- Hundreds of thousands of people across the Houston, Texas area are still without power after last week’s deadly storms and flooding.
CenterPoint says at the peak of outages caused by the severe weather on Thursday, nearly 922,000 customers were without electricity.
Restoration efforts are still ongoing for the remaining customers, and CenterPoint says they are on track to be "substantially complete" with the restorations by Wednesday.
The city was hit by a severe derecho storm with high winds over 100mph and devastating rains and flooding.

A portable folding solar panel can directly power 3 speed USB fans and charge power bricks/phones and all types of batteries. Get a 100w one. They can run one of the fans no matter how cloudy it is. But nobody will tell the public. Get a 3-pack of long USB extension cables.

I am in Houston about 10 minutes from downtown. We were so fortunate as we didn't lose power at all! The sky got black, the wind was howling, and those tornado alerts were blaring on my phone! I am so grateful our power didn't go out, but I pray for the ones that are still without power!!. We did lose power and water for 4 days in that terrible winter storm of 2021. It was 21 degrees INSIDE! Will never forget that! Although this storm Saturday wasn't ERCOTS fault they REALLY need to fix Texas' grid. They've known since 2011 it was insufficient and old and can't handle these kinds of storms or heat waves! Praying everyone's power is restored ASAP!!

My daughter and granddaughter lives in Houston tx i live in California i wish I was there to help my daughter the last I heard from my daughter she said they didn't have any power she also said it was really hot I'm worried because her baby is only 1 years old my daughter doesn't drive she doesn't know anyone out there I have called to see If someone can check on them or help with food and I couldn't get through anyone

Without air-conditioning you die, u less you are very thin and super tough and healthy. Even if that was the case this place is still hell without airconditioning and living here makes you unhealthy, given time. Prayers for everyone who is in the path of this tragedy, and all the people who are helping, Huston your in my prayers, I think I still have 3 firsts cousins and maybe their families in that area some where , I did meet one of the cousins about 40 years ago , before she ever married , but I don’t know who she married , her dad was my dad’s brother and he moved from Huston to mount pleasant Texas in 19 77 and he’s passed away several years ago , I believe the cousins name was Mickie Ritchie , and a younger sister named Mary Ann I think never met her and a brother I never met , so I don’t know if anyone of them were in Huston when this storm came through or if they are still living , the dads name and my uncle was Earvin Charles Ritchie,

It's not just that, we have two generators....you must have one of the big generac type whole home generators so that you flip a switch and you have enough power to run air-conditioning and freezers. We had a swamp cooler fan, I still nearly had a heart attack today. because they lie about this index crap...it was over 100 period. I saw you need your own wind and solar too. You need thousands of dollars of preps to live here comfortably. This crap happens every year and I am ready to give up on living here.
