13:52 this reminded me of when I first came out as trans to my best friend since childhood. He straight up said he wouldn't respect my choice, pronouns, or name in the slightest. Not that he needed to i just was left without any good friends for a while because all my friends were his friends, and most of them felt the same way. This was a while ago, and i have since found new friends. I occasionally talk to him still because he apologized for his words and learned that respecting me as a person is better than throwing away 10 years of being close friends.
Honestly I feel like some people just want to pretend they're perfect and win some kind of moral war. It's one thing to hold people accountable for shit, but when it gets so specific that you start digging up shit that doesn't even have any effect on today anymore it just becomes tiring. I don't consider myself a good person. I've done some pretty shitty things. But even if I believe that at this point I can't really ever be considered a good person, I did grow into trying not to keep doing the bad things I did and learn from those mistakes. Of course, I'm just an internet rando, not someone popular at all, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to say what I think. Besides, thinking I went from being a transphobic, homophobic bigot to finding out that I myself am a bisexual trans woman is pretty wild.
i did not go under the pipeline of transitioning, it's more so i was on the mild ass swing where i used to be a guy that wasn't exactly homo/transphobic, like i had (i still have) a non-binary friend at the time, but saw a few in-bad-faith youtube videos that had me decently convinced that people ONLY become non-cis out of some deep-rooted unhappiness, only later when i made a whole bunch of online lgbt+ people did i think oh yeah, they can live inherently happy lives, gender is more so about identity than strict biological rigidness, and that maybe, just maybe right wing guys in general shouldn't be stamping on the lives of others, and that homo/transphobic people are fighting for something that's just idealistically horrible and unproductive. The world's not exactly like a better place that i went from slightly iffy, to all for it, but hey, maybe someday people's just accept it.
The absolute unbridled authenticity just rocketed you to the top tier of creators I watch. There's so many things that I want to say to the world, so much pain I've felt and caused and learned from, so much beauty I can invoke and have already... and I know that most people aren't listening. But I also know that some people are. I'm working on a song that I beatbox in and it's very vulnerable to show that to the world, but there's at least 1 person who hears my beatboxing as how favorite part. That's what I see here. Your honesty with us and with yourself is my favorite part. I don't know you but I know what you are. We're both honest artists and for that, I love you
I hope that this message can do for you what this video did for me. Everything's based on equal opposites, so I hope with everything that I have that you can see it
That was a surprisingly nuanced take! Reminds me kinda of what happened with "Your Fave Is Problematic" where like... Yeah, it's important to call out actual awful stuff people have done, but putting that on the same level as trivial matters is really harmful. And in the end, the creator of that blog regrets creating it. But the people who have a bad take, have people disagree with it, and call that "canceling" are the biggest clowns of all.
Oh you know. Just be a conservative lmao. Seeing as you can say the most heinous shit online, and still have people support you regardless, like that egg dude screaming about pronouns, unless you literally start talking about doing weird things with children, people will protect you. Yeah I feel like worrying about cancel culture is the same shit as worrying of being falsely accused. Rarely happens, and on the contrary, most accusations tend to be, you know, real lol
I think the most important part is to realize that ur actions were shitty, like everybody has done something shitty in their live, but if you know the actions were shitty and you try to better urself ur a decent person, the problem is the people who don't accept they did something shitty and keep doubling down
So I was actually there to witness the Projared stuff from the very start, literally two days after i created my Twitter account. It was really the catalyst for all of this "cancel culture" stuff to begin. The thing that a lot of people don't realize is that his situation was extremely complicated. He's done some stuff that was pretty stupid honestly, but he's also dragged into things that he very much didn't do. The whole situation was pretty fucked, and the reason why he took so long is because he was talking to lawers and professionals (which is the smart thing to do.) I've also been a fan of his content for a long time, so it's nice to see that he was able to come back from all of that. Never quite the same that he was, but still making content. But the thing you gotta remember with all of this is that large corporations and social media sites profit off of all of this. There are multiple stuides that prove that social media sites purposefully push hate speech and and controversy foreward in order to get engagement, which just leads to more ad revenue. Our struggles and our issues are THEIR profit. So remember that before you engage with something hateful online, that there's a chance that the truth has been bent and manufactured for someone else's profit.
