in your party has the exact same glam and character as me or that’s me….tf I’ve been listening to this video for the past 2 years and only just watched it for the first time and I’m like ayo wait that’s me
So I just got to Shadowbringers recently and I have to say, I was not expecting this boss fight to be so beautiful. It’s like fighting a fairy tale and the music is so wonderful! I especially love the part at 2:15. I’m so glad I finally decided to start playing FF14. It’s been an amazing experience!
So this song is actually helping me with a medical problem lol. I have FND and one of the things that allows me to walk is distracting myself with music. This song makes me want to dance! And now I know all the lyrics I don't even have to listen to it for it to work. This is the video I used to learn the lyrics lol
I've never played this game before, but for being such a light-hearted sounding tune it makes me very sad. I feel like I know who the character is just from listening.
"OH GODS! THERE IS HAPPY MUSIC PLAYING BUT I JUST LOST MY LIVER!" *cue pan down to the tank that died like a bitch on the first phase, looking up at the DPS* "Accurate. Any other nuggets of wisdom you wish to share with the raid?" "MY SPLEEEEEEEEEEEEN!" "Wonderful."
What blows me away is how Paula was able to keep up with the pace of the song. I don't know if it was recorded in segments but I figure not, so I don't know where she found the time to catch her breath!
I can sing along the parts that I know the lyrics to. It is kinda hard but it doesn't leave my throat sore like a Mariah Carey song. It's more that it makes my jaw hurt from all the repetitive opening and closing of the mouth
Are we sure "Bows to the blade" isn't "Boughs to the glade"? I'll believe it either way, I just thought that it was that line is all. Fantastic work though.
The constant wipe still haunt me, and every time i do the duty roulette, i pray to not fall on this one. Because to this day, i still see wipes despite the explanations..
To the conversations about fae folk in general, I forget where I heard it but a ward made of iron wrought with the aid of the dead proved the most sure to give yourself and your kin a wide berth. Wight(‘s) iron if I am correct to call it, though in a practical sense, that may be very much ‘magical steel’
The human brain wants to complete things, like songs. If a song is stuck in your head singing or hearing it to completion often gets it out. This however... is a perfect loop so that trick doesn't work and it stays stuck in your mind longer.
My wife just showed me this song, and I can't help but notice a few similarities to the Mortvia Aqueduct music from Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. There are some parts here that evoke that song to me.
I'll occasionally rediscover this song, and just listen to it on loop for hours on end. It's waayy too addicting, I swear! I got my little sister to like it, too :3
Since going through titania during my first play, this song is one of my favourites in the entire game so far... shadow allowed to be quirky with the locations and characters... could gridania have anything like this?
does anyone know what this genre is called? this is the closest song I've ever found to the style that mili does and I'm wondering if there's actually a name for it
I'm honestly ashamed to admit that I still have yet to clear the extreme. Every group I join will get to the second phase, and then we die. I'm just a lowly monk, I don't know why I'm suddenly getting auto attacked.😭

