- In a cold evening, me and Valentin Malanetski from @expandfilms decided to record the Gnossiennes and Gymnopedies. Here are the Gnossiennes, soon I will upload the other ones. Subscribe :)

I just discovered Satie's music. I'm impressed.
No. 4 is simply not of this world. That was a joy to listen to
The entire piece was so relaxing. It was always like I was expecting someone to shout saying dinner is ready. Zz
I really like the way you break the tempos up between phrases. It adds emotion to the music
Hypnotically sublime.
This music gave me so much comfort when my dad died suddenly. I played it going through his empty house, looking for him. He wasn’t there and the feeling was desolate, but the music helped. 😢
So sorry to hear about your dad, and sorry that you had to go through this pain. May God rest his soul.

This hits different. A masterclass. Satie was getting back to life during this sequence. You could feel its mysterious and quirky presence in the room.

The sound is delightful, and de and the cinematic of the video is simple, deep, and the lighting dim enough to capture the viewer along with the music.

Not that I am a skilled musician or an expert but I do love hearing people taking on Erik Satie on Gnosiennes and Gymnopedie. This is one of the finest examples on youtube, sounds way better than your Gymnopedie take for some reason. I wish I could listen to you live. Best of luck, you are a magician.

Mergeti la biserica Sf. Spiridon (Spitalul de Urgenta) sau la Sf. Mucenita Parascheva (Azil) ca sa auziti cat de simplu si frumos se inalta notele pentru Cuvant.

I immediately liked the colours, the lighting and the camera angles. It feels very intimate, but for me the Gnossiennes always sounded not very intimate, but rather introspective and also a bit distanced. But this setting makes them more "revealing". Also very comfy piano chair ^^ Thank you for uploading this very beautiful recording of Satie!
Yes, the "normal" piano chair was making a lot of noise, so I chose the comfy silent one 😁

For me no. 5 is a real challenge with all the changing chords, and crazy right hand, and key change in the middle! But it is beautiful. No 3 is fantastic. Well done. Long live Satie!
Beautiful, I always rip apart youtube pianists for their rendition of famous pieces like a snob want a be intellectual. Its hard to beat some of these recordings especially if it was the first you heard and fell in love with times over. I never thought about playing Gnossenes like this and its just so resonant and brilliant. I hope to one day interpit a piece unique and superior to famous recordings like you just did. I never loved Gnossines until now. Have you ever heard "Pieces Froides"?

I really like your interpretation. Your choice of tempo and dynamics are those I prefer the most.
However, what edition are you using? I hear a couple of things quite different from usual: a couple of slurs missing in no1 (which lead to repeating notes) and a whole passage missing in no4 ...
Hello! I use some 2006 edition from imslp. I checked the slurs and it looks like it is all played how its written... but about nr 4, you are right!! :)) crazy... not me, not the sound engineer noticed that... but as I said, was a late evening, and we did more of an experiment, it was not intended to be the best recording, maybe I will do another one though :)

Yes, I had seen that edition (Les Edition Outremontaises ?). I rejected it immediately because they strangely added the bar lines! Something stranger than the Satie's decision of not using them ;-)
(I think he - Pierre Gouin - used some editing software that required them, but, hey!)
Actually, a first time (1 bar after "questionnez") the slur is missing, while the second time (1 bar after "postulez en vous-meme") it is there. You play them accordingly.
But I think it is a (minor?) error of the editor.
All the other editions I know have the slur in both places and, in all the interpretations I've heard, the F is never repeated after the appoggiatura. That's why I immediately got the difference.
Just compare to the other editions you can find on IMSLP (Salabert, Peters) and other executions on TH-cam.
With respect to the missing section in No4... it may happen :-) Even Reinbert de Leew missed a long passage in No4 in a late live recording (11:10 here th-cam.com/video/5bIeYqpn0Gk/w-d-xo.html). ;-)
But one does not judge the interpretations from these things !

nope, I dont think so... but as you said, this is my interpretation, it could be different from others :)
@@MarcelLazar It sounded beautiful anyway, but I was just asking because I am going to play this piece for an audition, and when I play it it is slower and I end the piece around 4m30, maybe I play it slower than it should...
Anyway thanks for your playing, and I particulary like your interpretation of the 3rd Gnossienne, it's just beautiful !
Of course the interpretation of Gnossiennes is a little bit faster than traditional interpretation but as for me it's just what I would like to hear
