      What isn’t? Floor tiles, clothing, rope and about 200 other things you’d never expect. War on drugs destroying the US hemp industry is never talked about but so god damn harming to our way of life.

    • @alexveldhuis6004
      @alexveldhuis6004 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Dupont are makers of nylon rope and were also behind stopping hemp production as hemp fibre was used for making rope and therefore major competition to the company's profit margin.

    • @xSCHEF
      @xSCHEF 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@alexveldhuis6004 don’t talk about those devils Alex. Honestly we all complain about Monsanto / Bayer but god damn DuPont and their systematic takedown of the hemp industry and the PFAS/Teflon saga is pure evil. Thanks for that comment I almost forgot about that.
      And before anyone mentions rope as non important. Rope is extremely important for society as we know it today and heavily involves plastics/oil. Switching to hemp rope alone would be a major major shift towards a greener way of life. Rope/string is used EVERYWHERE.

      @@xSCHEF hemp rope has been used by ships since ships were first invented. For the largest ships they're still used because a hemp rope is much stronger than nylon, so you can have thinner ropes. And considering those ropes are already as thick as an arm that says a lot

    I have a theory that if there isn't a purpose built machine for a crop, there can't be a huge viable market. Hemp seems to fit that category. Why spend hours in reverse, and do empty passes to reset? This could be done with a header on a swather, with a conveyor that switches sides ...

    • @alexveldhuis6004
      @alexveldhuis6004 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Because they are harvesting green material, not just seeds. Combines don do well with green material anyway because it wraps around the drum and clogs it up. The drum is the separator of grains on a conventional combine, where further separation occurs in the straw walker section. On newer design combines the drum or 2 drums run along the length of the machine and clogging up would only be worse. Combines are essentialy ony operated in plant material that is dead and pretty much dry as a bone. Use them in green material and it becomes a right mess. In the video there is a point where the machine comes to the end of the rows and you can clearly see material wrapping around the rotating cone mounted at the side of the cutter bar. That is what the inside of the combine would look like in about 10 seconds flat.