As silly as this video was, it is pretty deep as well. I also want to grow as a creator, but I am also scared of things like this. I think I’m growing out of it, and this video relieves some of those fears. Thank you, RadChad the MadLad, and to some of us, our Dad. 🧡
HE SAID THE N WORD WHEN HE WAS 13?????? WHICH WAS MORE THAN LIKELY A DECADE AGO WHEN HE WAS STILL GROWING AS A PERSON??????? AND HE HAD SO MUCH TIME TO LEARN AND DEVELOP AS THE INCREDIBLE PERSON HE IS NOW?????? CANCEL THIS MAN.
No but in all seriousness, all jokes aside, I’m so glad someone is talking about this. Nobody is morally perfect, ESPECIALLY at young ages, and unless it’s something truly terrible, you shouldn’t be afraid to be canceled because things you did years ago through immaturity.
I do really think there's a lot of interesting stuff you said in this video, and I appreciate you getting into the thorny thoughts of it. On the one hand, yeah, while not exactly an "epidemic," conviction by public opinion is a phenomenon of sorts on social media. Digging up the stuff people said that can be a decade old can be a meaningless, performative gesture. Over a decade ago, I found a joke funny that was rather racist upon reflection, and one of my favorite videos at the time was one that made a lot of gay jokes (which loses a lot of its humor when gay jokes don't really do anything for you when you grow up) - I certainly wasn't a prefect person 10 years ago, and while I like to think I've changed a lot for the better, I know I've still got things and behaviors that need to be worked on or be unlearned. So judging someone harshly over nothing, and calling for mob justice, is a really misguided gesture at best - people can change, and I think that people should be given the chance to. But conversely, "getting canceled" is something that harmful or devious people have weaponized to try to deflect criticism or hurt others. Think of all those comedians who say "I'm being canceled!!" - when you look at what is most often going on with them, it's that they're getting criticized, and because they don't want to do any sort of self-reflection, they just yell "I've been canceled." And then consequently, they tend to pivot into doubling down on "triggering people" and talking about all the jokes they "can't say" while saying them... "cancel culture" is their get out of jail free card for avoiding needing to actually improve or get with the times. Dave Chapelle is a pretty good case study of this: he's been pivoting more and more towards anti-trans "jokes" because he can just say the "woke left are canceling me!" instead of "people's awareness towards the trans community has evolved, and my humor about them is hurtful and out of date, perhaps I should update my humor for the times." You can see how being able to deflect keeps one from needing to actually consider improving or getting better as a person. And as I recall listening to Zoe Bee talk about in the wake of everything with the Hbomberguy video, modern social media has created a culture where we tend to treat controversies with media personalities as something of a public event, where we're eager to see the drama unfold and watch someone "get what they deserve." And that certainly isn't a great mindset to let foster in any way, shape, or form. We as a community should not be so eager to form mobs and jump the gun to see justice done before we know everything. We can all learn to admit to being wrong, and not overindulge in that mindset. As for that last bit of your video: I hope you'll keep being a good person too. We all make mistakes, we grow, we learn, and I'm certain you've grown from who you were as a child who made mistakes and said bad stuff. And I hope that future you - and future all of us - keep being good people, learn to grow with the times, and can forgive each other for the things we said and did when we didn't know better.
I can’t really speak to what it must be like to feel targeted and have to worry about your words being taken out of context, but I want to address you directly when I say this, rad chad. As an autistic trans woman, I feel like you have represented and discussed all these aspects of my identity better than I ever could. You are thorough, sympathetic and entertaining in how you discuss these topics, and when I watch your videos I feel like my feelings are well understood and accounted for. I think you’ve done a great job so far and I look forward to seeing what you do next.