The mindful mindlessness of a child's soul in a light driven husk, imprisoned for 100 years in the absolute madness of such an existence, amplified by solitude. May their soul rest easy with their defeat, may they finally find peace and friendship once more
If you haven't already, do the Pixie beast tribe quests. You'll get more background on Titania.
So glad I did the Fae tribe quests before the gravity of this hit me as it's super depressing.
I always found it amusing how playful the music was here, despite how serious the fight was supposed too be.
Because for Titania, the fight is her playing.
Reminder that for the Fae, turning people into shrubs is entertainment
@@screwed8182 It's also quite literally canon that Titania EX is just us fighting with her for the hell of it.
It is as playful as it should be as the Fae doesn't "fight". They only play with their opponent.
Trickery and Amusement is part & parcel for any Fey lore, especially with Titania, the Queen of the Summer Court.
@@screwed8182 kkkkk mmk jmm
I have nothing but respect for anyone who can sing that chorus without their lungs tapping out by "catch a falling star".
Well its lore and fact that the fae are just reborn souls of dead children.@@DA-uo5hz
If you haven't I'd recommend you do the fairy beast tribe quests, they expand on Titania's story ^^
I heard Titania was an actually good ruler before she got corrupted by the Light.
@@dragonspirit996 I'm doing that now and it's a good story but sad
The line “will you, when I’m gone, remember me?” Is a great line that showcases this. Fairies are immortal, so she knows why you’re there. She can also teleport; all fairies can. She _does_ during the fight.
This is assisted suicide. The fact she retained this much lucidity at all shows how good of a ruler she was.
Then again, I’ve never done the beast tribe quest. Still, all things considered I’ve been given no room for doubt
@@obviouslykaleb7998 beast tribe is pretty damn depressing but it's worth it.
Something about this is both sad and...very sinister. Like some kind of infection is spreading across your skin, but you're trying to pretend it isn't happening.
That's the Fae. NEVER TRUST THEM
Both the lyrics and the melody hide the tragic meaning of this song. It's almost ironic how the entire fight is made silly with it, even though this is pretty much the purging of a tormented soul.
“Will you, when I’m gone, remember me?” Hit me a bit hard in the feels 🥲
Titania is tragic amongst the lightwardens as she fought for her people and fell for it a loved ruler sealed away as nobody could help her and it fell to us to free her,
"Catch a falling star
Lock it in our hearts, eternally."
Tragic. The star was the light she locked away.
Maybe thats why the tone is lighthearted, almost jolly. Maybe a part of Titania is still there, trapped within the madness, happy someone strong enough arrived to put her out of her misery and free her from her torment at last
such a cutesy song that inflicts so much rage in people, gj mate
The song : coffee cafe
The fight itself : AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The reveal of this Light Warden was so creepy. Shadowbringers really put it front and center for some moments that were like "Yeah, that happened" or "Yeah, you're fighting *that*"
Tesleen is certainly another one, especially when you go looking for Alisaie before Alphinaud
may I ask what's the difference between looking for Alisaie first before Alphinaud (I did go look for Alisaie first so yeah ._.)
maybe a few dialogues?
@@nooneshouldknowme206 probably he means the way of the wardens are presented. In Alphinaud route we see them controlled and peacefully chilling and this is first impression of them.
If we go for Alisaie first we see them as cruel all killing monsters which they are. The transformation is creepy, the last thoughts of her is being "I'm sorry Alisaie" which shows how her personality wiping away.
Same singer is back as Honey B. Lovely. She’s fantastic!
All I can think of in this fight is the line "Bigger is Better!" and the maturity meter goes out the window.

"Im sick of this craphole castle!"

BIGGER IS BITTEHHH
The bass line fuckin' slaps. This whole song is a certified bop.
Really upbeat, addicting melody, also gave me nightmares because I played the quest leading up to this at 3 am in the morning and nearly tossed my controller at the cutscene.
This sounds like the type of song one would bust down a sick ballet or waltz to
The song becomes much more grim when you remember the pixies are the souls of children ._.
Nooot exactly. Like the Fuath who are born of the idea that they are spirits of the drowned, Pixies are the very same, but as the idea that they are spirits of dead children. They're not really spirits of the drowned or dead children, but simply embody the idea, and act accordingly.
@@simj202 isn’t fae mythology a lot of that? Beings born from the idea of certain things/scenarios? Like uhhh, what other examples are there
Dead children or not, they all not live happily for as long as they wish to and do fun tricks and pranks every single day. I’m sure they don’t mind how they were manifested.
@@simj202 No, it's literally from the souls of dead children. The Fuath makes more of themselves by drowning people they have interest in, remember?
@@screwed8182 Thancred or Urianger point out that it doesn't work that way, but the Fuath do so anyway because it's part of their being to try and 'procreate', so to speak, by drowning people.

