You all probably dont care but does anyone know a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost my password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
The plans were drawn by my grandfather Orrin C. Hoopman. I have recently discovered two negatives (and to my knowledge, the photos have never been published) from the early 30s showing the Model T powered grand-daddy of all Sky Scouts. Would you be interested ?
I knew Wes Farmer for many years and as i recall the Scout was an attempt to fit a Model T engine. No dice. Too weak, too heavy and a total flop. He once told me the model A engine minus prop, mag or radiator weighed in at 244 pounds---amazing for the time. Alas my fulsome collection of Fawcett stuff has all been sold so I'm left with wistful, but pleasant memories.
This said he stripped the engine of a bunch of weight. I'm wandering besides the starter and generator what could be stripped. That engine was as basic as it could be from it's birth.
Built my first one in 1972 and have flown many Pietenpols.
It's still on the bucket list.
Just purchased a Pietenpol and appreciate the history lesson. Thanks.
Very cool. One of the true pioneers of experimental aviation.

might have to sell my old wears on here too some day. good wok!
Thanks!
I just learned something ... I had assumed that the single seat "Sky Scout" using the T-model Ford engine came first.
I'm building a Sky Scout but it will be A powered.

I know he modified the oil pan and the water pump. And I know many people add aluminum cylinder heads and other lightweight performance parts.
