@@lovettdeleted sure he told this in the court. AFAIU direct reason for the murder was that his parents tried to treat his drug addiction, by sending to rehabilitation centers or such. And he hated very much that they were trying to take back his drug journeys. Drug addiction should be treated carefully.

It's modern Industrial. The trappings are all there. Throbbing Gristles first record had a song about a serial killer sung in first person. This is what Industrial should have turned into years ago, instead of whiney goth club songs, with lyrics about relationships etc. As a life long Industrial and noise fan, I'm happy to see an actual transgressive industrial act use modern electronic pop tropes complete with euro pop singing etc. I'm very glad they exist.

I went to High School with Tyler. I’ll never forget when this happened, it really shook the community up. And PSL is a place where everyone knows everyone. My ex was invited to the party because at the time there was NOTHING to do for teens so the fb post quickly got around to other teens at the time and everyone flocked there… we didn’t go. A couple other mutual friends from my class went. And I saw them on trial.. just crazy. People weren’t the same here bc nothing like that has ever happened here before. RIP Mary Jo and Blake. They were just your average everyday normal people. 💔

Tyler recently said Blake and Mary Jo were Saints when asked what kind of parents they were. I generally don't feel anything for people I don't know...but this whole thing makes me sad. Blake and Mary Jo, Tyler...all gone, sacrifices to absolutely nothing. He didn't kill them to throw a party, I don't understand why he did it... And I don't think Tyler really knows the whys and whatfors. Fckn shame the whole thing.

The "Tyler" in this video portrays the persona almost perfectly. Kid could have a future in acting, for sure. That deranged look he has on his face when his dad sees him and what he's done.... chills!

    • @WynneL
      @WynneL 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

Really excellent acting, definitely. This is so chilling. Somehow it gets to me so much more than the others... maybe because it's so recent and real, and so hard to comprehend. I could give you an explanation for the psychology of Richard Ramirez, even. Hadley, though? Damn. Why? Just why?

    • @NXSProductions
      @NXSProductions 4 ปีที่แล้ว +42

@@WynneL From his standpoint, he felt like his parents (his mother specifically) was way too strict on him and always assumed the worst out of him. Whenever he would ask for something, whether it was to hang out with his friends or asking for a new phone, he was denied. Eventually, this constant denial would lead to Tyler's resentment of his parents and him acting out.
Tyler started stealing, staying out past curfew, coming home drunk, and telling his friends that his parents were awful to him and only put up a "nice front" when people outside of his immediate family were around. He started abusing drugs which only fueled his rage and warped his perception further.
Still, people knew Tyler was an inherently "good" kid, so when he said he wanted to kill his parents, his friends dismissed it as nothing more than a morbid joke from a frustrated friend. Tyler even told his best friend, Mike, that even though he had thought about doing it, he could never bring himself to actually go through with it.
Tensions continued to rise in the Hadley household and Tyler, continually being high on drugs, began planning on killing his parents, throwing one hell of a party, and then killing himself before word of the massacre spread. The day it happened, to be able to go through with it, Tyler took 3 tabs of ecstacy and listened to Lil Boosie's "Feel Lucky" to get himself "psyched up." Then he grabbed a claw hammer, stood behind his mom, who was working at her computer, for several minutes before finally hitting her and killing her.
Tyler's dad heard the commotion, came to see what was going on, and Tyler began hitting him with the hammer. Tyler's dad asked him "Why?" repeatedly as Tyler kept hitting him.
Tyler's response? "Why the fuck not?!"
So, in conclusion, Tyler's twisted and warped logic regarding his parents being overprotective and restrictive was the catalyst in him killing his parents and throwing his party.

@@YourOldPalDP That's literally what the killer said to most of his victims. SKYND use very specific elements and details of the particular crime in their songs to be very clear about who they're talking about, what kind of person the killers were, and the suffering from the victims. This isn't glorifying the killers in the least, it's using a terrible event and tragedy and turning it into dark art.

Billie Eilish is about as creepy and dark as she can be while still being mainstream. The mainstream is too limited by the need of record companies to make money and their fear that taking artistic risks endanger that, it means sacrificing freedom of creative expression, and so not the best environment for artists to thrive in. I think Billie would have been better off underground, and I think in a few years, she'll probably feel that way too.

