Hi Ethan, thanks for your video. Can you say which version of the SE you purchased and if this impacted the options on the MINI connected app?
Your welcome! My car is a 2019 MINI JCW with the Connected Plus option. The app works with cars back to 2013, however in order to unlock the Stay In Control area (this includes lock or unlock, horn, and climate control) you have to have a car that is produced in March 2018 or later with a Connected Media, Connected Navigation, or Connected Navigation Plus option package. I think the particular options may change slightly country to country. Hope that helps!

Can you turn on heating ventilation/cold ventilation trough app? For winter/summer days
Unfortunately this app can only turn on cold ventilation at this point. Nice in summer, pointless in winter.

Unfortunately it’s just the fan, I think the electric MINIs may let you change the temperature, but have not verified that.
The Mini sat nav is next to useless. We have to use our phones navigation system instead. We have a 2019 Cooper D and were hoping to link our phones sat nav to the mini screen, but no luck, guess we were expecting too much for a car that cost an arm and a leg.
Yeah I am not a fan of the onboard NAV. If you have an iPhone you might be able to use apple car play? It should be available on MINIs with the Navigation Package 2019 and later.
I guess theres no remote start option, and I guess it wouldn't work with a manual trans anyway.
Yeah sadly there isnt. Would be handy for the autos though!
At last a vid that was easy to follow and well presented. You say that when you entered the VIN you were able to see other options like flash lights, activate horn etc. You didn’t show the “entering the VIN”, is there a prompt to do this when you plug into the USB port?
Thank you! When you start the app, there is a prompt to enter the VIN. That was at least the case when I set up the app, there was just an update so don’t know if that altered the setup process slightly.
I've tried repeatedly to add my VIN and it stops me every time and won't allow me to. Not sure what's up.

I was looking if we can vent the car before leaving home (like in Winter) but in the app we see you can vent. but can you set the temperature ?
Hello, and welcome to the channel! Unfortunately, while they are rumoured to bring that feature, at this point you can only vent the car. It’s useful in Sumer, but a bit pointless in winter...

That's so bad from them :( that was the only real option I'm missing in my current car.
I see in Switzerland, If I want to get a countryman (hybrid) with some options you pay like 70k$...
For the same price (not the same usage or type of car for sure...) but you have a full connected car like the Tesla Model 3 full options.
I hope they get some update to add this because I don't think it's a limitation in the car itself but more because they are lazy :D

Yeah yikes! Didn't know a Countryman cost so much there! Here they are half the price as a Tesla so its more worth it.
Yeah I hope they add that feature. The winters get quite cold here in Canada too and it would really be nice. Just have to keep bugging them to add it!
What month will the app work with a 2018 jcw?
Basic features work on 2013 and later, however if you want the lock and unlock features you need a MINI that was produced after March 2018
Is this a JCW 2019? Does it still work with the new Mini app? Just bought one and Im hoping it continues working
Yes this is a 2019. It still works as far as I know!
2 questions...
When locking / unlocking mine doesn't set the alarm or told the mirrors on locking?
And
Can you set the temperature or is it how was set last te used? i
Yes, mine doesn’t set the alarm as well, not sure about the folding mirrors though as I don’t have that option.
For the temperature, I think it just starts the fan and starts the ventilation process. You normally don’t start feeling heat till the car has been on for a bit so they didn’t set up remote temperature control. Hope that helps!
The biggest thing I use the app for is double checking to make sure it’s locked or sun roof closed when I am away from it.

That's ok saying it's locked but if alarm isn't set that's not great :(
're the fan what's the point if isn't going to warm or cool the car ? 🤔
@@luciocancellara4995 Yeah I totally agree. Its no Tesla app... The fan will air out the car if its super hot but yeah... For me, its useful enough to have on my phone, but its not the type of thing I use every day.
so happy to find a mini Canada app video! when creating the user id, the app asks me the country. did you put in Canada? I read online that the Canadian version has less features. wonder under what country you register your app. thanks for the detailed vid!
Glad you found it useful! I did put Canada as the country, however it won’t show all the features for a couple days till the app is complete verified. If you have any more questions, feel free to leave them and I’ll see if I can answer them!

after i put in the vin, i selected to ser up as primary owner, then showed a page of profile setup, like name, address and phone number. i got a generic error of 'an error occured. pls try again' 😔

Two things to check, one, make sure you are trying to sign into the MINI Connected and not the MINI app. The link to the one you want is here apps.apple.com/ca/app/mini-connected/id1161372412 The other thing is, you should have an option to try and set it up via USB plugged directly into your MINI
Why would my mini vin number not work with mini connect?
There are a number of reasons it may not take your VIN. I think you need to have the right packages on your MINI, EX. Connected Media, Connected Navigation, or Connected Navigation Plus option package. Also you have to make sure that you select the Country that the MINI was originally bought from else it can't find the VIN in the database. I originally had England selected, but the VIN wouldn't work as I have a Canadian car.

@@dougmacrae9535 That is super odd... It isn't the most stable app in the world for everyone. The app only has like 2.5 stars out of 5 on the App Store

How to enable remote function?
You can either enter the cars VIN or plug it directly into the car to set up the remote functions. I have a setup video if your interested where I go step by step. th-cam.com/video/ZhCCXzEZTvI/w-d-xo.html

Yeah just wait a little bit and you should see it. It does depend on the options speced on your car though as well as year. If it doesn't show up after an hr or so, your car may not have that specific option.
It you have a 2017 and below the app is non existent 😩😮💨 it used to be good.

Mini Connected app has been replaced with the MINI app
Thanks for the heads up! I did some research on it and unfortunately its only available in Europe right now, but fingers crossed it will come to North America soon!
