    After tons of research, reading and watching reviews, and literally getting on a plane and flying to UT to see Force USA’s equipment in person, I decided to purchase the Monster G12. The 1:1 ratio is an important factor for me, though I will reiterate what so many reviews have pointed out - a 1:1 ratio makes certain isolation movements difficult to increase weight (like lateral raises). But it’s necessary for big power movements like seated rows. Otherwise you end up getting stronger than the weight stack on those power movements and you have to hang free-weight plates on the pin or adaptor to add weight. It was easy enough to buy some 2.5lb and 5lb weight stack add-on plates to use on the weight stacks for smaller increases in weight.
    The Smith Machine is very smooth. Smoother than most I’ve used. The counterbalancing was another key factor for me choosing the G12. This is so my wife can use the machine comfortably and not be starting with a heavy bar. With counterbalancing, she can lift as light as she needs to. And I can still lift as heavy as I want/need to.
    ***IMPORTANT COMMENT: I ha e NOT been able to find a FID bench that will work on the G12’s Smith Machine while inclined. Meaning I cannot perform incline e bench presses on this Smith machine. I’ve tried several brands and styles, and even Force USA does not offer a bench that works. I wish I would have thought to check that while I was in Utah looking at the machines. I have shoulder injuries so using the Smith was/is a really important factor in me purchasing a new machine. So I am very disappointed that I cannot perform incline bench pressing movements in my nearly $6K machine. (BTW - I contacted Force USA twice about this and they basically just brushed me off telling me they don’t know of a solution. This after putting me on hold to go check their benches on the G12 and then acting surprised on the phone with me when they found out their own benches won’t work for incline presses on their own machine.
    Aside from that BIG issue, I use the machine regularly and have not had any issues with it.

      Thanks for such a detailed comment. You are even more obsessed about research before a purchase than me.
      As someone who likes to do incline bench with the smith machine, that is disappointing to hear. I’m definitely going to add that element to my product reviews when it comes to all-in-one trainers.

    • @rk8833
      @rk8833 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@StevieRichardsFitness ForceUSA replied to a review I did on their website on the G12, and they essentially said that this issue is a sacrifice for having reduced depth on the machine - and states that I could do inclines using the J hooks and spotter arms using a free bar, which tells me they didn’t fully take in my review in which I said I have injuries that are haunting me these days. I am super bummed to have spent this much money and now not be able to perform a key exercise on it (incline bench press). What’s interesting is that I saw a review on TH-cam where the reviewer was actually doing incline bench press on the G12. I replied to that review to find out what bench he was using, and he replied and said it was an older ForceUSA bench. So ForceUSA used to have a bench that works for this, but now they don’t. And they are explaining it away by saying to just use the free-weight option. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Hi mate, is it not possible to setup the bench either way to do the incline bench? Or decline for that matter? Also with the latpulldown can your arms extend fully with a stretch at top if you are about 183cm tall. Cheers

      @christopherandelin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While incline benching, you could try putting a phone book, yoga block, etc. on the seat pad. Getting that extra height puts the body in a better angle.

      Force USA released a new FID bench a few months ago. I purchased it and it works great on the G12 Smith machine for incline bench pressing. The bench is called Pro Series FID Bench on their website. It’s a high quality bench, and the design of it allows the incline to be set to 30 degrees and the bench fits perfectly underneath the Smith bar.

    Bought this peace of equipment but the V2 model, the newer updated one and had it professionally installed this week. Super impressed with it, RRP in the UK was £3,995 but I managed to get £250 off with a code for the Olympics and because I was messed about with a few scuff marks being on the matt black frame work, aswell has having to wait for the weight stack retention plates to come as they were missing in my crate, I managed to get a further £500 back.
    I have to say this is an amazing peace of equipment I'm super impressed and have enjoyed using it.

    This is great. I bought an Inspire M3 last year to add to my home gym and there are some things that it does great, but it’s not even close to this, and the cost difference all in isn’t that much different. Thanks for putting this up! You seem like such a great dude and I’m learning a ton from watching your channel!

    • @StevieRichardsFitness
      @StevieRichardsFitness  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jay,
      That’s a tough one. The G12 is definitely a great all in one trainer. Personally, I was considering it and ended up going with the G15 because of the dual cable pulley ratios and upgrade kit.
      The G12 has a 1:1 cable pulley ratio and is a great choice if your ceiling is too low for something like the G15. Also, the G12 right now is $500 less than the G15.
      One more thing at the time of this comment- the G12 is in stock while the G15 is not. That’s always a consideration with these crazy times.

    The range of motion from the pulleys seems to be pretty small and limited. Would you say it can be a limiting factor for some exercises using the pulley system? Is the feeling of the pulleys comparable to a commercial gym? Thanks

    • @StevieRichardsFitness
      @StevieRichardsFitness  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The feeling is very comparable to ones I’ve used in commercial gyms. I own the G6 and haven’t felt like I’m missing anything.
      The length of the pulleys can be a little shorter than a full commercial setup, but those also take up way more space.

      I’d take the G12 any day of the week.
      The build quality is much better on the G12 and comes with a lifetime structural warranty.
      Also, the G12 includes many more attachments than the Precor- including a leg press attachment.
      The Smith machine, in my opinion, is better on the G12 as well.
      There’s also a TV mount available for the G12, which is pretty cool.
      Pricing is about the same and you get way more with the G12.

    @Stevie Richards The 1:1 Ratio seems to be very heavy. I already ordered the G12, but when I see all the comments, I'm a bit afraid that for my girlfiend it's maybe to heavy. There's no possibility to reduce the first wheight plates, isn't it? Furthermore do you feel limited in your exercises, due to you height?

    • @StevieRichardsFitness
      @StevieRichardsFitness  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have the G12 here in my home gym, but had no height issues when using it for a week at Force USA HQ.
      As far as your girlfriend- you can always take the pin out and use bands for variable resistance. The smooth cable track may make her feel like the weight isn’t that bad anyway.

    Hello. Which is better g6, g9 or g12?

    • @StevieRichardsFitness
      @StevieRichardsFitness  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It really all depends on your budget.
      If you have plates and don’t really care about weight stacks, the G9 is the best bang for your buck IMO.
      THE G6 and G12 are both strong contenders for trainers with weight stacks. There are some differences:
      The G12 has a 1:1 ratio on the stacks while the G6 has a 2:1 ratio.
      The interior working space is wider on the G12.

    • @aaronngo7179
      @aaronngo7179 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@raytrei13 I returned my G12 for the G6 for a number of reasons.
      1. G12 is too wide so when you re-rack the barbell (7ft) there is no clearance causing you to hit the bar (or bumper plates) on the G12 cage causing unnecessary wear.
      2. 1:1 Ratio is very heavy and feels nothing like ANY of the cable machines you find in commercial gyms, it's very hard to pull. But if you're a strong lad, this might not bother you haha. But if you have other friends or family who want to get into fitness and try your G12 machine, they will have trouble.
      3. You can not do standing overhead press on the Smith machine unless you're super short. I'm 173cm and I couldn't do a standing overhead press on the G12. The G6 is taller with lots of clearance.
      4. G12 Cables aren't very long. If you step out too far from the machine, it bottoms out and hits the top. G6 has a lot more reach, if you felt you needed to step forward a little you can do that. You have lots of cable to play with.
      I got mine from Gym and Fitness and they allowed me to swap out the G12. You can go for the G12 if you want. I suggest going to a show room to test out the G6 and G12 if you can.
