Magnet Fishing at a Rural Missouri Bridge (Found Safe)

Magnet Fishing from a rural bridge down in Missouri. Found a lot of cool old rusty junk, but the most exciting find was a large safe which was most likely stolen and dumped in the river.

That steel piece is an old window weight. Old houses had them as a counter weight on the windows. Made them easier to open.

Some info for you. The plier type tool is a "vice grip". All keypad type safes require batteries. That weight is a "window weight" that was used to make it easier to lift old wooden windows. The part of the fishing line is a "steel leader". Hope that helps.

Cool finds! I've done some magnet fishing, but I don't think my magnets are quite strong enough for the bigger stuff. It's funny they cut that safe open, as those type of safes can be opened very easily without power tools or torches, if you know the "secret", lol. (any safe bought at a big box store is usually junk!) The batteries were to power the lock keypad. The large weight at 10:19 is a window sash weight, it would have been used on windows in homes from the 50's or earlier, to help with opening the windows.

It was some sort of amazon package deal with gloves and rope for about 60-70 bucks.
