I commented on another channel that this Boderry had missed the point by replacing the Bertucci fixed bars with normal spring bars. People replied that spring bars are more versatile, but the reason I would by a Bertucci is the tough quartz movement and fixed bars.

Good point about the fixed spring bars; I forgot about that. The quartz movement and the fixed spring bars make the Bertucci considerably more durable.

I bought a Bertucci A-2T Vintage in 2018 for $220 (USD): titanium case, sapphire crystal, 200m water resistant, 5-year battery, Swiss quartz movement. It’s a great watch. I have always thought this would also be quite appealing (to me) as an automatic, and now Boderry has made that happen. I bought a Boderry Voyager a month ago (October 2023), worn it every day. It has run at -2 seconds/day for the month; that is better than several Swiss watches with ETA movements that I own.
I have found no fault with the Boderry.

Some consumers believe and practice the more they pay, the better a product is without really caring about quality etc... The suppliers and manufacturers will always have products available to those types...

I think Bertucci will be ok, as they seem to have a healthy following in the US.
Most people will buy what they can afford too, I know I do, got to pay the bills first.
I'm still getting David Lynch vibes Doc.
      Thanks

It's a dishonest version of Payless Shoes for watches. People don't know the difference when next to the same watch they want is at Payless prices elsewhere. All Payless locations are the same size since their beginning, and now the same sized thief versions are after the affordable watch bracket that most people shop for because getting into watches is much too complicated of a task and wastes lots of time if you're just after something of good quality while being affordable.

The AliExpress gang seems to be aiming their sights lower these days. The first blatant one I saw was the creation of IX&DAO to push out a 95% copy of the Serica 5303. I'll give Boderry a little credit over the usual AliX fare in that some of their designs are original-ish. Or maybe I am just not familiar with the watch being copied. Reminds me a bit of Merkur.
This Voyager is another story, that's a straight rip from Bertucci. Execution seems okay after they replaced the bad batch of Miyota 8215 with NH35, though the dials on the bronze version still have "Titanium" on the bottom (possibly corrected).

    • @WatchLab1
      @WatchLab1  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

I didn't know that it originally had a Miyota 8215; Thanks for the info.

@@WatchLab1 I may be getting my model numbers wrong because some versions were day/date. Regardless, these had a worse-than-usual stuttering issue that prompted a lot of complaints and returns.

This is a fantastic watch! Lot of value here. Id much rather have one of these over a Bertucci. Seiko NH35, sapphire, titanium. If Bertucci can give me roughly the same specs for close to the same money then id definitely pick one up. If not, ill happily buy Boderry or Gary or whatever. Its just a watch after all. Bertucci does get reasonable money for their stuff, but I'd rather have the price difference in my pocket.

Point well made , but it’s unnecessarily hassled on other TH-cam channels who are just making a living. The is watch company should build on this design and change 20% to respect the original design

What he is describing is called free market competition. A lot of smartphone companies "copied" the IPhone in 2007 and offered products for much less. That is how the market works and guess who benefits? We do, the consumers. Btw, you can get a polymer composite frame Bertucci for like $50. I have one. Maybe Bertucci should stick with that or stop charging +$50 for the same watch solely because they slap a metal frame on it.

Great rant, but I think you're being a bit unfair to Boderry. The Voyager resembles the Bertucci A2 (both are field watches) but it's certainly not an identical copy. Main resemblance that's not shared by every field watch is the 4 o'clock crown. Now that sensible ergonomic feature isn't unique to Bertucci, in fact it appears to have been introduced by Seiko (who make the Boderry movement) . The unique feature of Bertucci, fixed bars, is not used by Boderry. So you can't really describe the Voyager as a copy. It might be called a "convergence" (there's only so many ways to style a field watch).
The challenge for "Western" manufacturing is that Chinese products now compete on quality and performance as well as price.

It does look like a Bertucci, but most field watches look alike, really. Also, unlike the Bertucci it is not quartz, but automatic. I would rather have this automatic watch than a $100 quartz watch from Bertucci.
