I'm sure that Borogrove will be remembered as one of the most influential artists of our generation, especially after he will inevitably turn his style of music into something that's truly his, within a few years
I am so frustrated that I didn't know your channel when it was active, I would have followed your work with an intense passion. Well, I am doing it now haha. I hope you'll become more active again in the future.
Quin plaer trobar comentaris escrits en català de tant en tant a canals on generalment es parlen altres idiomes. Jo acabo de descobrir a aquest improvisador, i és fantàstic, realment. Una abraçada!
Borogrove! This was excellent as always, still so glad I found you on Redditlive (I almost never check it) but I got the Practical Manual of Harmony by Rimsky-Korsakov this week. I'm excited to finish it. Thanks again for the recommendation. :) -Axey
Many thanks Axey :) I hope you have lots of pleasant moments with Rimsky! Despite the apparent austere nature of the topic it can be quite en enjoyable read 😉, Streaming on Reddit has been a very fun experience for me, I’ll experiment some different streaming setups and websites, but it’s definitely a pretty good fit for impro 😉. (Although I’ll get back to proper tutorial videos too ;)
Oh but you’re more than welcome 😊🙂, the best present for me was to have people joining for my puny little morning impros from around the world. Since I always love to play I’ll always keep doing it, but I’m always happy if hopefully people can get something out of it :)
Easley I have nearly no compositions available online; and I nearly never write my music 😬; this is totally stupid on my part and I need to work on doing that. When I’ll have some things, I’ll be sure to publish the links here and on my website borogrove.org :)
How do you practically approach "fixing" the melody (soprano) and improvising the lower voices? ("Fixing" the bass is easier since you can use partimento patterns) I was thinking, in three voices, just make thirds and sixths with the middle/bass voice, then focus your attention on the remaining bass/middle voice. But this might give you a "modal" sound. Another approach would be to improvise a bass, then fill in the remaining voices to make things as harmonically interesting as possible.
Haha yes, I can’t remember where I’ve picked this one up.. it may have been an alternative source like a library somewhere that had it on their hands.. I must admit my scores are rather colonized by the austere blue Henle editions usually 😉
(But actually the engraving is quite good in this score! But I shouldn’t start on his subject because otherwise I’ll start ranting that the hand engraving was much better than the software assisted one [and of course much most time costly] 😉😅)
Yes indeed! The Roland c30 I used has a few different temperaments (usual stuff like, equal, meantone, Valotti, werkmeister 3, kirnberger) I also retune the root note sometimes (can get baroque tuning like 415hz by default but I also shift the pitch); Sorry for the people with an absolute ear 😬, but sometimes it can help with getting new ideas to improvise ;) Many thanks for the comment! 🙂
I.. was actually maybe thinking of doing so, but that's not something I've set up yet.. Don't worry I'll make sure to announce it clearly if I ever get ready to do it :-) And many thanks for your support and comment Sam!

Likewise!!! I'm a Redditor and am watching him now! Came here quickly to make sure I found him. Bravo!!!! My favorite new musician! 😍
Bro just discovered this channel. You gotta make guides bro!
Such a wonderful Christmas present thank you so much B.

Puny in appearance - but grand in spirit! 🙏🏻😌
6:00 one of my favourites😍
If you can improvise this well then your written compositions must be mindblowing. Is there anywhere I can find your compositions?

outstanding. i can't really see what you're doing when changing the intonation. do you change something digitally?

Keren bos👍
Your improv is incredible! What keyboard did you play this on?
Many thanks 😊! Today I played on a Roland C30 digital harpsichord :)
Hi! Do you offer zoom lessons?? I'll spare no expense.
I.. was actually maybe thinking of doing so, but that's not something I've set up yet..
Don't worry I'll make sure to announce it clearly if I ever get ready to do it :-)

Please improvise a fugue or canon (round) chromatic in nature.
Do you have Instagram??
I do not sadly :(.. but maybe I should make an account! :-)