Rad Chad, the mad lad, and sometimes, people's dad, I don't think you have to worry about being canceled, especially when you have such based takes as Ladiva, Poison and Bridget are queens. I found you looking up tips on how to play Bridget, as that's how I found Guilty Gear Strive. I found your video essay on gender in video games, then your Bridget lore video. I nearly cried when I finally found a video that wasn't misgendering Bridget or calling her a femboy. I subscribed when I watched your other videos. I am a trans woman. That is the reason I got into GGST, I found a character who I identify with. I picked up Elphelt when she released(I don't spam rekka), and I'm currently flip flopping between floor 6 and 7. My point is, keep making based videos, as long as you're still here. I look forward to your videos and comedy style every time I receive notifications. Please, keep being the mad lad you are. It's good to finally have a channel who doesn't shy away from fighting games having gender, instead of not acknowledging that, or being against it.
even after all these years of seeing “this guy is cancelled” stuff i still dont understand what being cancelled means. because at this point it feels like a title that the internet slaps onto people that the internet doesnt like. some deserve it, some dont, but to me, its a title that yells “IVE DONE TERRIBLE THINGS!!!!!”. its something that can only exist on the internet (and maybe medieval time as like a cruel punishment) idk what the takeaway from this comment is, just wanted to voice some thoughts
Another banger from Rad Chad. I appreciate the direction hes moving in. Even though the videos arent as silly right now, they’ll be silly another day. For now, we just have these BANGER think pieces, and i’m thankful for them💜 Pop off, Rad Chad
Man you have such a specific unique voice and editing style, it's been sick to watch you develop your voice and make more ambitious videos. Not many creators I'd actually watch a cancel culture video from lol
unironically the apology video script in your head is something i did for a long time and then it turned out to be a poorly applied moral ocd coping mechanism😭 (not armchair dxing lol moral ocd is just evil) i feel like probably a lot of people who jump on callouts have problems with scrupulocity. i wonder sometimes how the social landscape would change if we were educated about it.
Rad chad, the mad lad, who is to some of us our dad, your videos are getting better and better. Thank you Rad chad, the mad lad, who is to some us our dad.
Okay, but seriously, this is a growing issue. It's one thing to hold people accountable, it's another thing to end someone's entire livelihood because you found dirt on them from a couple decades ago. I feel like this might just be a symptom of a larger problem- the death of media literacy. A lot of older characters have been sanitized and washed of all character flaws as time goes on because it's, "woke," or, "the right thing to do." A specific instance is like Soka from Avatar. In the original series, he starts off arrogant and misogynistic, an overall bigot who gets his comeuppance whenever he acts out of line. More importantly, as the series progresses, he is proven wrong, fails, and grows, learning the error of his way and maturing as a character. (I have yet to see the reboot, but I've heard that his initial flaws were removed and it made his character boring.) I think the best remedy for this problem is acknowledging that people are flawed and can grow and change. Cancel culture feels like the American prison system; it takes in people who make mistakes, big and small, and marks them. Once they reenter society, their true punishment begins. People see their mark and reject them at every turn because that mark is a visible institutionalized flaw that could damage their image. This forces them to turn to a new life that only guarantees they'll make another mistake, this time it's only a matter of time before they're caught again. The reason I point this out is that there's nobody who wants to be around someone if they think that person will do the wrong thing, and when you get canceled, you are known as someone who has done wrong and it isn't seen as something you can change, it just is assumed it's part of who you are. We need to be more forgiving. This doesn't mean everybody deserves our forgiveness, there are some people who are legitimately bad people out there. It's just up to us to be able to read into the details and be able to discern negative traits from genuine mistakes.
While I generally agree with what you’re saying, the part at 6:55 legit feels like a propaganda cartoon. You take the people you disagree with, paint them in the worst light as strawmen caricatures, and have your main character effortlessly refute everything they say while the strawmen never have any proper rebuttal. I don’t like the feeling that I’m watching actual propaganda.
@@kelby1810 It’s bad when anyone does it, right or wrong. Cuz how are we even supposed to know whose right, if nobody even wants to argue against bad people?
@@kelby1810 It’s bad when either side makes this kind of unnuanced propaganda mindlessly saying “the other side bad, we da good guys”. I feel like this video honestly does the best at presenting the fears and oddities of Cancel Culture. Or at least compared to what I usually see, which is people talking about it as a type of cancer rather than its complexities.
I see a frame of call me carson hung up in the bar. I do not know what this implies. Does he think he handled his situation poorly or well? Does he think he's at fault or does he understand the overreaction? And just like Carson, I'm just going to move on from this and continue with the video now.
