- Without doubt one of the true unicorn cars from the 90s.
The XJR15 evolved from the Le Mans winning XJR9 and this is one of the original race cars which has been converted to road use. Very little video is online about these cars so enjoy this unique insight into this unsung hero!

This car is one of the few cars in the world that looks right and amazing in all angles. The design is just fantastic. Today in Nov. 2018, it still look so new.

I can see a lot of Zonda in the design, with the very forward cabin.

Actually Horacio designed the Zonda inspired by Group C cars hence that shape with forward cabin and straight side lines
Pagani built the Zonda to look like a Group C car while this XJR-15 IS a Group C car. Today the Pagani is twice the price. A better road car, yes. A better car, iMO no. Rarity? 1:50 so half the production of Zonda easily. With that said I’d have a Zonda F in a heartbeat and an XJR-15 is a millisecond.
Ugh, Jaguar V12's sound soo good. There's something about it. It sounds almost raw like a big Merlin or something but despite only revving to only like 6,300, it also has a high rpm wail.

I saw TWO ( blue and yellow) of these at a car museum here in Australia, and they even let me sit in one! The door is so light, I couldn't believe it.

The silhouette of the 720S bears a lot of similarity to the XJR-15 in my opinion. The proportions are uncanny

Stevens was at Lotus before he designed the XJR-15.
He later designed the Mclaren F1. He has a connection to the man who designed the Lola Mk6 which is the father to both of those car. A car from another world

Travis Walker I hear you, I wanted to add information prior to his Lotus yrs, even Ford yrs out of school. This connection goes way back.
Travis Walker look at Lola Mk6 rear end and the rear of the F1. Its the same, so a formula or design DNA was passed from Lola to Stevens. There is an old Automotive Club which ALL the famous cars guys of yesteryear were a part of. That should be enough to get you going if your mind works like mine.

Remember this from nfs hot pursuit 3. I actually prefer it to the xj220 and it's probably one of the most unheard of/underrated cars ever. The race car was said to be very twitchy given where the engine was positioned

one of the best vids i have watched...loved the commentary really gave you a feel what it is like to drive a race car on the road. As well as being into cars i am also into jet skis an own a 360 bhp ex race ski and it requires full concentration and sheer determation and focus just to stay on. look forward to more vids 👍👍

You guys probably won't believe it, but I had a conversation with a friend just a couple of weeks ago about what is the most underrated car ever and I said the XJR 15!
Couldn't agree more - people will wake up and realise this at some point! It has so many good things going for it that it is without doubt the unsung hero!

My first memory of this car was when I was 6, watching Clarkson's 'Most outrageous supercar video...... ever'. He was less than complimentary about it. Probably didn't help it was raining when they shot the piece but the engine being mounted so high certainly didn't help either.
I'll never be able to buy a XJR9 so this is probably the closest one could get to it. Not that this is very cheap either! 😂. Like the Mclaren F1, this is probably one of the last cars you could drive to the track, race, win and then drive back home with the trophy in the passenger seat.

What a beautiful car!!! If it's by the same designer as the F1, my personal opinion is that this is the better looking car (and I absolutely love the McLaren F1!) The owner is a proper racing car nut, he is THE perfect owner for a car like this. I've just seen another TH-cam clip where one of these awesome cars is up for sale, the previous owner (who I think had bought the car from new) had NEVER even driven it!!! The car had around 60km on the clock!!! How could you own such an incredible car and never even drive it??? It's great to see that this car is properly driven and loved (I loved what he said about the livery, "it's my car and I'll pick how it looks!" Spot on!)

We would love to show you more but we had very limited time to shoot this and had only a single videographer and one photographer with us! May be we can revisit this amazing machine again and get more details on the build!

If this engine found its home in the XJ220, perhaps Jaguar would've had a more memorable presence in this era. Sadly, the XJ220 doesn't have the sound or driving experience (brakes famously suck and horrendous turbo lag), and the XJR-15 really isn't easy on the eyes...
The xj220 was very heavy as well
