Great video thank you. I am just about to take this boat so your video gave me lots of the info I was looking for. Two questions please: does the boat only take Peruvian money? Can you get that in Leticia? And what about your valuables on board? I'm traveling with a laptop. Thanks. Appreciate your time.

Hi! I had some Colombian pesos with me and they accepted them. But if you have Peruvian money (Soles) that would be much preferred by the vendors on the boat. Plus, you might want to buy snacks off the boat in the towns and you’ll need soles for that. You can exchange currency in Santa Rosa before the boat takes off. I don’t recall if you could do that in Leticia.
I kept my valuables in my small backpack and I kept it directly under my hammock at night. On the last night, I slept with my backpack in the hammock with me since I knew we were docking and there would be a lot of movement that night. That just gave me peace of mind.
      Enjoy the journey!!

@mckennatravels thanks Mckenna. I found a cambio in Leticia that gave me Peruvian Soles. What was hard was finding correct info about the boat! It's dry season now which changes everything. The boat can't leave from Santa Rosa as there's no water there! It seems to change its position of departure along the river. I got alot of conflicting info about everything. No boats leave from Leticia dock either for the same no water reason. You have to walk across a wooden foot bridge to Isle de la Fantasia ( opposite Leticia) and to the other side of that island ( about 10 minutes) In the end I worked out that the guys who ask if you want a boat to the Peru boat know the best info. They are there when you reach the other side of the island. I leave tomorrow, Saturday at midday while usually during the week it seems to be in the afternoon. Everyone also says the boats leave every day. I'm looking forward to the trip but won't relax until I am actually on the boat and we have sailed away!!! Happy travels to you.

@@CatherineCampbell-ut3fcthat is insane!! Quite different from the wet season, wow. Good job navigating all that. It’s crazy how tricky it is, but I think it’s part of the fun and makes it even more of an adventure. I hope you had an enjoyable boat ride and time in Peru 😊