These murders happened on July 16, 2011, at 5 p.m., in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Tyler Hadley, 17, had severe mental problems. He takes 3 XTC pills and goes to his mother, Mary-Jo. He starts beating her with a hammer. Hearing screams, Tyler's father, Blake, runs to the scene. Tyler beats his father also to death. He spends three hours cleaning up the mess. Then, Tyler makes a Facebook post letting people know that he is hosting a party that night. About 60 people gather for the party. That night, Tyler shows his best friend, Michael Mandell, the master bedroom with the blood and the 2 bodies in that room.
Tyler is sentenced to life in prison.

At 0:57 when u first see Skynd with the way her makeup and that smile done in all black is creepy looking, but so effin great! I'm so glad that I literally just stumbled upon Skynd with them being recommended to me and it was Columbine that I first heard and from that song on I was hooked. I've watched interviews with Skynd and how she decides what cases to cover as songs. I know some people think that they are just being disrespectful by making music out of such atrocities, but personally IMO I don't think they are trying to make light of any of these high profile cases. At least to me I don't find their songs any more disrespectful than the countless authors who aren't involved in any way, shape, or form with these cases and they go on to write books about these tragedies. If society were to try and censor all of the creative liberties that musicians, authors and countless others who use tragedies such as these to get the stories out there the world would be such a PG rated place n the victims stories would never really be known. I'm not sure if anything I just wrote makes sense, but it does to me or at least it did in my head as I was writing this.

Okay, I see a lot of people in the comments calling this respectful and I'm really interested in hearing your reasoning there.
Two moments are often referenced by killers who take pride or other kinds of joy from what they did - the moment when the victims realized they would die and the moment life left the body.
One of those two is in the video - twice. The frame at 4:00 is, as I see it, very noteworthy in terms of respect - or the lack of it I personally perceive.
Hadley's elevated over the father and in a dynamic position. The father, meanwhile, stands there in what can be seen as a purposefully "derpy" or "goofy" position, especially in his reaction. There is no natural flinching, just an almost penguin-esque flapping of the hands that, even within slow-motion, feels dragged out and counterintuitive in terms of reacting to someone charging at you with a hammer.
If we're arguing that this is solely rooted in the artistic intention, then what is the respectful part about said intention? Solely depicting how Hadley himself likely saw it is not respectful to the victims - at least not if said delusional, drug-induced perspective fully carries over to the framing which in this case - at least how I see it - seems to be the obvious intention.
Then there's the scene where he smashes the hammer down repeatedly and is covered in the blood of his victims. This is reminiscent of horror movies and it plays into that exact voyeurism to show it. Again, I can't see how that is respectful.
The fact that people in the comments are having !fun! with this, say they "feel less weird about getting excited talking about serial killers" and other statements that strongly point towards normalizing the morbid voyeurism that leads to groupies sending Dahmer or Manson love letters or harass the families' of victims to get their fix, shows to me that neither this song nor its accompanying video is truly intended to be respectful, but rather targetted at that fix exactly.
I am curious to hear counterpoints - but if you reply to this, please stay civil and actually argue points and not just taste. This is about very real people and I think we owe it to them and everyone who had to suffer the consequences of people like T. Hadley to mindfully reflect on what we are doing when we create and consume artwork like Skynd's.

I have asked this basically in short form before, no one ever answers. I even went to watch interviews of the lead singer and band members to understand how they see from their point of view where they are helping the victims. She has claimed in interviews that she hates and does not co-sign on what these murders did and is not glorifying it, but isn't she though?! She even stated that she doesn't identify with them, but when asked another question directly if she had to choose one she identifies with she states Katherine Knight because she claims Katherine did everything she did out of love. If you know the true story of Katherine Knight she did not do it out of love this could be further from the truth.
I would like to see someone actually do research on the band and share their point of view. What I don't understand why no one has spoken on this band about how they portray these murders and the contradiction by the lead singer. I think the one video they did on Gary Heidnik is a way better example of the lead singer's contradictions from what she has said in interviews. In the uncensored video of Gary Heidnik the lead singer actually joins in helping the killer commit crimes and is shown photographing him while he does it and laughing during. If this video bothers you watch that one, because it is way worse. The huge problem with it I will admit their music does sound good, but if they portrayed it differently than maybe I could get on board with what they are claiming they are trying to do with these videos.
I even tweeted and posted to Sarah Hawkins whom is against glorifying real life murders, but she has never responded to me. I even replied to a tweet months ago where Sarah asked for video ideas, but yet is still not made a video on them.