This video is the most important one for me because I am very paranoid about being cancelled I influence’s almost every thing I do and this connects to me I a personal level and also rad you are a great person I definitely know that and even if you do some fuck up stuff you have My respect and gratitude and my support your fandom and I care about you and we always will thank you for being a mad lad a rad chad and most importantly our second dad congrats on 100k subscribers

Honestly, having to trudge through the mud to maintain your path sucks. There will be people who try to mess it up for you just because. It's a good thing you're considering all of this though. It shows you value the path you're taking, and you want to do it right.
The idea of cancellation would work if it wasn't so tightly bound to money and power. People would be genuine, with a genuine desire for complete truth and accuracy if the heavenly imagining of endless popularity and monetization didn't anialate any kindling honesty and respect

I gotta give my props to the CRAZY perspective in the thumbnail drawing.
Petition to cancel rad Chad for talking about cancel culture
My favorite method of keeping power, the Dictatorship Censor method.
even after all these years of seeing “this guy is cancelled” stuff i still dont understand what being cancelled means. because at this point it feels like a title that the internet slaps onto people that the internet doesnt like. some deserve it, some dont, but to me, its a title that yells “IVE DONE TERRIBLE THINGS!!!!!”. its something that can only exist on the internet (and maybe medieval time as like a cruel punishment)
idk what the takeaway from this comment is, just wanted to voice some thoughts
You know, like, when two people on twitter criticize you and get 10 likes
Another banger from Rad Chad. I appreciate the direction hes moving in. Even though the videos arent as silly right now, they’ll be silly another day.
For now, we just have these BANGER think pieces, and i’m thankful for them💜
Pop off, Rad Chad
Man you have such a specific unique voice and editing style, it's been sick to watch you develop your voice and make more ambitious videos. Not many creators I'd actually watch a cancel culture video from lol
unironically the apology video script in your head is something i did for a long time and then it turned out to be a poorly applied moral ocd coping mechanism😭 (not armchair dxing lol moral ocd is just evil)
i feel like probably a lot of people who jump on callouts have problems with scrupulocity. i wonder sometimes how the social landscape would change if we were educated about it.
How in gods name did you go from guilty gear shitposting to almost making me cry.
Spoke? Canceled
Spoke... rhymes with... Woke...
Oh my TH-cam, I've cracked the case!

"Pyrocynical fucking dies"
i love watching rad chad so much, i love watching any of his videos and his art style
This felt genuine and well thought out. How is the ideal apology video one that can be made before anything needs to be forgiven?
Rad chad, the mad lad, who is to some of us our dad, your videos are getting better and better. Thank you Rad chad, the mad lad, who is to some us our dad.
the intro has more effort put into it then most other youtubers
3:26 Pewdiepie reference at the top right
Okay, but seriously, this is a growing issue.
(I have yet to see the reboot, but I've heard that his initial flaws were removed and it made his character boring.)
I think the best remedy for this problem is acknowledging that people are flawed and can grow and change.
Characters being dumbed down is more to do with studio meddling and big corporations being scared to take a risk
@@Watburnt Entirely valid! (I was trailing off topic, thanks for the catch!)
Cancel Culture? But culture's so beautiful!
This is truly Rad Chad / the Mad Lad / Dad (*Optional) 's Magnum Opus
Wow this video is amazing
This might be one of rad chads best videos. The commentary here is incredible
Dad rad, the mad Chad, and sometimes my lad?!
5:32 for this i know you just played persona 4 and you liked Adachi.
Anyway good job and kanji and Naoto are the best girl
While I generally agree with what you’re saying, the part at 6:55 legit feels like a propaganda cartoon. You take the people you disagree with, paint them in the worst light as strawmen caricatures, and have your main character effortlessly refute everything they say while the strawmen never have any proper rebuttal. I don’t like the feeling that I’m watching actual propaganda.
Just like asmongold
@@kelby1810 It’s bad when anyone does it, right or wrong. Cuz how are we even supposed to know whose right, if nobody even wants to argue against bad people?
@@JonnyO514so both sides suck?
