Thank you for uploading this so quickly! I just finished the Heritage 2 tear down and literally refreshed my TH-cam page on my iPhone and then this popped up 😁😁😁
@@KirbyEnthusiast are used to re-polish them with a buffer rebuild the innards with genuine parts there are other companies that make motor parts but we always use the genuine when I worked in the vac shop. There was literally a mountainous pile back in one room of the things and I used to pull one out about once or twice a week rebuild it and polish it up and we can sell it in the shop and I’d make a couple of bucks off of it
Come to West Texas, I’ll take you over to the factory as I said it’s 30 miles from me. I have my grandmothers 1958 small head Kirby and I have a G4 a legend and an avilir. And I have every attachment that was ever made for the things.
Glad to see that it is possible to take care of this issue! My Avilir got stuck in my garage for a few months due to a variety reasons, where there's no protection from the humidity, and it's definitely not in the best of conditions visually. Now I've got myself a fun weekend project (assuming I won't need to use the Kirby that weekend! Had a few issues with worn belts and badly positioned beater bars, as well as a nasty hair clog in the motor section that I only recently discovered and cleared out, so I've got a bit of vacuuming and shampooing that needs to be done first once I get some new belts!)
At the vac shop where I worked for years, we use a power wheel buffer & buffing rouge to buff out the old Kirbys and put a shine on the like paper brand new.
I have a buffing wheel and the different paste, I have done a video using it . Though most owners wouldn’t have one so I shared how to by hand . Plus I hand no buffing wheel when I made this .
Another great video and a very important aspect of maintaining a Kirby - there’s nothing like a shiny Kirby to put a smile on your face. Keep up the good work KE.
I spent a day polishing mine using a bench grinder with polishing mops, I must say it was worth the effort, Here in Spain Maquires was twice the normal cost and Mothers was unobtainable at sensible price.Having seen the results I think I will have to invest in some for the next time I give my Legend a "service", another useful vid thanks.
That's awesome so glad im helping so many Kirby Enthusiasts. Thanks so much for SUBSCRIBING & Supporting my channel and such great comment helps me grow alot.
Great result Dean.I can go to my old garage and pull out and straighten old Aussie nails in the timberwork they are high grade steel made in OZ..as opposed to Chinese nails from Bunnings which are garbage...Same goes for Aluminium...the older metal is of a higher grade and much better quality...as a retired Electroplater who specialised in Zinc,Cadmium and Chrome I shake my head at the rubbish we are being sold.I have a twenty three year old Simpson Washing Machine..made in OZ...the Chassis is high grade steel...I only have to tap Thai made machines to know they too are low grade junk.
Thanks for support and awesome comment, the days of buying good aluminium and steel has gone . The older kirbys polish up a lot easier , you have to work a little harder on the newer ones .
Thank you, have a G4 but lucked up on a G6 2001 limited Edition. It was in bad shape going through the process of cleaning it up and thinking about making it my primary vacuum.
Not a problem, I try to get as much content out each wk . Working around my normal job . Thanks for continued support and sharing my channel. I appreciate every comment, like and Subscription. It mean I’m making a difference. Thanks again for supporting my channel .👍👍
I used 1200 wet n dry using warm soapy water to remove all corrosion, then buffed using T cut to a mirror finish, finally finished off using Autosol polish to give it a nice lustre and protection. It takes time to do the job right and if there is a lot of corrosion the 1200 grit will get rid of it without scratching deeply. I do like the old ways of polishing though, I still polish paintwork using old methods because they never fail. You are not afraid of a little elbow grease, which is, I am sad to say, lacking in the young today.
I didn’t d use wet and dry 1500 in another video where I removed deep scratches on Kirby g6, The silvo to me smell like T cut so I think it had the same properties. I don’t a little bit of elbow grease , I think you appreciate it more when you put the time and effort in. I also have updated version of this video due to sound issues in this one from 2yrs ago Thanks so much for awesome comment and support . 👍👍
Damn, i was wondering if you had a video on how to polish the metal. Good look, man! Mine is starting to look a little rough. Maybe I'll get some chrome spinning rims and make a video lol.

i had a tin can of Luster pad a long time ago and was blown away how good it did on chrome. it actually ate thru rust. i hope the company hasnt changed their formula since then cause that was a product id swear by. www.ebay.com/itm/LUSTER-PAD-METAL-ALUMINUM-POLISH-Perfect-Car-Wheels-Rims-Cleaner/182186127603?epid=1522911865&hash=item2a6b23b0f3:g:eTYAAOSwJb9WqSCt
I was just thinking about this video today, my family go the kirby sentria long time ago and i have it right now i was trying to deap clean my carpet and i found your channel, absolutely the best thank you for all the hard work you put throughout the years Also i got a random question i couldn't find the sponge filter for the carpet cleaning tools what can I replace it with as a diy or something
The Silvo with the wool get rid of corrosion with ease , the the maguires just does a great job . Just trial and error over the months and found what worked best . Thanks for supporting my channel and commenting really appreciated. 👍👍
Cheers for that. Trying to clean up this G4 that l picked up and will be giving to my parents for a gift, but its looks old and very tarnished. Wasnt getting very far. Will give this a crack
I use the mothers and cleans up real well and after I put a layer of wax on it to give it a protective layer sure shines up nice but I do got some that has some deep scratches on them and I just wonder what they need to do in order to get them out what the process is
Glad my videos are reaching and helping so many Kirby owner’s. Thanks so much for your continued support of my channel. Let me know how you go, you can post pics on my Kirby Enthusiast Facebook page.
I got an avalir 2 second hand and the brushroll head is in a terrible state. The locks for the brushroll guard are so rusty I have to hammer them open and closed. Aside from ordering a new brush head attachment, what do you recommend for fixing this?
Do you have a video of a full teardown of a Heritage or Legend? I'd love to give my parents' a full tuneup. (It is a "bagless" so it fills up into a cloth bag, way old!)
I'm a total novice with tools and stuff, if you don't mind me asking: what was the attachment that you used on your drill? I'm bringing a G4 I bought ten years ago back from the dead.
Is it a particular steel wool you are using or can I just go pick any kind up at the hardware store? Also, I have a Sentria II that could use some polishing, however it isn’t nearly as needed as what that Heritage II needed in your video... you probably watched my video of my Kirby... I’m honestly afraid if I use steel wool on it, I won’t be able to buff that out... PLEASE HELP!