I don't know who calls this respectful? If you find this disrespectful, I can see why. I don't think Skynd makes the music to offer respect or disrespect to the people, just to display the crimes musically. Also maybe the person depicting the father wasn't a very good actor and couldn't display emotion or action of how a person would react in that situation. About the comments, there are horrible people everywhere that do fantasize/romanticize about serial killers, but there are also other people that are fascinated in the actions and cases of other humans or just enjoy the music. Of course this song will attract the mix of people (I for one enjoy the music). *Warning* Skynd is also releasing a new video tomorrow of the Columbine massacre, and that will definitely bring in the mix (as you may be aware of the Columbiners who glorify those killers.) There are opinions of everything and everyone thinks their own way, they perceive things differently and it's okay. You see this to be negative and I understand why, people enjoy this song and I understand. I understand that people are fascinated and study on cases and I understand that there are people that glorify or romanticize them. Skynd makes their art as how they want it, people see the art and take it how they want it. I just say to understand that people are different, and I also dont condone glorifying/romantasizing killers (there just are those kind of people out there just like the killers.)

@@TheLiana1102 I know about Katherine Knight and that answer makes me shake my head, to be honest. That wasn't love at any point. Makes me wonder whether the high artistical quality in Skynd's music hides a shallow point of view.
I mean, whether or not someone identifies with the criminal is a matter of reason and approach, imo. It's important we acknowledge that these people aren't random mutants popping up out of nowhere but very real human beings who were shaped as much by their surroundings as they were by their own brains. Milgram's experiment, at the latest, showed that we all have the potential to go dark. Sympathies, however, are a different ballpark and I don't think liking or even glorifying any kind of murderer can ever be condoned.
I appreciate you took the time to write a reply - especially since people didn't reply to you at any point.
Came back to edit: I just found an interview where she explains her reasoning a bit more and I must say, I can see her point. What do you think? www.hysteriamag.com/skynd-criminal-mind/

@@wilfridoramirez1339 Some people in the comments do. I scrolled for a bit to see what people were saying.
As I see it, just liking the music doesn't morally cover it. I like the music too - and I did watch the Columbine video. However, I'm still more than careful about digging deeper there and only doing so to get a feeling for the band's moral approach. Enjoyment is a mundane thing, even moreso if it happens on the backs of real suffering - so while I'm not opposed to horrifying music or videos, I think it needs a LOT of empathy and awareness to use material to the likes of Skynd's choice. It is one thing to be curious about and fascinated by the darkness of the human mind - it is another to capitalize on real people's grief and pain to scratch that itch.
So, for me, it's not about the nutcases only who romantisize killers. Quite the opposite, really, I'm interested in people who are still aware of the reality behind it all and empathize with the victims and their families (which is a lost cause with the groupie-kind anyway) and how they'd argue their case.
The Columbine video, so far, is the only one that properly frames what happened in my opinion, albeit even with that one Skynd appearently couldn't resist throwing in some "tasty bits" for the edgy audience. I enjoy the music, but I don't want to really give into that side of it until I'm really sure the band approaches this with empathy and respect because "lulz, it's fun" is a shit explanation for something that is far beyond the harmless realm of fiction.
So, essentially, by asking this question, I'm simply trying to see if people who spend as much thought on the what and why of things have something that morally covers it or if the choice with Skynd is a simple "Either you give a shit and don't listen or you decide not to give a flying fuck and do whatever."

You're one of the best and more creative bands i've listened so far. It's truly amazing how you blend the mind of a psychopath with this crazy (and awesome) music you do. I loved Chapter 2, waiting for Chapter 3 haha
    Cheers from Brazil. ❤

I'm a big fan of SKYND.. no doubt about the power of this type of music... i love it... but i have to say that the actor who plays Tyler Hadley is particularly good... i would like to see him in a Hollywood movie or a good series ... I hope this clip will propel him into an acting career. (message from France).