@@kelby1810 It’s bad when either side makes this kind of unnuanced propaganda mindlessly saying “the other side bad, we da good guys”. By virtue of both sides basically being opposites one of them has gotta be the correct side, but we’ll never know if you don’t actually engage with what the opposition truly believes in.
this might be the hardest thumbnail of all time
I'm smelling an incoming video from a certain channel: "CLUELESS Animator Defends The Completionist?!"
This feels like a shower thought that dad had
And he just decided to animate it?
"Moral white noise" goes so hard
conclusion: people need to do omelettes more often
People overlooking the weird shit Pyrocynical is into?
Bro people were clowning on him for that for months, it was still a good response tho.
Yeah but it isn't really in a mocking way like it would be if it was in isolation, is more like a funny meme him and his audience are in.
@@GamerTowerDX that's sorta what I meant, prolly worded it badly, but yeah it was pretty funny to bully him for it (while it was funny to bully him for it cause it got old fast)
My boy got crucified 😭😭😭
3:17 for all your kissy needs :3
Cancel culture?
Culture is so beautiful though.
I feel like this video honestly does the best at presenting the fears and oddities of Cancel Culture. Or at least compared to what I usually see, which is people talking about it as a type of cancer rather than its complexities.
Too distracted in the opening bit due to currently playing Fallout New Vegas
Hey Rad Chad, I'm a recent subscriber but I Love your videos of Meet Guilty Gear characters. You are so funny and a nivel content creator
Sorry, I wanna say a nice content creator. Damm board
How would you be able to crucify Rad Chad if his hands aren't connected to his body 🤔
"Your subscriber is too low"
Me with 14 Sub: "Aye fair enoug"
I see a frame of call me carson hung up in the bar. I do not know what this implies. Does he think he handled his situation poorly or well? Does he think he's at fault or does he understand the overreaction? And just like Carson, I'm just going to move on from this and continue with the video now.
This will age poorly on August 13th 2026
This video is the most important one for me because I am very paranoid about being cancelled I influence’s almost every thing I do and this connects to me I a personal level and also rad you are a great person I definitely know that and even if you do some fuck up stuff you have My respect and gratitude and my support your fandom and I care about you and we always will thank you for being a mad lad a rad chad and most importantly our second dad congrats on 100k subscribers
this video goes hard (I do not know how to phrase my elaborate and unexplored thoughts on a very entertaining yet introspective video)
Lol i live in a chirstian hoise and im watching this after carrying a cross up a hill early in the morning. Funny coincidence.
I didn’t expect to hear rimworld music at the start
Realest video essay/animation skit in the west.
This is sorta like pissing.
It burns wen you do it.
Rad chad your art has gone from funny to good stop scaring me like this
As long as you operate with good intent, misunderstandings will clear up and mistakes will be rectified. There's no need to worry.
Asmongold section aging like a fine rat carcass waking you up in the morning.
The best question you can ask your fear of losing your work is this: What will I do now?
Why? Culture is so beautyful.
Rad chad the mad lad and quite possibly my dad I hope you are not mad at me. I had to sleep before watching this video. Im a little late but please dont abandon me
I LOVE MEN!
The quality is crazy. Omg bro incredible job 👏
Honestly, having to trudge through the mud to maintain your path sucks. There will be people who try to mess it up for you just because.
It's a good thing you're considering all of this though. It shows you value the path you're taking, and you want to do it right.
I thought you were going to talk about how asmongold how he got canceled for saying that streaming is a hardest job you can get 7:56
The idea of cancellation would work if it wasn't so tightly bound to money and power. People would be genuine, with a genuine desire for complete truth and accuracy if the heavenly imagining of endless popularity and monetization didn't anialate any kindling honesty and respect
nice rimworld music also rad chad woke????? also also that isn't asmongold, there are no roaches
Everyone makes mistakes...
Well except of course

Cancel culture? But culture is so beautyful
I love your videos Rad Chad, I'll be the first the look into the evidence and come to my own conclusion when you get cancelled on 06/03/2027 ✨
Rimworld Music always on top, i have too many hours in that game
13:16 micah moment
why is rayman on the cross ?
Rad chad and possibly my dad are you actually ok. Because your actually doing fine Because from my experience the best way to be a better person are the people who think they are bad and the Worst people are ones who think they are above it all
