Seatbelts become compulsory in uk

BBC news, seatbelts have saved countless lives over the years , I took to them early on, because all the company cars I drove had them , I even had a set installed in my MK1 cortina from a write off company van, the fixed type not the movable ones.

I remember it well Jack, but I did wear mine due to having a car accident which I did get slightly injured car from side road bit me at speed. I even had seat belts in the back of my car for the children in 1982, as bad to do an emergency stop.and my daughter was flying in the air but my wife and I put our arms across the gap between the seats which saved her, went out that day and bought two seat belts we were visiting my brother in Wales at the time. A friend in the 1970's flew though the window screen and died 49 years ago. Still think of my school buddy often. Hope your doing ok Jack take care all the best Rob. Hope Blush is ok as well.

My 1984 ford escort doesn't have belts in the back, I took some friends to a car show in it last year 5up the ones in the back moaning about the lack of belts, I said don't worry I don't intend on crashing 😀

Yes indeed, I don't know why I put 84, it's an age thing I guess, though I could of sworn it was much earlier, probably because I was using them from 1974 onwards, time distorts the facts😅

@@jackflashvintagemotoring7586 I was 16 in 1983. My parents always wore seatbelts, once inertia belts were fitted to their cars. I learned to drive in 1984, so I’ve always worn a seatbelt.
