It's good good to good to see people who are professionals or teachers etc using vintage machines. In many ways they are better than new. Give me a vintage or antique any day over a new one.

I just bought a 401A & a snap-on adapter. Now enjoying your video. My 401A came with a straight-stitch door and a couple others. Thanks for your great vid.

Hi Christopher, Just found your youtube channel today and subscribed. I've been watching for hours! I really love your enthusiasm, it's contagious. Thank you so much for your generosity of spirit in sharing your knowledge and training with us. I got interested in sewing about 7 years ago, and as you’ve said, through the kindness of strangers I’ve learned all I know. Isn’t it amazing with modern technology how we can help each other out across the globe! I especially love your attention to the technical detail of sewing machines (which is what got me started, I love machines). These tips, like how to use presser foot (the little black button - will stay with me forever); this video on precision sewing - they’re so valuable. I don’t mind a wobbly camera if you’re able to show such close detail (by the way the photography is good, clear and crisp). Thanks Christopher - greetings from North Wales UK - Kind Regards Colin

You've inspired me to get out my old Kenmore model1980 that came out in the 70's...It came with a straight stitch needle plate, straight stitch foot and a lot of other great accessories!LOL...You're gonna give that poor lady that thinks you need a tripod, vertigo!!!

Chris, You mention an adapter to allow snap on feet. I have a Singer 401A and am learning to sew. Where did you get that adapter? What are the keywords I should use to find one on line. I appreciate your videos - very informative.

I have a 401A also. Do you have a hard time going through thick fabrics?
    Love your videos.

Nancy Carlisle I have one too. I use my walking for if really thick fabrics. Purchase a walking foot if you don’t have one.

Nancy Carlisle I LOVE my 401a, they will pry it from my cold dead hands. The walking foot attachment has feed dogs on top so it pulls the fabric through two sets of feed dogs, top and bottom. Search TH-cam for Singer 401a walking foot attachment and you’ll find a tutorial on it. ♥️
