For sure, if you are on defense, you feel embarrassed if the other team lets up on their play. These comments from people who are offended by this approach should be dismissed.
2nd and 3rd stringers rarely get to play; i don't blame them for wanting to score. Maryland had its first stringers in the game - play better defense then. Also Maryland is not going to any bowl game anyway so whether they lose 37-7 or 44-7 won't really make a difference.
I look at it as giving players who normally don't have an opportunity to play that chance because you never know when you may need them to step up and carry the load when your starter(s) can't. It's college football. It happens every week to so many teams you can't keep track. At the college level (and I don't agree with it), the goal is to win by as wide of a margin as possible while developing EVERY player on the team - that means seeing how your 2nd and 3rd string players perform at all levels. Nick Saban NEVER took his foot off the gas when he coached at Alabama.
Bro, 3-4th strings versus your ones? And you mad? Yeah you should be mad; mad at your ones, and yourself. Anything else is projection cause he’s made his own bed to lay in.
anybody that remembers what happened at Iowa a few years ago will understand why you have to develop all your roster. players are no longer locked in for four years as in years past, so you need to get your depth game experience.
I’m a Maryland fan through and through, and as unclassy as it could have come across going for a score late, stop them. Simple as that. I’m ready for the Locksley era to end. What could’ve been with James Franklin as our head coach after we fired Fridge…. Sigh. Go terps….
Even Kirk Ferentz would've been an improvement over Locksley.Locksley is a USC not choking the game away from being 3-9 this year 0-9 in conf.Iowa and Penn State have an identity they run the ball don't beat themselves play tough defense both are better in the trenches their tight ends are better than than their wide receivers. Maryland's Wr's could start at both schools but i doubt their OL DL would start at either school.
So you would be ok with James Franklin never getting you over the hump huh? Can't beat an actual good team, can beat a top 10 team ever lol Franklin is more overrated than Ryan day is and that's saying something.
Mike Locksley showed his players he has there back , Neal Brown ( West Virginia ex-coach) cried about it behind James Franklins back... I do agree with Franklin for the idea if you don't like it , than stop it ... but it cuts both ways ...
Long time Maryland fan and Penn St hater. That said Penn St coach makes sense allowing his back ups an oppurtunity againsy marylands starters. Maryland wokeness will keep their athletics sub par for years to come.
MD wanted to play against the big boys, especially Penn State. Stop whining and commit to football. Otherwise go to the Colonial Athletic Association. It can take Delaware's spot.
There's no such thing as "classless" in terms of scoring vs an opponent. The only thing that matters is PSU, it's players and standing in the eyes of the CFP committee. If we lose to Oregon, the extra TD vs UMD could be of consequence, so screw UMD. It's about us. Period.
There's nothing wrong wit backups wanting to score with the rare chance they get to play, and this was the last game of the regular season. I'm good with this.
Penn State ran up the score against Maryland. James Franklin is a terrible person. You take a knee on the last play of the game. You don't disrespect your opponent.
@@James-FrankWin You're ok with Penn State throwing a touchdown pass on the last play of the game when they are leading by 32 points? You take a knee on the last play of the game. I hope Oregon runs up the score on Penn Stat and teaches James Franklin a lesson.
@@MrJohn33751 I hope you get a flat tire. And yes I am okay with it. I’m glad we did it against wvu two years ago. I’m glad we did it Saturday. I’m sick of these loser programs running their full offense and defense against our backups. If we are expected not to score late, then they shouldn’t get garage time scores either. And Franklin’s logic is correct. If we don’t destroy everyone, we don’t get “eye test” we don’t get “resume boosts” we make our post season lives harder by being a mediocrity like you are. I haven’t heard anyone criticizing Marcus feeeman or curt cignetti for notre dames and indianas score differential
@MrJohn33751 it was 3rd and 4th string. Not his fault Marylands first sting isn't as good as our bench players. Maybe Maryland needs a better COACH.........
If you don't want them to score, play defense. There. Done. Not at all complicated.
For sure, if you are on defense, you feel embarrassed if the other team lets up on their play. These comments from people who are offended by this approach should be dismissed.
W. 1-0. I'm good with it, and anybody else that's not? That's their problem. Well said coach.

So coach is supposed to tell his 3s and 4s not to play hard ?
Really, damn right ✅️
No, but he COULD tell them to take a knee. But that wouldn’t be fun… score the touchdown!!! Play defense!
Coach is right. Wins, scoring differential all important in playoff rankings.
Thanks for participating Mr. Terp
... and beating Ohio St. and Michigan once a decade .. also helps.

It’s called Football! It’s called development! The dude had his first string in! Are 3rd, and 2nd teams were in! Stop them from scoring! 🤷🏻♂️

Agreed. If this was 66-0 it's enough. These were 3s and 4s against their 1s and 2s maybe

Locksley wetting his panties after the game sounds like a coach that knows he could be done. Play some defense and quit crying already.
@@chadjustice8560get out of here dumb ahh
I'm with ya coach. If Locksley was any good as a coach, he would understand.

Football is microcosm of society, rudeness is accepted. A coach with class would have taken knee.
He's right Locksley. Develop a better, more competitive culture at Maryland and avoid these situations. Go Bucks

Wokeness? Explain.

Classless. If that happened to us we would be angry too. Period.
Play cover 2 or prevent if you don’t want to score

It’s called no mercy
You can just put a period at the end of the sentence, you don't have to actually write the word.
When you can't beat anyone decent u gotta run up the score against the shit teams
Psu beat at least 7 decent teams. Get you stupid opinions out of here. The wvu losers only chat is down the hall and to the left
@James-FrankWin the whole country mocks Franklin and Penn State for beating absolutely nobody .

Th score was already disrespectful. Play on….
He’s as a terrible person as you are an intelligent person. If you spend any time around this program, you would know it’s the opposite