An octopus's garden in the shade
Me pregunto cuándo estaremos
¿No me amas?
sigue estos
Pétalos lanzados en lo alto
La la la la la
¿Me recordarás cuando me haya ido?
Ring a ling a ling
Amantes en la primavera
como canta el jardin
siempre verde
Espíritus exuberantes, traemos
Ring a ling a ling
Desafiando cualquier cosa
Juntos nosotros
La la la la la
Aprende a hacer nuestra parte
Navegar por la oscuridad
Arriba alcanzamos
Atrapa una estrella fugaz
La la la la la
Guárdalo en nuestros corazones eternamente
Ring a ling a ling
Volando sin alas
Cometas sin cuerda
Bucle y salto
A estas coronas nos aferramos
Ring a ling a ling
One of the most fun extremes with a great song
They'll fuck your shit up.
such a classic tale
"[valuable life lesson], also don't mess with faeries"
@@Konpekikaminari To be fair, "don't mess with faeries" was the moral of, like, half of my grandpa's stories. Sometimes his stories didn't even have any additional morals aside from that one.
I feel like the real moral here is to carry some cold iron with you at all times.
Some stories in which the faeries were invited anyway had the basic moral of "Don't invite misfortune into your home/life."
Incidentally, in some of the other stories in which the faeries were invited, the faeries themselves first asked permission to be allowed into the house -- it was generally considered very rude to turn someone away at your door if they asked to be allowed in -- and in those stories the moral tended to be more about the sacredness of hospitality: Even if your guests may be quirky and a bit unruly, even if your guests may look weird or even scary, even if your guests have strange and curious customs, you are still their host and they are still your guests -- once you've invited guests into your house, you've got a certain responsibility as their host to be courteous, patient and polite.
This is exactly how the fae are in myth.

Heard this in Theatrhythm... was not expecting it to be boss battle music... sounds like if FF had an anime intro.
For the night is bright,
And you can sleep when you're dead!
What blows me away is how Paula was able to keep up with the pace of the song. I don't know if it was recorded in segments but I figure not, so I don't know where she found the time to catch her breath!
Most likely during the La la la la parts, its not too hard to get some breaths in with such a small sound
Maybe she does rapping on the side.
I can sing along the parts that I know the lyrics to. It is kinda hard but it doesn't leave my throat sore like a Mariah Carey song. It's more that it makes my jaw hurt from all the repetitive opening and closing of the mouth
The perfect song to soothe your rage as you wipe for the fourth time LMAOO
The song that lives in my head, rent-free, when I (somehow) fail a titania clear from trial roulette.
When hearing this OST the first time i imagined myself sitting in a beautiful, fairylike garden with some tea and cake XD
One of the few fights that actually got to fail several times, LOVE IT
This song is really one of those things that makes this game an experience all of it's own.
Nice of the devs to have our 2nd Lightwarden fight be against the second strongest Lightwarden
On my first attempt my group started chanting "WET WET WET"
Made for a unique experience.
Are we sure "Bows to the blade" isn't "Boughs to the glade"? I'll believe it either way, I just thought that it was that line is all. Fantastic work though.
I'm guessing boughs as plural noun: boughs
a main branch of a tree.
"apple boughs laden with blossom".
I think bows to the blade because she finally meets death in the Warrior of Darkness's blade
Thank you. Now that i know the lyrics, i like it much, much more.
the music in this game is genuinely gorgeous and honestly does any other game even top it?
I see the salt but I loved this song when I heard it first time xD as wild as that raid is (yes we wiped a few times 🤣)

I honestly thought this wasn't a boss battle first time I heard it. It might also be because I was listening to it without context.
Let me just say what a confusing ass beating this bop of a song was
To the conversations about fae folk in general, I forget where I heard it but a ward made of iron wrought with the aid of the dead proved the most sure to give yourself and your kin a wide berth. Wight(‘s) iron if I am correct to call it, though in a practical sense, that may be very much ‘magical steel’
Her face i fucking can't lmao
Water Water, Froth and Foam!
Honestly this song is lowkey hypnosis cause WHY AM I SINGING?!
The human brain wants to complete things, like songs. If a song is stuck in your head singing or hearing it to completion often gets it out. This however... is a perfect loop so that trick doesn't work and it stays stuck in your mind longer.
Because the night is bright and you can sleep when you're dead
This definitely gives me vibes of a old folk song called wild fairy dance
My wife just showed me this song, and I can't help but notice a few similarities to the Mortvia Aqueduct music from Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. There are some parts here that evoke that song to me.
Damn this gives me real Ape Escape 2 - Escape the Ape That's in You! (There's No Escape) vibes
The ULTIMATE “get stuck in your head” song!
Wooooo! we back!
I'll occasionally rediscover this song, and just listen to it on loop for hours on end. It's waayy too addicting, I swear! I got my little sister to like it, too :3
Both my favorite MSQ trial and extreme trial!
I read somewhere that the singer is Paula Kaye Gerhold, the same singer as Lakshmi's theme. Is it true?
Yes!
... wow without the lyrics i never would guess most of the lyrics.
