Next time you have to add USA, forty years ago, when I emigrated to US, I thought I was in the dream land. What is happening in this country is just heartbreaking, I’m 66 already, I wish I knew then what I know about this country now. I feel all my hard work and my dreams shattered just before my eyes. My age folks usually looking forward for retirement and enjoy their retirement, sadly I’m panicking for uncertainty and aggressive government policies towards elderly people, everything is out of reach for retired people, the rent, food, safety. US government no longer has respect for their citizens I don’t know in the past some how they were pretending they are. Government intentionally creating racial division, instead of uniting people.

I'm sorry for the most part I understand why ex pats don't like their new homes but the one thing that kept popping up that I don't understand is the English speaking part. If your moving to a country that doesn't speak English you should learn their language first at least enough to get by day to day. That's very ignorant to assume just because you going to live in a big city in a different country thatt alot of people will speak English. English is the language of corporate and diplomats around the world not down in the streets and stores of everyday people in foreign countries.

Live in the small village of Gaianes with my 58 year old Companion MariCarmen, limited to a 3.3 kW supply , we use a fair bit , the Jan / Feb bill was €11.37. Lots from Solar & some nuclear ,a wonderful free health system ,good nutritious food , very cheap citrus fruits , friends have given us 10 l of virgin olive oil , best in the world ,who do we thank for that , well Romans !

Already fluent in French, having owned an apment for 30 yrs, when I relocated here I am miserable. The adm details are intended to obfuscate a broken social system. As a physician, once hospitalised the care was sub minimal. The staff poorly trained, limited range of medications, it was pre-reap;utionary France with levels of power over patients that was against everything I knew as appropriate medical care in the US. Treatment is like an Old Ford plant, you are an inanimate object on an assembly line: don't let your fingers venture far or they will be cut off. Everything I experienced in 3 hospital visits were third world quality. With wealth in France there is a different way of life. Despite an Ile St Louis spacious home, etc., I regret having made the move.

Hi. Your comments surprise me. Perhaps the reputation of the French healthcare system is overrated? When I was there for nine days in November 2023, I saw a group of about 20 people standing outside in the drizzle waiting for something to open, and it was a medical clinic. While I loved Monmartre/Clichy, the amount of scammers there dismayed me.

Know a a fellow soldier who moved to Germany in the eighties. The reason was he lived in Santa Monica after the army.
On average he would see a crime or the results of one about ever two weeks and he realized the situation was going to get worse.
Looking back he said it was a very wise decision. He can work around his area without a care and there's very little next to no crime.

Now there's a perfect example of how fast things can change--Germany! Did you know that most people, including , were quite safe in Germany at one time and even had German citizenship unlike other European countries, until Hitler came along? And did you know that the nazi era in Germany only lasted about 12 years from beginning to end? And do you remember that the nazis destroyed Germany in that short period of time. Just because things look good on the surface does not mean things will stay that way. They can change in the blink of an eye anywhere.

We have very low crime, great schools and a great hospital with amazing care. We moved here from Phoenix in 1980. Most people speak English, but they are hard working and good. No place is perfect. The worst thing is the prices of housing , but being retired the State helps keep our rent fairly affordable. I love the mountains and scenery. We raised our 4 children here, and have never regretted our move. They all are successful adults who have families. Our children and grandchildren had the kind of start in life that we wanted for them. No place is perfect, but not all of the US is bad. The title should be "10 countries people from the US regret moving to". The language barrier works in both directions, Asian people find English being hard and illogical, and even many Europeans get never fluent in English although it's obligatory to learn it in school almost everywhere. Thus, it's hilarious to criticise countries on the basis that few people speak English if you don't mention that your assessment was made from a US perspective. I know people regretting having moved to the US, because of the high crime rate, lack of social security and lack of obligatory pension schemes, bad public schools, no free universities and missing public traffic in most places. The US is shiny and modern from the distant, but in many ways closer to a third-world-country than to a western EU country.

I’m a U.S. American who emigrated to Mexico more than three years ago and I have no regrets. It’s a beautiful country with beautiful people and so much more. I’m retired, so not working so I don’t have those considerations.
I will say that anyone seeking to move to another country should research it first as much as possible so you know what you’re getting into. I think it’s ridiculous to complain about things like the language and the weather those things are easy enough to find out and you can decide before hand if you can deal with possible obstacles with regards to those. Also as to crime, sure Mexico has crime, but so does the US and it’s not everywhere here. Why would you move to a city that’s known for crime in any country. And as to the corruption that is probably true too, but I dare you to show me a country that doesn’t have some corruption. I personally haven’t experienced any crime or corruption in Mexico at all and I don’t speak Spanish and I get along just fine. This video deals in a lot of generalizations and is probably designed just for the hype. Like I said it’s easy enough to research a country even a city before going there, that’s what you should do imo. Have a beautiful day!😊

In my book that’s one of the problems with the world, there’s all this unnecessary competition, for me it’s about finding what works for me and as long as that doesn’t infringe on anyone else then it’s all good and I think everyone should think and behave like that and the world would be a better place. We are individuals with different backgrounds, needs and wants so we have to decide what’s best for us based on those. From what I have seen most people don’t move from their home country no matter how bad things get, the obstacle of learning a new country is more than they are up for and the pull of the familiar is too strong. Went back to Texas, bounced around working at Wal-Mart and golf courses, then when I started Social Security in 2005, moved to Bangkok, taught English for several years for something to do, and finally headed up to Chiang Mai permanently in 2014, but I did make a final attempt to live in Texas back in 2018, but all my friends were either dead or had become political psychopaths, so after 3 months, I decided living in exile was better in the long run. I've experienced it personally when my family moved from Germany to Canada after WWII. And look at what's happened in Canada in just the last few decades! A once wonderful country that has deteriorated into a nightmare. We moved from Canada to the USA and while we certainly prospered for a while in the USA in the last few decades we've seen everything deteriorate: Cities, criminal activity, drug use, mental health, homelessness, race relations, ever more intrusion of government into our personal lives, all the nightmares we thought we had left behind.
